01. Daegu Date Spots to Explore

Among Daegu's must-try eats,
one snack you simply can't miss is the sweet and chewy
Daegu Kkultteok.

On this trip with my brother's family,
I really got to dive into Daegu's dessert scene.
When I visited IntheMass Samdeok, which I had been looking forward to,
I saw lots of couples enjoying it as a date spot.

This hip and stylish spot in Samdeok-dong
is perfect for couples to have intimate conversations
and equally ideal for families to relax and unwind.
In particular, the bingsu,
a modern reinterpretation of Kkultteok,
was as delicious as it was famous.
For those planning a date course in Daegu's Dongseongno area,
I'll share all the details on IntheMass Samdeok's location and ambiance,
bingsu taste, and nearby attractions,
giving you comprehensive Daegu date tips.

There were 4 parking spots available in front of the building.
Even though we visited during peak season, we found parking easily
in the surrounding neighborhood alleys, and there are private parking lots scattered around too.
If you're using public transportation,
it's close to Exit 1 of Kyungpook National University Hospital Station,
and within walking distance from Jungangno Station and Banwoldang Samgeori Station,
making it very accessible.

For a date course around Dongseongno,
you could stroll around the Cathedral of Our Lady of Lourdes
near Cheonra Hill, and also visit Gyodong Market,
which has a retro vibe and is located north of Dongseongno.
Another excellent Daegu date spot,
regardless of the weather, is The Hyundai Daegu,
where you can enjoy an indoor date as part of your itinerary.

Nearby, you can continue your date to
Kim Kwang-seok Re-enactment Road, a cultural street
that reinterprets Kim Kwang-seok's life and music
through murals and sculptures.

Stepping inside Indermass Samdeok,
it was bustling with tourists,
likely due to the peak season.

The space truly stood out with its modern interior and soaring high ceilings, feeling incredibly spacious. The tables were comfortably distanced, and natural light streaming in through the large windows created such a wonderful ambiance.
I was a bit worried that as a large, popular tourist cafe, the menu items might be overpriced and lack in taste, but my concerns were completely unfounded!
03. Indermass Samdeok: Daegu's Must-Try Eats

Since we visited on such a hot day,
our first priority was a refreshing 'coffee transfusion,'
so we each ordered a cool Iced Americano (~$4).
For their signature dish, we ordered
the Daegu Kkultteok Bingsu (~$13).
It was such a popular Daegu dessert that almost every table seemed to have at least one bingsu!

Beyond coffee, they offered a variety of drinks like ade and tea. Popular summer seasonal beverages included the Matcha Short Latte (~$4) and Strawberry Matcha Latte (~$5).
The 'Ex-Boyfriend Toast' (~$7), topped with blueberry jam and cream cheese, was also quite popular!

With a wide array of baked goods like salt bread, butter tteok, and baguettes, along with various sandwiches and toasts, this is definitely a Daegu must-visit, perfect even for a meal!
04. A Taste Beyond Expectations

Since there were so many customers and we visited on a peak season weekend,
the wait for the Kkultteok Bingsu was quite long.

We spent a good while playing games with my niece. Honestly, given the atmosphere of a large, popular tourist cafe, my expectations for the taste had actually lowered even further after arriving.

But the moment I received the Kkultteok Bingsu and took a bite, it was so incredibly delicious that I felt almost apologetic for my lack of expectation! I vowed then and there to try their other baked goods next time.
Daegu Kkultteok (Honey Rice Cakes) is a representative local specialty dessert, featuring chewy glutinous rice cakes generously soaked in black sugar syrup. This menu item beautifully reinterprets that nostalgic treat, typically found in traditional markets, into a modern bingsu.

The soft, finely shaved 'snow ice' was soaked in a rich, sweet syrup, and there was a generous serving of red bean paste on one side. The harmony of the chewy Kkultteok, the nutty snow ice, almond slices, injeolmi powder, condensed milk, and red beans was absolutely superb.

I wondered if the rice cakes would harden on the cold ice, but they remained soft and chewy until the very last bite. The sweetness wasn't overpowering or cloying; it was subtle and pleasant, a flavor everyone, young and old, would love. It's a fantastic spot for a Daegu date or, like us, a perfect stop for a family trip.
05. Concluding Our Daegu Food Journey

It was such an exciting time getting to taste the Daegu Kkultteok Bingsu (honey rice cake shaved ice), a brilliant reimagining of a cherished local traditional snack into a stylish Daegu dessert!

It's quite famous, so it was bustling with people, and even though I was visiting on my own dime, I admit I was a little worried about the wait. But the moment I took a bite, all that waiting fatigue just melted away – it was truly a delightful spot to visit in Daegu!
It was such a joyous time spent with my older brother's family! And with its hip and sophisticated vibe, it's also a fantastic cafe for a cozy date in Daegu's Dongseong-ro, especially if you visit during a slightly less bustling time than the peak weekend, just like we tried to!

There are also many fantastic Daegu tourist spots nearby, like Gyodong Market, Gyesan Catholic Church, and Kim Gwang-seok Street, making it super easy to tie them all together into a wonderful itinerary. So, whether you're on a date or just exploring, make sure to stop by In the MAS Samdeok and treat yourself to a sweet and refreshing bowl of Kkultteok Bingsu!
