Planning a family vacation to Da Nang, Vietnam this summer?
If it's just you and your partner, transportation might not be a huge concern. However, if you're traveling with parents or children, one of the biggest headaches can be getting around.
While Grab (a ride-hailing service) is widely used in Da Nang, it can be a hassle if you have a lot of luggage or a group of four or more people, often requiring two separate cars. Plus, waiting for a ride in the scorching Vietnamese heat (often above 90°F) can quickly sap your energy.

The perfect solution to these inconveniences is a private car rental in Da Nang.
Today, I'll share my experience using a private car service and guide you through the booking process!
When you hear "Da Nang car rental," you might imagine renting a car to drive yourself, similar to what you'd do in the US.

However, car rental services in Vietnam typically involve a vehicle that comes with a dedicated driver for a set period.
This means you won't have to worry about navigating unfamiliar roads or dealing with local traffic – your driver handles it all!

With ample space for your luggage, these services are perfect not only for day tours but also for your departure day. You can enjoy a final city or nearby excursion and then have the car drop you off directly at the airport. (This is exactly how I utilized it!)

After booking the private car, you'll receive a message (often via KakaoTalk or WhatsApp) from the service provider to confirm your desired usage time and itinerary. Don't worry too much about finalizing every detail upfront; the itinerary can usually be adjusted on the day of your service.
We opted for a 10-hour, 4-seater vehicle, and our itinerary for the day looked like this:
Private Car Itinerary |
1. Hotel Pickup 2. Cuoi Ngo Cafe 3. Lunch near Han Market 4. Lotte Mart 5. Hoi An 6. Da Nang Airport |
Now, let me share our detailed Da Nang private car experience.

Our first pickup was from the Narod Hotel near My Khe Beach. We had requested an 11:00 AM start, but our driver arrived 10 minutes early and was already waiting for us.
From the moment we met, the driver greeted us with a bright smile, consistently opened and closed the car doors for us, and was incredibly friendly. This excellent first impression really set a positive tone for our day.
The driver could communicate in basic English, and for longer sentences, we used a translation app with voice recognition, so communication was smooth and easy.

After pickup, we headed to our first destination, Cuoi Ngo Cafe. Before we exited the car, the driver shared his messaging app ID and told us to simply send a message a few minutes before we were ready to leave, and he'd be waiting out front.
After about an hour at the cafe, we messaged him, and he promptly pulled up right in front. It was incredibly convenient not having to hail a Grab or search for our car in the sweltering heat. Such a relief!

Next, we moved towards Han Market, where we admired the iconic Pink Cathedral and enjoyed a delicious lunch. We then headed to Lotte Mart for some souvenir shopping.
The area around Lotte Mart can get quite congested, making it tricky to find a taxi. Our driver, however, had foresight. He parked the car strategically and contacted us, allowing us to comfortably step right into the vehicle after our shopping spree.

Our next stop was Hoi An, a charming town just outside Da Nang. The drive to Hoi An takes about an hour (approximately 18 miles), so we took the opportunity to catch up on some rest during the journey. Knowing that our driver was professionally assigned through an agency made us feel much more at ease.

Finally, for our departure, we received airport transfer service from Hoi An to Da Nang Airport. It started raining just as we were about to leave Hoi An.
Our driver was waiting right at the entrance of the Old Town, so we could hop into the car immediately – it was such a relief! Imagine how miserable it would have been to wait for a taxi in the rain!

Our 10-hour private car service concluded with the airport drop-off. Our driver was incredibly friendly, and being able to leave our luggage safely in the car throughout the day allowed us to fully immerse ourselves in our travels without any worries. It was truly convenient.
Moreover, having a dedicated driver meant we just had to send a quick message, and he'd be there to pick us up on time. This eliminated the constant hassle of finding and hailing taxis!

If you're looking for a genuinely hassle-free and comfortable trip, I wholeheartedly recommend the Da Nang private car service we've reviewed today.
Whether you use it like we did – for a final city tour combined with an airport transfer – or if you're traveling as a group or family, it takes all the stress out of transportation. You can simply relax and enjoy your vacation.
If convenience is a top priority for your travels, definitely consider a private car service based on our experience!
