A place I visited twice during my Chiang Mai trip, a real gem I kept coming back to,
is none other than Mauyum Cafe.
They have such a wide variety of dishes,
making it perfect for sharing different plates with friends,
and the prices are really reasonable,
so I found myself going back just a few days after my first visit.
I'll be sharing my experiences from both visits
and even the specific dishes I re-ordered!

📍 Mauyum Cafe

Although it's called a cafe,
it's where you can enjoy a wide variety of Thai dishes and alcoholic beverages.
The vibe was definitely more like a local restaurant.
When I visited,
they had both indoor and outdoor seating.

There were also indoor seats with air conditioning,
so if it's hot, you might prefer a spot inside.
Restrooms were also available inside the establishment.

Menu and Prices |
At Mauyum,
you'll find everything from Som Tum to seafood dishes, stir-fries,
and even grilled and fried options, offering a truly diverse selection.
It was perfect for ordering a few different things to share.

During our two visits,
we ordered Pad Thai, Corn Som Tum, Morning Glory, Steamed Seafood Egg,
Coconut Seafood Curry, and Fried Chicken Wings, among other things.
First Visit: Ordered Menu and Review |
On our first visit, we paired our meal with some beer
and chose dishes for our main meal along with some complementary sides.
Pad Thai
The Pad Thai came topped with large shrimp
and was served with bean sprouts and chives.
If you're looking for a solid main dish,
this is a perfectly good option to add to your order.

Corn Som Tum
For Som Tum, we ordered the one with corn.
It came with corn, tomatoes, carrots, peanuts, and more
all mixed together.

It was so colorful and just beautiful to look at,
and unlike your usual papaya som tum,
it had a completely different, unique charm.

Morning Glory
We also made sure to order some morning glory.
It's a fantastic side dish that pairs well with so many different Thai dishes,
so it was perfect to add to our order when visiting with a group.

Seafood Steamed Egg
And the dish that truly stole the show for me that day was
the Seafood Steamed Egg.
It comes served in a special pot with a raised center,
where the steamed egg fills the sides,
and a generous helping of seafood crowns the dish.

I loved it so much on my first visit,
that I just had to order it again on my second trip.
If you're wondering what to eat at Ma Oyam,
I'd recommend starting with this dish.

Coconut Seafood Curry
The Coconut Seafood Curry was visually stunning,
as the dish came served directly inside a coconut shell,
making it perfect for snapping some amazing photos.
However, the spices were quite potent,
so it wasn't quite my cup of tea.

Fried Chicken Wings
This dish featured deliciously crispy fried chicken wings
served alongside a tasty dipping sauce.
Maybe it was because we indulged in so many other dishes,
but this one was so memorable that I only recalled it after seeing the photo!
It was a pretty standard dish for me, all things considered.

Second Visit: Menu & Review |
I was so impressed by Ma Oyam on my first visit that I just had to return.
This time, we ordered the corn som tum, morning glory, and a meat dish.
Of course, I couldn't forget the steamed egg!

On our second visit, we also enjoyed a bottle of Regency.
Sharing delicious food with friends
was the perfect way to wind down a day of adventures.

After two visits, my absolute top recommendations are:
the Steamed Egg and Corn Som Tum.
Both were so good that I ordered them again after trying them on my first visit,
so if you're new to Ma Oyam, these are definitely worth trying first.

If you're looking for a hearty main course, Pad Thai is a great choice,
and for a delicious side to share, morning glory is always a winner.
Adding them to your order would be a fantastic idea!
