East Wing Differences and Tour Discount Hacks
Text/Photos ⓒ Minimay

Our Danyang trip was planned because my child
really wanted to visit Dodam Sambong.
So, when we were looking for accommodation,
we naturally prioritized places close to Dodam Sambong.
Sonobelle Danyang is just a 9-minute drive from Dodam Sambong,
and you can reach Gujeong Market and the main commercial district in just 5 minutes.
It seemed incredibly convenient for sightseeing and grabbing dinner!
Today, I'll share our family's review of the
West Wing Family Lake View, along with
the differences between the East Wing and West Wing rooms,
and even some great tips on how to get discounts on Danyang attractions.

What I Loved After Staying for 1 Night
What truly impressed me most about
Sonobelle Danyang was its unbeatable location.

When we actually drove to Dodam Sambong, which my child was so eager to see,
it was only a 9-minute drive. And to Danyang Gujeong Market and the main commercial area?
Just 3 minutes!

The second thing that completely captivated me was the breathtaking lake view!
Through the window, a picturesque, serene lake view unfolded,
and to the right, I could even spot the Mancheonha Skywalk on the mountain top!
This made for such diverse views, both day and night.
When I visited, it was before the autumn foliage,
so I enjoyed a vibrant green view.
Sonobelle Danyang is actually famous as an autumn foliage hotspot,
so I heard that if you time your visit just right, you'll be treated to spectacular fall colors.
Price & Booking Tips
When I was booking, I really wanted to reserve a room in the
East Wing, which has renovated rooms.
However, because I booked late during a holiday period,
there were no rooms left... ㅠㅠ
If you're concerned about older room conditions and are
considering the East Wing, I highly recommend
checking for available rooms first.

I also compared prices across various booking sites.
Booking Platform | Yeogi Eottae | Trip.com | Agoda |
Price | ~$85 | ~$76 | ~$78 |

Just looking at the listed prices, Trip.com
appears to be the most affordable.

However, if you apply the Yeogi Eottae coupon pack
and then use the 10% payment discount with Kakao Pay or Toss Pay,
you can book at the lowest price of ~$74.
The Kakao Pay and Toss Pay discounts
are offered on a first-come, first-served basis daily,
so definitely double-check and apply them when you make your payment!

Check-in & Room Assignment Times
✅ Danyang Tourist Attraction Discount Tip!
While check-in is from 3 PM,
you can get your room assigned as early as 12 PM.
If you're hoping for a high-floor room, a smart move would be to swing by beforehand to request your assignment,
then head out to explore the sights!

We ended up checking in after 3 PM.
Since it was a holiday and all rooms were fully booked,
we didn't specifically ask for a high floor,
but we still got assigned to the 8th floor.
A cool bonus: at the tour desk, you can get discount tickets
for Danyang tourist attractions!

For Danuri Aquarium, a huge hit with families,
the adult admission drops from the regular price of ~$13
to just ~$7, which is a pretty sweet deal!
If you're planning to visit paid attractions or experiences like
Gosu Cave or the Ondal Tourist Zone, etc.,
it's definitely a good idea to grab your tickets
at the front desk before you set off!

Family Lake View Room Review (West Wing)
The Family Lake View Room in the WEST Wing
hasn't been renovated,
so it definitely has an older feel to it.

As soon as my child opened the door and stepped inside,
he said, “It feels like Grandma's house!” haha.
(It was a perfectly apt comparison, my son... haha)
While the furniture and wallpaper give off an older vibe,
true to the Sono Hotels brand, the cleanliness was excellent.
You can choose between two single beds or one double bed,
and we opted for two single beds.

What truly makes up for the older room is
the breathtaking, unobstructed view of Sogeumgang River.

It's not a studio-type room;
there's an additional room separated by a sliding door,
which was convenient for changing clothes or storing luggage.
Inside the built-in closet, there were two sets of extra bedding.

When traveling with children, it can be unsettling to have them sleep in a bed,
but the two generous sets of extra bedding were perfect.
We laid them out in the living room/bedroom area.
The Sono Season bedding is incredibly soft and comfortable,
and with the ample extra bedding, we slept like babies.

Although it's a clean room where cooking isn't allowed,
it comes with basic tableware and a four-person dining table,
making it easy to enjoy simple meals.
There's also a cafe and convenience store on B1,
which was great for picking up anything we needed.
Shampoo, body wash, soap, towels, and a hairdryer are all provided,
so you only need to bring essentials like your toothbrush and toothpaste.
Room Type Comparison
From the West Wing Lake View room,
you can see the river outside the window,
and even catch a glimpse of the Mancheonha Skywalk.
In fact, the view was even better than the East Wing,
which faces Sogeumgang River more directly.
For us, this was excellent value for money!

However, if you're hoping for a newly renovated room,
the older interior of the West Wing might be a bit disappointing.
In that case, I'd recommend an East Wing room.
Sono Belle Danyang Average Room Prices and Key Considerations | ||
Room Type | Average Price Range | Things to Consider When Choosing |
West Wing Non-View | From ~$80 | If you have a packed itinerary and don't need a view |
West Wing Lake View | From ~$95 | If you want to enjoy a river view from your room |
East Wing Renovated Room | From ~$7 to ~$22+ higher than West Wing | If you prefer a newly refurbished room |
Even if the room size is the same, there's quite a price difference
depending on the wing and the view.
If you have a specific wing or room type in mind,
I recommend you check for availability first.

Dining and Facilities

Our room was a clean type, so
cooking isn't allowed. However, with the exception of strong-smelling foods like king crab,
outside food is permitted.
On the way back from dining out,
we picked up some dakgangjeong (sweet and sour crispy chicken) and makgeolli (Korean rice wine) from Gugyeong Market,
and it was so comfortable to finish our evening in the room.

In the resort's basement, you'll find a relaxation area, a cafe,
a convenience store, and Legend Heroes (an indoor sports/game park).

The breakfast at Chef's Kitchen also gets great reviews,
so it's definitely worth trying out.
On the first floor, there's a BBQ Chicken restaurant and a cafe,
and in the plaza in front of the building, you'll find
BBQ Square Garden, where you can enjoy barbecue platters.

I noticed while taking an evening stroll that it was almost completely full.
When you're traveling by car,
it can be hard to enjoy a beer because of the driving,
but here, the kids can play in the plaza,
and adults can relax with a drink – which seemed like a fantastic setup!

While it might be smaller than other branches, there's also Ocean Play,
which is perfect for families to enjoy some water fun.
So, was Sonobelle Danyang the perfect family stay?
✔ Excellent location close to Dodam Sambong and Gugyeong Market
✔ While the West Wing is older, its cleanliness and bedding were satisfying
✔ If you prefer newer rooms, check out the East Wing
✔ Discounts available for Danyang attractions nearby
Our family trip to Sonobelle Danyang's West Wing room
had a slightly older feel, but in return,
the cleanliness and bedding were absolutely to our liking.
Not only is it close to major Danyang attractions like Dodam Sambong and Gosu Cave,
but it's also near Gugyeong Market and the main commercial district,
which perfectly fit our family's itinerary.
If room interiors are a priority for you, consider the East Wing.
But if you're looking to enjoy the great location and facilities
while also keeping an eye on your budget,
I think you'll be very satisfied choosing the West Wing.
If you're planning a Danyang trip and looking for accommodation
that can host families of 3, 4, or more,
I highly recommend Sonobelle Danyang!
