Da Nang Banh Mi Co Tien
is a banh mi spot popular with Koreans,
so I was really curious about it.
Honestly, I didn't know it was famous,
but it turns out it's quite a well-known banh mi shop?!
So, I decided to visit it on my trip to Da Nang.
I'll share my experience of 'open run' at Banh Mi Co Tien
and my honest review of trying it myself.

Known as a popular banh mi spot in Da Nang,
Banh Mi Co Tien was quite close to Han Market.
It's about a 2-minute walk from Han Market.
You'll be there in no time.

If you find a sign like this at the alley entrance,
you're in the right place!
A friendly Korean sign

You need to go all the way to the end of this alley.
Is this the right way? Yes, it is.
Be careful of cockroaches and rats in the alley!

When you reach the end of the alley and turn left,
Banh Mi Co Tien will be right there.

It seems like a successful banh mi shop that started as a street stall
and eventually opened a full store.
Da Nang Banh Mi Co Tien: My 'Open Run' Experience (Waiting)

I visited a little after 8 AM,
and was able to go straight in without any waiting.
A few tables were already occupied,
and customers kept arriving even after I did.
All the customers were 100% Korean tourists.
Of course, myself included haha.

There aren't many tables,
so if you visit during peak hours to dine in,
you might have to wait a bit.
If you're getting takeout, maybe you'll wait less?
Da Nang Banh Mi Co Tien Menu: My Review of Trying the Beef Cheese and Chicken Banh Mi
Banh Mi Co Tien Menu |

There are about 14 banh mi options on the menu,
It all depends on your chosen toppings!
And with Korean descriptions available, ordering was a breeze,
plus, the prices were quite affordable.
Banh Mi Co Tien's most popular menu items are these three must-tries:
✅ #7 Fried Egg Banh Mi 39,000동
✅ #9 Fried Chicken Banh Mi 49,000동
✅ Cheese Beef Banh Mi 59,000동

They also offered combo menus that included a drink.
It seemed to be about ~$1 cheaper than ordering items separately.

The drink menu features coffee, juice, soft drinks,
Corn & Coconut Milk,
and a variety of smoothies.
The drinks were surprisingly affordable too!
My Personal Review |

I went for the #9 Fried Chicken Banh Mi and
the #10 Cheese Beef Banh Mi.
For drinks, we got a Mango Smoothie and a Watermelon Smoothie.

The Fried Chicken Banh Mi wasn't exactly what I expected;
it just had chicken bathed in a spicy sauce.
The sauce was spicy and quite delicious,
but the chicken itself had a particular 'chickeny' scent that wasn't quite for me.
As for the Cheese Beef Banh Mi,
I'd read reviews claiming it tasted like pizza,
and after trying it, I totally got what they meant!
With beef, cheese, cabbage, and bell peppers inside,
and the chili sauce having a slight pizza sauce vibe,
it really did give off pizza vibes.
This one was tasty too, but
the meat felt a little bit tough?!

After trying it for myself, I noticed the spice flavors weren't too overpowering,
and the taste was surprisingly familiar.
While I could definitely see why so many Korean customers flock here,
I was a little disappointed that it didn't feel as authentically 'Vietnamese' as I'd hoped.
It gave me a slight 'Did I really come all the way to Da Nang for this?' kind of feeling.
Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad, LOL!
But seriously, the banh mi bread itself was about 75 times better than any I've had in Korea!

The shop was pretty clean, the staff were friendly,
and above all, it offered great value for money,
making it a spot worth checking out at least once.
