When you think of Danyang (단양), paragliding is the next most famous thing after its garlic!
If, like me, you find paragliding a bit too scary,
but still crave an adventurous activity,
then at Mancheonha Skywalk (만천하스카이워크), you can ride the Alpine Coaster and Zipwire.
My 8-year-old son, who is 125cm tall, even rode the Alpine Coaster by himself and had a blast!

First, we parked and headed to the ticket office to purchase tickets.
Danyang Zipwire and Alpine Coaster Riding Conditions

Only Skywalk admission tickets can be issued at the unmanned ticket machine.
For the Zipwire, Alpine Coaster, and Monorail, you'll need to confirm the riding conditions
and fill out and submit a consent form.
Therefore, tickets for these attractions can only be purchased directly at the ticket office before riding.
Since these are activity rides, there are restrictions based on age, height, and weight.
Please check these carefully before riding. There's also a large scale in front of the ticket office.
For example, if a child under 120cm weighs 20kg,
a parent exceeding 80kg cannot accompany them....

By the time we finished our ride and came down, the line had grown much longer.
They also mentioned that if the wait gets too long, sales might close early,
so if you're visiting on a weekend,

You don't just hop on right away;
you first get a brief safety training in the education room before boarding.
The Alpine Coaster has a speed-adjustable bar in the middle,
so you need to adjust your speed in certain sections.
It's simple to operate: push it forward to go, pull it back to stop.

The Alpine Coaster, which descends without power,
first climbs incredibly high (automatically).
It took about 7 minutes just to go up,
but less than 2 minutes to come down.
As soon as the descent started from the top,
I kept pulling the bar because I was scared.
Even if you go slowly, there's a risk of colliding with the next person coming down,
so an announcement plays:
"Pick up the pace, it's safe!"
"You can go a bit faster!"
On the other hand, my son never pulled the bar
and went down at full speed, without being scared at all!
It was the most thrilling moment of the year for me.
📌 As far as I know, the only places in Korea where you can ride an Alpine Coaster are
High1 Resort (하이원리조트) in Jeongseon (정선) and Mancheonha (만천하) in Danyang (단양),
so if you come to Danyang, I highly recommend trying it!
Taking the Shuttle Bus to Mancheonha Skywalk

After riding the Alpine Coaster, to use the Mancheonha Skywalk,
you need to take a shuttle bus.
For the Zipwire, you buy your ticket, then take the shuttle,
and ride the Zipwire in front of the Skywalk.

We walked up to the summit
along the spiraling circular deck.

The weather was great that day, which made the scenery even more spectacular,
and Danyang's (단양) geography, surrounded by mountains, was visible at a glance.
At the Manhakcheonbong Observatory (만학천봉 전망대), there's a section made of triple-layered glass,
which made it feel like walking on air!

Even though it's triple-layered glass, it was pretty scary because of the height,
but you can't *not* take a picture with a view like this!
Mancheonha Sky Lounge Cafe

After coming down from the Mancheonha Skywalk,
there's the Mancheonha Sky Lounge (만천하 스카이라운지) below the shuttle bus stop.
This place also has floor-to-ceiling windows,
making it a great cafe to relax and enjoy the view.

They had a wide variety of menu items and quite a few bakery options too.
To boost our energy, we chose Sangha Farm (상하목장) ice cream.
Thanks to the good weather, photos turned out great no matter where we shot them!
After relaxing at the cafe, we took the shuttle back to the parking lot.
Lunch: Danyang Garlic Tteokgalbi

Originally, we had planned to go to Mancheonha Skywalk (만천하 스카이워크)
and then directly to the Danyang Jando (단양 잔도) cliffside trail that immediately follows it,
but since it was the weekend and the weather was beautiful, there were a lot of people.
After buying tickets around 9:30 AM and coming down, it was already past 12 PM,
so we changed our schedule to have lunch and then take a walk along Danyang Jando.

We had the garlic tteokgalbi (grilled short rib patties) set meal at Samhyang Dolsotbap (삼향돌솥밥),
which is just a 7-minute walk from our accommodation, Danyang Gwangwang Hotel (단양 관광호텔).
It was a generous set meal that came with stone pot rice, garlic tteokgalbi, and even grilled fish,
allowing us to eat heartily.
Among the side dishes, there was pickled garlic (garlic jangajji),
which was a perfect match for the tteokgalbi!

Danyanggang Jando: Perfect for a Stroll

This cliffside trail is built along the rock face of the Namhan River (남한강), with a total length of 1.2km.
It's open 24 hours, so you can enjoy a walk with night lighting in the evening.

With a cliff on one side and the spectacular view of the Namhan River unfolding on the other,
it was truly unique and refreshing.
We even saw people riding speedboats on the Namhan River!

I can only imagine how much more beautiful it will be when the autumn leaves change!
Walking the round trip covers 2.4km,
making it a wonderful Danyang attraction for a light and refreshing stroll.
If you're planning an autumn trip to Danyang,
I highly recommend this travel course where you can enjoy the thrill of the Alpine Coaster or Zip Wire
and take in the scenery to your heart's content!
