Boracay Money Exchange Guide 2026: Best PHP Rates

When traveling to Southeast Asia, the gold standard is usually to bring clean, crisp USD bills and exchange them for local currency on arrival. (Though these days, some travelers just bring their home currency—like a couple of ~$35 bills—and exchange those directly, USD still gets you the absolute best rates.)

To get the most out of your cash, you will want to find a local money changer with solid rates. If you have done any research on Boracay, you have probably heard of Nikko Forex. It is legendary for having the best rates on the island, and there used to be two locations.

Or so I thought... lol.

Both locations were slightly tucked away from the main road, but the southern branch was much closer to where I was staying.

Even so, I decided to walk all the way to the northern branch. Why? Because I wanted to compare the rates between the two Nikko Forex locations to write a truly epic comparison post for you guys. Talk about dedication...

Well... plot twist.

The northern branch is permanently closed. The sign says they relocated, but they actually just consolidated into the other existing location.

But wait, Google Maps said it was open!

I trusted the app and walked all that way in the heat, only to find a shuttered storefront.

As of my visit, the listing had not been updated. It was a completely wasted trip.

Fortunately, other travelers have since updated the reviews, so you won't make the same mistake I did.

Don't worry, though. Nikko Forex isn't the only game in town. You can exchange money at D'Mall, along White Beach, and even directly at major resorts like the Henann Garden Resort. Let's look at how they stack up.

V.B. QUEEN'S MONEY CHANGER (D'Mall)

First up is the D'Mall area. You don't really need to search for this one—you will naturally run into it while wandering around the main shopping district.

There are also exchange booths right along the beachfront pathway. You will spot this one easily as you walk down the sand.

I won't pinpoint the exact coordinates for these first two because, honestly, once you see the rates, you probably won't want to exchange your money here anyway.

Like any proper money changer, they have an armed security guard standing watch.

The rate here was slightly better than the one in D'Mall, but still not the best.

NIKKO FOREX

Finally, I made my way to the active Nikko Forex. The sign is quite small, making it incredibly easy to miss. I actually walked right past it and had to double back!

(Plus, the storefront doesn't look like your typical polished exchange booth—it's very low-key.)

So, how was the rate?

​It was hands-down the best rate on the island. The difference was clear.

I ended up exchanging $400 here. (My original plan was to do $200 at each Nikko location, but since one was closed, I did the full amount here.)

​As a quick reference, you can also exchange money directly at the Henann Garden Resort front desk.

The rates at the resort aren't great compared to the local booths, so you probably won't use them unless you're in a pinch. That said, if you're only exchanging a small amount, the convenience of doing it at your lobby might outweigh the couple of dollars you'd save by walking to Nikko Forex.

Just keep in mind that exchange rates fluctuate daily, so what was the best option during my trip might shift slightly. When in doubt, stick close to your resort unless you're changing large sums!
