Beijing Convenience Store Food Recommendations

Whenever I travel, I always make sure to try the local
breakfast menu of that country.
It's a fantastic way to dive into the local food culture and
discover unique dishes you might not find elsewhere.
Today, for those of you staying in Wangfujing during your Beijing trip,
I'll be sharing a fantastic Jianbing spot and some must-try
convenience store snacks perfect for breakfast!
📍 Xiangsu Jidan Guanbing (香酥鸡蛋灌饼)

The Jianbing spot I visited was
conveniently located right across from the Sunworld Hotel Wangfujing,
making it super easy to get to.
Plus, seeing how packed it was with locals bright and early,
I knew it had to be an authentic local gem – so I just had to check it out!
There's a dumpling shop right next door, and you can grab your Jianbing to go and eat it there.
(We actually took ours back to the hotel to enjoy!)
📍 What We Ordered
Jianbing with Sausage (煎饼加烤肠): 10 CNY
We simply ordered Jianbing, but
this place offers a wide variety of dishes beyond just Jianbing,
including Kaoliangmian (cold noodles), sausages, Doujiang (soy milk), porridge, corn, and more.
It'd be wonderful to order a selection of items and truly savor
the local Chinese breakfast experience!
On one side, you can watch them skillfully make Jianbing right before your eyes.
They whip one up incredibly fast!
Crackers and lettuce are standard fillings, and
we opted to add sausage to ours!
The Jianbing was ready in a flash, and
it was generously sized – one is definitely enough to keep you full
for a hearty breakfast!
The portion size and texture of the Jianbing were truly satisfying.
While it had a hint of cilantro, even my parents, who aren't usually big fans,
enjoyed it without any hesitation.
My only thought was that if their unique sauce had been added a bit more generously,
it would have been even more flavorful!
So, when you order, it might be a good idea to ask for extra sauce!
Next up, I'll be sharing some Seven-Eleven convenience store snacks
that we enjoyed alongside our Jianbing for breakfast!
First up is purjoy yogurt!
purjoy yogurt has real fruit flavor
with fruit bits that you can chew, making it a delight to eat.
What's more, this yogurt is wonderfully thick and creamy,
yet incredibly smooth, making it perfect to enjoy in the morning.
If you're someone who enjoys a yogurt a day, I highly recommend purjoy!
Next up is Naipizi Suannai (奶皮子酸奶) yogurt!
This yogurt has a texture similar to cheese pudding,
it's incredibly thick and creamy with a strong cheese flavor,
which personally made it an absolute favorite dessert for me!
Plus, with Beijing landmarks drawn on the packaging,
it really gives you that "I'm traveling in Beijing" vibe.
Last but not least, 7-Eleven convenience store
iced coffee!
7-Eleven convenience store coffee is reliably good no matter which country you're in,
so I decided to give it a try.
The iced Americano at Beijing's 7-Eleven
was indeed a pleasant and easy drink.
Since jianbing can be quite substantial,
coffee makes for a pretty great pairing!
As an extra tip, I also recommend
donut peaches, which you can find at supermarkets and other stores, as a breakfast item!
I was pleasantly surprised to find these flat peaches in Beijing,
as I'd only thought you could enjoy them in Europe.
They're sweet, so they go really well
with jianbing for breakfast!
If you're deliberating over breakfast options during your Beijing trip,
I recommend trying a little bit of jianbing, yogurt, fruit, and other various foods!
Especially if you try other menu items like doujiang (soy milk) or corn alongside your jianbing at a jianbing stall,
your breakfast satisfaction will definitely be high.
Plus, with prices ranging from just ~$1-2,
you can try them all without any financial burden!
So, keep these recommendations in mind
and enjoy a satisfying breakfast in Beijing!

Xiangshao Jidan Guanbing is conveniently located directly opposite the Sunworld Hotel in Wangfujing. It's a popular local spot, attracting many locals from the morning.
A Jianbing with added sausage at 'Xiangshao Jidan Guanbing' costs 10 yuan. Besides Jianbing, the shop offers a variety of breakfast items such as Kaoliangmian (cold noodles), sausages, Doujiang (soy milk), porridge, and corn.
Purjoy yogurt has real fruit bits, a thick yet smooth texture. Naipizi Suannai yogurt has a texture similar to cheese pudding, is thick, has a strong cheese flavor, and features Beijing landmarks on its packaging.
The Jianbing typically includes crackers and lettuce, with a hint of coriander. The umami flavor would be enhanced if more of the shop's unique sauce were added, so it's recommended to ask for extra sauce when ordering.
