How to Get to Baščaršija Poštna Branch
📍 Baščaršija (Maribor Poštna)
Poštna ulica 8, 2000 Maribor, Slovenia
📍 Maribor Castle
Grajska ulica 2, 2000 Maribor, Slovenia
📍 Old Bridge
Glavni Most, 2000 Maribor, Slovenia
The Baščaršija Poštna branch is
located in Maribor's Old Town.
It's conveniently located on the way to Maribor Castle, right after crossing the Old Bridge, a symbol of Maribor,
making it perfect for a stop while exploring the Old Town.

Since it's in the heart of the Old Town, there's
no dedicated parking lot, so you'll need to use
nearby street parking or the paid parking lot in front of Maribor Cathedral.
The area in front of the restaurant is a pedestrian street,
so there was outdoor seating right in front of the eatery.
Most of the other outdoor seats were empty, but Baščaršija's seemed to have all the customers!
It's a place popular with both locals and tourists,
so it wasn't hard to find.

1. Restaurant Atmosphere and Seating

When I entered the restaurant, the entrance area was under construction,
making the atmosphere a bit cluttered.
I was just lingering at the entrance when they invited me to sit wherever was comfortable.

The interior was brimming with Eastern European charm
and quaintly decorated. There was even a courtyard space further inside the building.
If you're dreaming of an al fresco dining experience,
I'd recommend the courtyard seating inside, rather than the outdoor area where people constantly pass by.

As for me, the weather felt a little warm,
so I chose a seat indoors.
While it's a place that shows its age a bit,
there were charming little details everywhere,
making it a spot where you could truly soak in that European ambiance.

Even with the sun blazing down,
Europeans seemed to prefer outdoor seating.
There were plenty of outdoor tables set up in front of the restaurant,
so you could definitely enjoy an outdoor seat if you wished.
2. Menu & Prices

Wanting to try some traditional Slovenian food, I looked it up and discovered
a Balkan dish called Cevapi.
It's a dish similar to grilled minced meat patties, made with various types of meat and grilled over charcoal. They offered a variety of set menus.
What I especially loved was that they had small-sized combo menus that you could enjoy even as a solo diner!

Besides that, they also offer a variety of dishes including seasonal soup menus,
Schnitzel, and salads.

With side dishes and dessert menus available too,
it's perfect for a group visit, allowing you to sample a bit of everything!
3. My Personal Menu Review

First, I ordered a refreshing beer.
Since the beer arrived quite a bit before the food,
if you prefer to enjoy your beer with your meal,
I'd recommend ordering your food first and then your beer later,
or perhaps ordering a starter to go with it.

As I was sipping my beer,
the combo menu I ordered soon arrived. It was a set featuring 5 Cevapi, a chicken skewer, grilled chicken thigh,
and accompanied by minced onions and bread.
The meat was absolutely delicious, with no unpleasant gamey taste whatsoever,
It was a bit salty, and some parts were a little burnt.
It was a bit better when paired with bread and beer.
If you're visiting with a group, I recommend ordering the Cevapi combo menu
along with other dishes.
