How Much Cash Should You Bring to Da Nang?
A 2026 Guide to Exchange Rates, Airport ATMs, and Real Local Prices

How much spending money do you actually need for a 5-day trip to Da Nang?
If you're planning a trip to Vietnam, this is probably your biggest question right now.
I scoured countless travel blogs before my trip, trying to figure out the exact same thing!
✅ Best Exchange Spots & Current Rates
✅ Da Nang Airport ATM Locations & Guide
✅ Real Local Prices in Da Nang
I've put together a comprehensive breakdown based on my own recent experience.
Knowing this before you land will make your
Da Nang adventure so much smoother! :)

While your budget entirely depends on your travel style,
I budgeted about ~$615 for a 5-day, 3-night trip (for 2 people).
I pre-booked our Ba Na Hills tickets and round-trip airport transfers online,
and I linked my travel credit card to the Grab app for rides.

We spent roughly ~$230 on food and ~$92 for two spa sessions.
The rest went toward shopping at Han Market and Lotte Mart.
If you aren't big on shopping, ~$385 for two people is more than enough for 5 days.
(We bought custom-made shoes in Hoi An and went a bit crazy with souvenirs—
I'll share my shopping haul in another post soon!)

Aside from fancy seafood restaurants, we could eat like royalty and drink plenty of beer
for just ~$15 to ~$23 per meal for two. Food is incredibly affordable!
Our Grab rides for the entire trip cost around ~$38 total.
Since my card was linked to Grab, I didn't need to use cash for transport at all.
We absolutely loved the local street food, which kept our dining costs very low.
Even if you prefer eating at nicer restaurants popular with tourists,
budgeting ~$77 per person, per day
is plenty to cover great meals and daily massages!
I recommend withdrawing just enough cash from the airport ATM for your first night (like grabbing a late-night snack),
and exchanging the rest in Da Nang city.
Airport exchange counters notoriously offer the worst rates.
It's much smarter to use a no-foreign-transaction-fee debit card at an ATM,
or exchange a minimal amount of USD if you're in a pinch.
Best Exchange Spots near Han Market▼
These are both gold shops located right across from Han Market, making them super easy to find!
📍 Tiệm Vàng Soạn Hà
369F+4HX, Hải Châu 2, Hải Châu, Đà Nẵng 550000 Vietnam
📍 Tiệm Vàng Tâm Thịnh Lợi
34 Nguyễn Thái Học, Hải Châu 1, Hải Châu, Đà Nẵng 550000 Vietnam
✅ The Best Way to Exchange
Bring crisp, clean $100 USD bills.
Higher denominations always get the best exchange rate in Vietnam.
Instead of dealing with multiple currency conversions,
bringing $50 or $100 USD bills to exchange directly for Vietnamese Dong (VND) is the gold standard.
📍 Exchange Shop: TAM THINH LOI
✔️ Exchange Rate (May 2026): 100 USD = ~2,540,000 VND
When I exchanged money in May 2026,
the rate at the gold shop was almost identical to the official Google exchange rate.
Rates fluctuate, so always check the current exchange rate on the day you go!

As soon as you exit the arrivals hall, look to your right.
You'll likely spot the ATMs right away because of the queues.
Since we arrived on a busy late-night flight, one of us waited for the luggage
while the other headed straight out to line up for the ATM.

Different banks charge different withdrawal fees,
but I brought a travel debit card with zero foreign transaction fees.
(BIDV ATMs usually don't charge an access fee for these cards)
There is also a BIDV ATM conveniently located near Han Market!

Insert Card - Select English - Enter PIN

Cash Withdrawal - Default Account - Enter Amount - No (decline dynamic currency conversion if asked)
Sometimes ATMs will reject very large withdrawal requests.
If you get an error, try requesting a smaller amount.
(I successfully withdrew 2,000,000 VND in one go).
I withdrew 2,000,000 VND at the airport ATM
and exchanged the rest of my cash in two separate trips to the Han Market gold shops.
Rather than walking around with a massive wad of cash, it's safer to exchange it in batches.
Having a travel debit card is incredibly handy because you can just top it up and
withdraw more cash whenever you run low.
Vietnam's cost of living is an absolute dream! ♡
Eating at local spots feels at least half the price of tourist-trap restaurants.
