My partner and I often take travel photos📷 when we travel abroad.

For this trip too, we wondered where to take them.

In Spain, if we did several tours,

the guides said they would take photos of the two of us too,

so we decided to take them in Portugal.

Now, the dilemma was Lisbon or Porto?

While Lisbon's famous trams and yellow backdrops are lovely,

this time, we wanted to capture ourselves amidst Porto's scenery,

with the Douro River and its connecting orange roofs.

So, this time's travel photos were decided to be taken in Porto!✨

Porto Travel Photos: Why We Chose Beijuporto

When I look for travel photographers,

the photographer's style and

the reviews from those who've had shoots are what I prioritize.

Ultimately, expressions are the most important, so

I carefully checked whether the atmosphere during the photoshoot was comfortable,

if the natural moments of the couple and the scenery were captured well,

and what the color tone of the received photos was like.

While browsing on MyRealTrip by highest rating,

I found Beijuporto, which had many reviews and a great atmosphere in the photos within those reviews.

So, we decided on Beijuporto!✨

Because of the price, we also considered iPhone travel photos,

but my partner prefers photos taken with a professional camera,

so we decided to go with a camera photoshoot this time too!

Beijuporto Prices and Booked Options

The package we initially booked was

for 2 people, Afternoon + Sunset

with the non-consent option for portrait and copyright use.

At the time, the payment amount was ~$167 per person.

The total price for 2 people was ~$334.

We felt uncomfortable with our photos being used on the company's social media or

portfolio,

so we chose the non-consent option.

(Which, unfortunately, made the price higher ㅠ)

Still, MyRealTrip offers

various payment and card discount benefits,

so it's good that you can book a bit more affordably.

Afternoon Shoot Instead of Sunset Due to Rain Forecast

We had heard that we could capture Porto's colorful scenery,

so we had initially booked the most popular

Afternoon + Sunset slot in advance.

(We booked about 6 months before the shoot)

But unfortunately!!!

There was a continuous rain forecast for the day of the shoot.

Ultimately...

it seemed unlikely we'd see a sunset that day,

so, regretfully, we moved our shoot to an earlier time with a higher chance of no rain.

We ended up shooting for 1 hour starting at 2:30 PM that day.

For light rain, we were told we could use umbrellas for the shoot,

but if it rained too much,

we'd adjust the time or date.

Any price difference due to changing the time slot was

partially refunded by Beijuporto,

so there were no issues at all.

During the actual shoot, it was cloudy and

incredibly windy,

and by the end of the shoot,

it even started to rain.

It was a relief that the weather held up until we finished shooting,

but we had originally hoped for sunny Porto scenery,

so the weather was quite disappointing ㅠ

Beijuporto 1-Hour Travel Photoshoot

Atmosphere and Attire

The photographer we met

was great at creating a comfortable atmosphere for the shoot.

While they weren't the type to give incredibly detailed pose directions for every shot,

they did provide direction when needed,

and we were satisfied⭐️ with the natural flow of us moving freely and taking photos.

We've had several travel photoshoots

in other destinations before

(Sydney, Santorini, Prague, New York, etc.),

and for us, natural expressions are more important than poses,

so it wasn't particularly difficult.

We wore light-colored clothing

in white and ivory tones,

and since we would be moving continuously between photo spots like Dom Luís I Bridge and Jardim do Morro,

both my partner and I wore sneakers.

My Experience Receiving Over 500 Originals and 20 Retouched Photos

About 10 days after the photoshoot,

I received an email notification along with

the first batch of photos, with brightness and colors adjusted.

I received 573 photos.

Out of those, I selected 20 photos that I loved

and sent them over.

The retouched versions were also delivered about 10 days later,

and I was able to receive them right away!

Compared to other snapshot photography companies we've used before,

the speed at which we received the photo files

felt like the fastest yet!

At first, because of the cloudy weather and strong winds,

I was worried about how the photos would turn out.

But when I received them, I was relieved to see that

the beautiful scenery of Porto and our natural expressions,

which were so important to me, were captured perfectly.

Seriously, the wind was so strong that day,

my hair and skirt were absolutely wild!

But thankfully, there were still some great shots we could save.

It was a huge relief that I had tied my hair back for the shoot!

I distinctly remember how difficult it was to catch the right timing for photos on the Dom Luís I Bridge due to the fierce winds.

(+ Oh, and I saw foreigners behind us clinging to their umbrellas, lol!)

While there's a slight regret that I would have loved them even more if the weather had been perfect,

the results of our 1-hour Porto snapshot session

were still incredibly satisfying!

They brightened the colors beautifully against the cloudy background,

and even removed obstacles like cranes

to make the photos look super clean-!

I only just realized they removed the crane in the background

while organizing the photos this time, haha!

Rather than an overly styled magazine shoot feel,

I was so satisfied because it beautifully captured the Porto cityscape

and our natural selves.
