My partner and I love capturing our overseas adventures with candid snap photos 📷.

For this trip, we debated where to take them. Since tour guides in Spain often help take photos of couples when you join various tours, we decided Portugal would be the perfect spot.

Then came the big decision: Lisbon or Porto?

While Lisbon's famous trams and vibrant yellow backdrops are fantastic,

this time, we really wanted to capture ourselves amidst Porto's breathtaking scenery, with the Douro River and endless orange rooftops.

So, our snap photoshoot was officially decided: Porto it was! ✨

When researching snap photoshoots,

I always prioritize the photographer's style and

reviews from previous clients.

Ultimately, expressions are key,

so I paid close attention to whether the atmosphere during the shoot was comfortable,

if the photos beautifully captured both the landscape and our natural selves,

Rain Forecast Led to Afternoon Shoot Instead of Sunset

We had originally booked the most popular

Afternoon + Sunset slot because we wanted to capture Porto's vibrant, colorful scenery.

(We booked about 6 months in advance!)

But wouldn't you know it?!

On the day of the shoot, there was a continuous rain forecast.

Ultimately...

it looked like a sunset was out of the question for the day. So, unfortunately, we decided to shift our schedule earlier to a time when there was a higher chance of no rain,

and ended up shooting for one hour from 2:30 PM that afternoon.

While light rain can be worked with using umbrellas, we were informed that if it rained too heavily, we'd need to adjust the time or date.

Beiju Porto kindly provided a partial refund for the price difference due to changing our time slot, so there were absolutely no issues.

During the actual shoot, it was not only cloudy but also incredibly windy!

And just as we were finishing up,

it even started to rain.

We were so relieved it held off until the end of our session, but since we had originally hoped for sunny Porto scenery, the weather was quite a disappointment 😔.

Beiju Porto: Our 1-Hour Snap Photoshoot Experience

Atmosphere & Outfits

Our photographer created such a relaxed atmosphere,

which made the shoot really enjoyable.

While they weren't the type to meticulously direct every single pose,

they did provide guidance where needed,

and we were perfectly happy with the flow of the shoot, which allowed us to move naturally and capture genuine moments. ⭐️

We've had snap photoshoots in several other travel destinations

(like Sydney, Santorini, Prague, and New York),

so we know that natural expressions are more important than perfect poses. This meant we didn't find it too challenging.

We both wore light-colored clothing, primarily white and ivory tones.

Since we were constantly moving between shooting locations like the Dom Luís I Bridge and Jardim do Morro,

both my partner and I opted for sneakers.

Review: Receiving Over 500 Original Photos and 20 Retouched Edits

About 10 days after the shoot,

along with a notification email,

we received the first draft with brightness and colors adjusted—

all 573 photos!

From those, we selected our favorite 20 photos

and sent them over.

The retouched versions also arrived about 10 days later,

which was incredibly fast!

Compared to other snap photoshoot companies we've used before,

the speed at which we received the photo files

felt like the fastest yet!

Initially, because of the cloudy weather and strong winds,

we were worried about how the photos would turn out.

But when we received them, thankfully,

they beautifully captured the Porto scenery I valued so much,

and our natural selves, which was a huge relief!

The wind was seriously strong that day,

making my hair and skirt go wild,

but we still managed to get some great shots.

So glad I tied my hair up for the shoot!

I remember how hard it was to catch the right moment for photos

on the Dom Luís I Bridge due to the fierce winds.

(+ Foreigners behind us were holding onto their umbrellas for dear life, haha)

While a part of me wishes the weather had been better for even more perfect shots,

the final photo results for our 1-hour Porto snap shoot

were absolutely satisfying.

They brightened the colors against the cloudy background,

and even removed obstacles like cranes

to make the photos look super clean!

I only noticed they removed the crane from the background

while organizing the photos this time, haha!
