Many people arrive in Chiang Mai at night, and since the airport is only about a 10-minute taxi ride from Old Town, it's a great place to settle in late. Plus, getting to Jingjai Market and Coconut Market is even closer from Old Town than from Nimmanhaemin!

Old Town boasts plenty of budget-friendly accommodations! I'll break down the prices, whether they have a pool, and room features, including the place I stayed at myself *.*

Mali Hotel

Mali Hotel is the Chiang Mai Old Town accommodation I personally paid for and stayed at!

I wasn't planning on swimming, so I was looking for hotels without a pool. At an incredibly reasonable price, just over ~$36 per person per night, and with surprisingly clean rooms, I absolutely loved it!

📌 Daily cleaning, towel and water provided, plus luggage storage after checkout – the staff were so friendly, I was beyond satisfied! *.*

Looking at reviews for POR Singharaj from 2026, it's a highly-rated Chiang Mai Old Town accommodation, especially praised for its cleanliness, staff friendliness, breakfast, and swimming pool.

The breakfast menu changes daily, so enjoying your morning meal can be another delightful part of your trip at POR Singharaj *.*

The pool also has that quintessential Southeast Asian vacation vibe, perfect for snapping photos and relaxing with a swim. But above all, the rooms are truly spotless!

Moon Dragon Hotel Chiang Mai

👉 If you're looking for a budget-friendly hotel with a pool

A hotel with a pool that's a bit more affordable than POR Singharat.

While POR Singharat featured an emerald and white palette,

Moon Dragon has a distinctly warmer vibe!

And nearby, not only is there the famous Blue Noodle, a renowned local eatery,

but also, just a 10-minute walk away, you'll find the Old Town's famous Bart Coffee,

and even Deep Binder, a stationery and accessories shop great for exploring.

Its close proximity makes it absolutely perfect for navigating your travel itinerary!

It's in the heart of the Old Town, yet wonderfully quiet,

and best of all, the hotel view from the pool is absolutely stunning,

making it a fantastic spot for photos! *.*

⚠️ Just a heads up though, for rooms directly facing the pool,

you might hear a bit of noise during the day, so please keep that in mind.

Taupe Hotel

In a completely different league from the Chiang Mai accommodations we've seen so far,

is the Taupe Hotel, with its unique atmosphere!

Since I wasn't planning on swimming, among hotels without a pool,

I debated between Mali Hotel and Taupe Hotel.

The building itself feels clean and newly built,

❗️making it highly recommended for those sensitive to cleanliness.

While Mali Hotel has a slightly aged feel,

Taupe Hotel, being a newer establishment, boasts undeniable crisp cleanliness.

However, there are reviews mentioning the rooms are a bit small,

so if you prefer more space, I personally recommend Mali Hotel.

But I find Taupe Hotel's exterior and room interiors so appealing,

that if I'm booking a budget-friendly Old Town stay next time,

I'd definitely consider Taupe Hotel, haha!

When choosing your accommodation, rather than just looking at the price,

it's essential to check if it truly matches your travel itinerary and style.
