Cabinet Yangyang: A Cozy Stay in Yangyang
An Ocean View Hotel Review Right in Front of Seorak Beach
Words & Photos by: Today's Clear Sky
With lectures all summer long, I couldn't really take a proper vacation.
Even after the lectures ended, a string of postponed tasks awaited me, so a long trip was out of the question. I barely managed to squeeze in a one-night trip to Sokcho and Yangyang.
Since it was a short trip, I really wanted to soak up the ocean view, at least from my accommodation. I searched for a place right in front of Seorak Beach that offered a lovely atmosphere and great value for money, and that's how I ended up booking Cabinet Yangyang.

Getting There & Parking
Cabinet Yangyang is right in front of Seorak Beach, making it easy to find. Naksansa Temple is a 3-minute drive away, and Hujin Port is within walking distance.
There's a private parking lot behind the accommodation, which was relatively spacious. If it's full, you can use the public parking lot right next door.

Easy Kiosk Check-in
I checked myself in at the kiosk located at the entrance. The check-in process was simple; I just needed to enter the reservation number I received via text after booking. If any issues arise, you can simply inquire at the cafe on the first floor.
We were assigned a room on the 3rd floor, and since there's no elevator, we had to carry our luggage up the stairs. If you have heavy suitcases, this might be a slight inconvenience.

Our Small but Beautifully Decorated Twin Ocean View Room
The room we booked was a Standard Twin Ocean View with two single beds.
The moment I stepped into the room, there it was... the ocean! This is exactly why you come to Gangwon-do, right? Haha.
While the room wasn't particularly spacious, it was neatly decorated in wood tones, and the bedding and overall room condition were spotless.

Best of all, I loved that I could still see the ocean even when lying in bed.
Although the beach shower area obstructed the view a bit, I really enjoyed listening to music and gazing at the rainy sea.
I was also hoping to catch the sunrise, but it kept raining, so I missed it. Such a shame! ㅠㅠ

Our room had a Bluetooth speaker, and I heard some rooms even have an LP player!

The bathroom was stocked with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Everything from the cleanliness to the water pressure and drainage worked perfectly, with no issues at all.

Communal Kitchen and Cozy Lounge Area
Cabinet Yangyang has a communal kitchen on the first floor, which I found incredibly convenient to use. The kitchen was well-equipped with everything needed for simple cooking, including a refrigerator, induction cooktop, microwave, and even pots, pans, dishes, and cutlery.

The space was clean, and there were plenty of tables, allowing us to enjoy our meals at leisure.
We even brought back some sashimi from Sokcho and heartily cooked up some spicy fish stew (Maeuntang)! Haha. I particularly loved that we could eat comfortably without leaving any food smells in our room.

The next day, I grabbed a simple breakfast like eggs and instant rice from the CU convenience store located right in the building and enjoyed it. There was also a cafe in the building, but it wasn't open when I had breakfast, so I couldn't check it out.

Of course, an 'aesthetic stay' always comes with doodles and notes! Haha.
The notes left by previous guests were packed, creating that perfectly 'aesthetic stay' vibe.

Strolling the Beach and Watching the Surfers
Yangyang is known as a surfing paradise, and it truly lived up to its name! Even on a rainy day, the ocean was bustling with surfers.
Setting up a camping chair on the beach and watching the surfers, I felt for a moment like I was abroad.

After a summer that felt like a war, suddenly having such leisurely time felt both disorienting and incredibly blissful.

After dinner, I took a walk along the beach and even checked out Hujin Port's Live Fish Market. I didn't go inside, but it was surprisingly close, making it seem like a great spot to grab some fresh sashimi.

What I Loved About It
Seorak Beach is right out front, perfect for enjoying the ocean!
It boasts an aesthetic interior and the price is quite reasonable.
The shared kitchen and cooking utensils are well-equipped.
Having a convenience store and cafe in the building is super convenient.
Good to Know Before You Go
There's no elevator, so you'll need to use the stairs to get to your room.
Outlets might be limited, so bringing a power strip could be handy.
OnetheMalgeum's Takeaway
It's an ocean-view accommodation with a beautiful aesthetic, and it also comes with practical benefits like a shared kitchen and a convenience store.
I couldn't see the sunrise due to the rain, but lying in bed with music on, looking out at the cloudy East Sea, was still absolutely wonderful.
Next time, I definitely want to come back on a clear day and catch the sunrise from the room! Haha.
Check out the clip and please give it a heart!
