Best Western Yantai Review 2026: Value, Pool, Non-Smoking Rooms

Accommodation costs in Yantai, China, are genuinely affordable.

The hotel I stayed at was a 4-star property with spacious, high-floor rooms, a swimming pool, and a fitness center, all for just around ~$58 per night. These days, depending on the dates, you can even book it for as low as ~$40.

When booking hotels in China, one thing that always concerned me was the possibility of smoking in rooms. But at the Best Western Hotel where we stayed, we were able to confidently select a non-smoking room.

Having experienced it firsthand for two nights, I've put together everything from the reasons to recommend this Yantai hotel to its rooms, prices, and facilities like the swimming pool.

1. Reasons to Recommend

The biggest reason I recommend the Best Western Hotel as your accommodation in Yantai is simply how excellent the rooms and facilities are for the price.

It's a 4-star hotel with spacious rooms of approximately 30~35m², complete with facilities like a swimming pool and fitness center.

When I visited in August, it was peak travel season for Chinese tourists in Yantai, so a night was around ~$58. However, in autumn, you can book it for ~$36-~$44.

Also, when traveling in China and booking hotels, it's crucial to check for non-smoking room availability.

Some hotels have both smoking and non-smoking rooms, and some assign rooms based on availability at check-in. But with the Best Western Hotel, you can specifically book a non-smoking room!

With a large shopping mall just about a 2-minute walk away, you don't need to go far to buy anything you need, from Chinese beverage brands like Heytea, Chagee, and Cha Bai Dao to a big supermarket.

In the evening, we could even head to the small night market next to the mall for some draft beer and late-night snacks, then return straight to the hotel.

2. The Rooms

The room we were assigned was a high-floor room on the 24th floor.

The first thing I noticed when I opened the door and stepped inside was how incredibly spacious the room was.

We brought one 24-inch and one 20-inch suitcase, and even with both fully open, there was still plenty of space left. To exaggerate a little, it felt big enough to spread out eight 30-inch suitcases, so it would definitely feel comfortable even with a lot of luggage.

I also really liked that there was a sofa.

China, in particular, is a country where people often enjoy late-night snacks or order delivery food after a day of travel, so having a dedicated space to eat in your accommodation is important.

In many budget hotels, even for a double room, there's often only one chair, so one person ends up perching on the bed. Here, both of us could comfortably sit on the sofa and enjoy our late-night snacks.

The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the bedding was clean overall, which really helped recover from the fatigue accumulated after exploring in the hot weather.

Next to the bed, all the room lighting control switches were gathered, so there was no need to move around before going to sleep.

However, you won't be able to plug in your 220V devices directly, so a travel adapter is necessary.

I brought a Lulumi travel multi-adapter, and it was convenient to plug just that one in and charge my phone, power bank, and other devices simultaneously.

On the bedside table, you'll find a phone and notepad to contact the front desk, and in the closet near the entrance, there are bathrobes, room slippers, and a hairdryer. I was particularly impressed with the hairdryer's performance – it dried my hair wonderfully!

They even provide four bottles of complimentary water! The curtains are a double layer of lace and blackout blinds, and you can adjust how much they open using the tablet on the table. It was astounding that a room with such high-end features only cost ~$58 per night!

The bathroom was also fantastic, with the sink, toilet, and shower booth all separated. This was especially convenient for getting ready in the morning, as two of us could get ready at the same time.

3. Price

I traveled to Yantai in mid-August and booked this hotel for a 2-night stay for around ~$117.

It turns out Yantai is a popular summer vacation spot for Chinese travelers, making August peak season. But if you search for accommodation now, you can find a stay for around ~$36-44 per night!

Considering it's a 4-star hotel with spacious rooms and even a swimming pool, ~$58 was already fantastic value, but at around ~$36 a night, there's absolutely no reason not to go!

I usually book hotels in China through Trip.com.

As a Chinese-based travel platform, it offers a vast selection of accommodations, including many hotels that don't appear on Agoda or Booking.com.

In fact, the Yantai hotel I stayed at was difficult to book through Agoda or Booking.com.

4. Amenities

I chose this hotel for its amazing value, but it also comes with excellent amenities! There's a gym on the 30th floor.

While the variety of equipment isn't extensive, it's perfectly fine for a quick workout during your travels.

On the 31st floor, you'll find an indoor swimming pool.

My travel schedule was packed, so I didn't get to use it, but from the photos, the pool looks quite long and perfect for a good swim.

Additionally, the breakfast restaurant was quite spacious, and they even had facilities like ping-pong and billiards tables.

Just a 2-minute walk away, there's a large shopping mall featuring various franchise drink brands. Right next to it, a small night market pops up, perfect for enjoying some late-night snacks with a refreshing draft beer!

If you're looking to book a guaranteed smoke-free room in Yantai, or seeking a fantastic value hotel with spacious rooms and even a swimming pool for less than ~$73, then the Best Western Hotel is highly recommended!
