First, four adults visited, but since my mom and I tend to eat less, we started with small portions and later added more Ribeye and Gyutare style beef! Haha.

Wow, they had such a wide variety of drinks! From Masuzake (sake by the glass) for a quick sip to my favorites like Jizake (bottled sake) and Shochu (Japanese distilled liquor)!
Thoughtful Corkage Policy
Leaving behind that impressive drinks lineup, the beverage we brought to pair with our Yakiniku was Hibiki Harmony Master's Select. I purchased it duty-free on the ferry returning from a winter trip to Tsushima Island, thinking it would be the perfect match for this top-grade Hanwoo.
What's more, Chuncheon Yakiniku Seungwoo also allows corkage! 😆 Isn't it fantastic to be able to bring your cherished wine or whiskey to enjoy on a special occasion?
I tried to order sparkling water to make a highball, but they only had ginger ale and tonic water, so I settled for tonic water. However, the owner saw and thoughtfully switched it out for a Singha soda! Haha. This place truly has incredible service!
Neat and Impeccable Side Dishes
When I visit local Yakiniku restaurants in Japan, they often don't have many side dishes like these, which can make the meal feel greasy quickly, and I end up eating less than usual.
But Chuncheon Hanwoo hot spot Yakiniku Seungwoo is different! Not only do they offer a fantastic variety of side dishes, but each one was so perfectly prepared and delicious, making it an absolute match with the meat..🤤
These yeolmu kimchi (young radish kimchi) and deodeok muchim (bellflower root salad), in particular,
are special side dishes made with love by the owner's mother herself, brimming with authentic homemade flavor!!
No wonder they were so incredibly delicious ㅠㅠ
These side dishes even captivated the taste buds of my in-laws, whom we brought along! ♥
No lie, even now as I'm writing this post, I'm already craving them again.
Chuncheon's Must-Visit Beef Spot
Then came the al-deungsim (boneless ribeye) and saewusal (shrimp cut)!
Just looking at the vibrant color, you can already tell how amazing it tastes, right? It's a no-brainer! 🤤
When it comes to Yakiniku, it truly tastes best when grilled over a charcoal brazier, no doubt about it.
And you absolutely have to try grilling the deodeok (bellflower root) on the brazier too – it's incredibly delicious!
Perhaps because the saewusal (shrimp cut) is a part that's only available in small quantities,
it was marked as limited availability.
The marbling was fantastic, and there wasn't a single tough part!!
After finishing the deungsim (ribeye),
we were curious about salchisal (chuck flap) and ordered that, plus more ribeye!
There was no need to search for other sauces; it was perfectly delicious just with a dab of salt or fresh wasabi 🤤
And then, the much-anticipated and truly, truly delicious
Gyutare... topped generously with green onions in a special tare (sauce).
For Gyutare, just grill one side and wrap it with rice!
No questions asked, enjoy Gyutare with plain white rice... (It's served together when you order it!)
The sweet and savory combination delivers an absolutely incredible umami punch 🤤
The seasoning blends perfectly, and wrapping it with rice makes it truly exquisite!
I was genuinely full, but I ordered it again anyway – that's how good it was.
It's an irresistible, magical dish you just keep reaching for...
If you visit Yakiniku Seungwoo, you absolutely MUST try it 🥹
The Perfect Finish: Seaweed Soup, Doenjang Jjigae, and Asahi Draft Beer
Oh, and I also ordered an Asahi draft beer to perfectly cleanse my palate!!
With Gyutare and an Asahi draft beer,
I don't even need to go to Japan anymore, seriously! hahaha
This place really transports you to Japan!
Miyeokguk (seaweed soup) is provided for free,
and it was genuinely delicious too! It's perfect for a clean and refreshing finish.
