Cheorwon Goseokjeong Flower Garden 2026: Autumn Bloom Guide

After my first visit this spring to see the vibrant canola flowers, I was completely hooked on the incredible photo opportunities. So, it was a no-brainer to return to Cheorwon Goseokjeong Flower Garden this autumn!

Last time, due to the early bloom, I received a full refund, making my visit essentially free. This autumn, with the ~$7 admission fee, I received a ~$4 voucher back, so the actual cost was only ~$4.

The voucher I received could be used immediately at the food market or for the 'Can Train' (a charming little train ride) on-site, so I decided to hop on the train.

When I first heard about Goseokjeong Flower Garden, I wondered, 'A flower garden in this chilly northern region?' It turns out this area was originally a military training ground. Local residents began transforming it by planting flowers and crafting rustic sculptures from wood.

Many flat, open spaces in Gangwon Province are designated military training zones.

Living amidst tanks and artillery fire, residents here must have felt the weight of national security and the lingering shadow of war every single day.

As someone accustomed to city life, I often forgot about it, but after my parents moved to Gangwon Province for farming, I truly began to see the people who live alongside military bases.

Ultimately, it's a meaningful place where the atmosphere of a training ground, once filled with wartime readiness and vague fear, has been beautifully transformed by flowers.

I was super lucky to catch a local traditional culture performance on Sunday! I always love checking out events like that.

The 'Can Train' circles the flower garden, taking you directly to the inner highlight spots. It's a great option if you find walking long distances challenging or if you simply want to see the entire garden at once.

The 'Can Train' ride costs a flat ~$4 for everyone, with no local or senior discounts.

Even though the sun can still be quite intense these days, a pleasant breeze often sweeps through, making the train ride a refreshing experience.

The scenery you encounter inside is simply breathtaking. The windmill hill, the serene pond, and the vibrant autumn sky create an absolutely magical harmony!

Heading back towards the entrance, I spotted a flower crown rental stand next to the food market. I grabbed one and headed back into the garden for more photos.

Rental is free; simply leave your contact information in the logbook.

Honestly, even going solo, I felt absolutely fantastic!

I highly recommend wearing a lovely outfit, donning a flower crown, and capturing some amazing 'life shots' here. As for me, I'm still working on my 'power blogger' confidence, so I still find it a bit awkward to pose for pretty solo pictures when there are lots of people around. Oh well!

The scenery truly is stunning.

I arrived around 10:00 AM on a Sunday morning. While the parking lot was quite full, even a nervous parker like me found a spot. Plus, it wasn't overly crowded, which made taking beautiful photos a breeze.

Even though it's much cooler now, the sun can still be quite strong, so I recommend visiting in the morning or late afternoon.

They say late September to early October is the peak season, but it's already beautiful enough that I'd recommend visiting anytime throughout autumn.

Near the entrance, you'll find a food market, a cooling rest area, restrooms, first aid, umbrella rentals, photo printing services, and other convenient amenities.

The market offers traditional Korean foods like buckwheat crepes (memil-jeonbyeong), various savory pancakes (jeon), and acorn jelly salad (dotorimuk-muchim), along with other local products.

After exploring the flower garden, take the back exit to visit Goseokjeong Pavilion — it makes for a perfect itinerary.
