Hello from Hyeryu, your happy global explorer! Let's dive into today's travel journal 🌏
One of the things I was most excited about for my trip to Kyrgyzstan was hiking Altyn-Arashan 🥾
The night before the hike, I stayed at the ARASHAN Guest House in Ak-Suu village, which is located super close to the trailhead!
They offer a drop-off service right to the trailhead and are located near the Ak-Suu Hot Springs, so I highly recommend this spot. Let me introduce you to this guest house 💚
📌 Why I Chose This Guest House 📌
• Close to Altyn-Arashan, Ak-Suu Hot Springs, and Karakol
• Perfect location for staying before and after your Altyn-Arashan hike
1. Location & Basic Info

📍 ARASHAN Guest House.

2. Booking the Guest House
I booked mine through Agoda,
but it seems like Booking.com is also
widely used in Kyrgyzstan.
I highly recommend comparing both platforms
and booking wherever offers the cheaper rate!

3. Exterior & Interior

When you arrive, they will slide open the large iron gates
so you can park your rental car in the private parking area.
ARASHAN Guest House has such a cozy, welcoming vibe—
just like a local family home!
It's a family-run guesthouse,
and everyone was incredibly kind.
Their eldest son speaks English, which made communication a breeze!
Hands down, one of the best places I stayed during my trip 🤍

There's also a lovely green garden. If you have
some downtime, it's the perfect spot to sit back and relax!
We went to Ala-Kul Pass and completely passed out afterwards though 🥹

There's also a cozy lounge area in the 1st-floor common space,
but we ended up chilling in our room the whole time, so we didn't actually use it!

We stayed in Room 3, which is located on the 2nd floor.
It was right next to the shared bathroom, which was incredibly convenient!
4. Room Condition & Comfort

The room wasn't a fancy, high-end hotel style,
but its overall warm, cozy vibe made us feel right at home!

The clothes rack was perfect for hanging up our activewear,
and the room was spacious enough to easily lay out
two 28-inch suitcases.
Plus, the Wi-Fi was super fast and reliable! 🛜

Since it's a guesthouse, quiet hours start after 11 PM! 🤫
Even though they were shared bathrooms,
there was one on each floor (1st and 2nd), so it never felt crowded at all.

This is the 2nd-floor shared bathroom right next to our room.
The hot water ran perfectly, and the water pressure was great!
It was kept sparkling clean, which I highly appreciated.

As for toiletries, they only provide shampoo,
so make sure to bring your own personal essentials!

This is the 1st-floor shared bathroom. It looks like it was recently remodeled,
as it was incredibly clean and modern!
Since our room was on the 2nd floor, we didn't end up using this one.

5. Dinner & Breakfast

Meals are served in the dining area on the 1st floor!
Breakfast was included with our 1-night stay,
and we opted to add dinner for two people.
(Dinner add-on: 1,300 Som per person, approx. $15)
Since there are hardly any restaurants nearby,
I highly recommend adding the dinner option!

Dinner
For dinner, we were served a traditional Kyrgyz meal,
complete with local bread, sweets, and fresh fruit as table starters.
The watermelon was incredibly sweet and delicious—you absolutely have to try it!!

A steaming hot bowl of chicken noodle soup with tomatoes
and a savory meat dish very similar to Korean dumplings
were served, and the flavors felt so familiar and comforting!
Definitely crowd-pleasers that anyone can enjoy!

Breakfast
For breakfast, an incredibly generous spread of
fresh fruits, pastries, ham, and cheese
was already beautifully set up and waiting for us!

Once you sit down, they whip up a hot plate of
bread, eggs, ham, and tomatoes right on the spot,
so you can start your day fully energized and satisfied!
6. Pro Tips for the Altyn-Arashan Trek

You can get a ride straight to the Altyn-Arashan trailhead
by car for just 500 Som.
Since we were spending one night up in Altyn-Arashan
and returning here for another night, the hosts kindly
stored our suitcases and kept our rental car safe for us.

There is absolutely no mobile data or internet in Altyn-Arashan,
so make sure to download Google Offline Maps in advance!
ARASHAN Guest House was
the perfect basecamp for our Altyn-Arashan trekking itinerary.
It's close to both the Ak-Suu Hot Springs and Karakol,
and being able to store our luggage and vehicle made everything so convenient!
It was hands down one of my favorite stays of the entire trip.
I highly recommend booking a stay here, and I'll wrap up today's post! 💚
