Discover what it's like to dive with sharks in Fiji! Our 2026 Aqua Trek Pacific Harbour review covers booking, prices, and staying at The Pearl Resort.

Since both my husband and I absolutely love being in the water,
we wanted to choose a lesser-known tropical paradise for our honeymoon,
and that's how we ended up choosing the stunning Fiji Islands in the South Pacific.
While snorkeling in the crystal-clear waters is amazing,
we wanted to get even closer to the marine life,
so we decided to go scuba diving.
Fiji is particularly famous for shark diving where you can see these majestic creatures up close.
So, we booked a dive shop that takes you
to one of the most renowned shark spots.
Located in Pacific Harbour, Fiji, this scuba diving shop is called
Aqua Trek. Here is my review of our coral and shark diving experience,
along with tips on booking, pricing, and where we stayed.

1. Aqua Trek Booking & Prices
The company we chose is located in Pacific Harbour and is called
Aqua Trek.
According to the travel communities I frequented while planning our trip,
this is one of the most famous dive centers in Fiji,
and they visit the exact premier spots we wanted for shark diving.

To book, simply head to their website, select "Contact Us,"
and fill in your details to start the process.
They will confirm your reservation request via email,
and once they verify your preferred options and dates,
they'll send you a secure payment link.

Once the payment is complete, you'll receive a receipt like the one above.
Just in case, I saved the PDF file to my phone before the trip.
On the day we arrived at the dive shop,
they didn't have a record of our pre-paid gear rental in their system.
Fortunately, showing them the PDF receipt
resolved everything in a second!

Aqua Trek mainly operates in two key diving areas.
Here are the schedules, prices, and details
for both the Shark and Coral dives.
Category | Shark Dive | Coral Dive |
Available Days | Mon, Wed, Thu, Sat | Tue, Thu, Sun |
Dive Fee | $180 | $145 |
Gear Rental / Day | $25 | $25 |
Others | Marine Park Fee $13 | - |
For both dives, you need to arrive at the dive shop by 8:00 AM,
and the return times differ slightly by about 30 minutes.
The Shark Dive wraps up and returns around 12:30 PM,
while the Coral Dive gets back around 1:00 PM.

2. Accommodation: The Pearl Resort

During our two days of diving, we stayed at
The Pearl Resort!
If you look at the Aqua Trek website,
they offer dive & stay packages,
and The Pearl Resort is their designated partner accommodation.
However, when we did the math, booking the package was actually more expensive.
While the package might include a higher-tier room,
our main goal was diving, so we didn't need anything ultra-luxurious.

South Pacific Fiji Pacific Harbour: The Pearl Resort Shark Diving Room & Accommodation Review
Fiji can be quite expensive, but
this 4-star resort was
around ~$256 for 2 nights, which felt super reasonable!

When looking at the location of Aqua Trek on Google Maps,
Street View wasn't really available,
so I worried: Is there actually a walkable path from The Pearl Resort to Aqua Trek?
With a "we'll figure it out when we get there" attitude, we arrived
and started exploring the resort grounds.
To our relief, Aqua Trek was located right inside the resort property!
3. Scuba Diving Review

As soon as we arrived to check in at 8:00 AM,
people started showing up one by one.
We really wanted to experience both coral diving and shark diving,
so we actually tweaked our honeymoon itinerary a bit to fit them both in.
By diving on Sunday and Monday, we could check both off our bucket list!

Once everyone arrived and got geared up in our wetsuits,
we boarded the boat heading out to the open sea.
The boat had a really secure rack to keep the scuba tanks from rolling around,
which made organizing our gear super easy when we got back on board after the dive.

Inside the boat, there was a handy shark guide
filled with info about different shark species, their appearance, and sizes.

At the front of the boat, the cooler was packed
with plenty of cookies and bottled water to boost our energy.

Hearts pounding, we were finally on our way to do some coral diving!
Our fellow divers loved chatting,
so I put my listening skills to the test
and joined in on the conversations about diving.
Hearing the stories of seasoned pros who have explored completely different waters
made me want to build up my strength and stamina so I can keep scuba diving for a very long time.

Our first booked activity was Coral Diving!
To be honest, the water wasn't quite as crystal clear as I had hoped.
But there were so, so many coral reefs
that exploring them one by one made time absolutely fly by.

Tiny schools of fish were swarming
around the rocks closest to the surface.
While the corals were stunningly colorful,
seeing those bright, multi-colored fish swim all around us
made me fall in love with the magic of scuba diving all over again.

The next day was all about Shark Diving!
I had imagined we’d just be drifting through the water
and happen to run into a shark by chance.
In reality, they lock tuna heads—a shark favorite—
inside a large green container
to lure the sharks in.

You might worry about getting bitten during a shark dive,
but the dive masters stay right behind us with long rods.
If a shark gets too close, they gently redirect its path
away from where the divers are sitting.
Meanwhile, we sat quietly behind a low rock wall
built like a little barrier, just enjoying the shark-watching.

Since we weren't moving around much,
it started to get a bit chilly after a while.
But getting to watch so many sharks right before our eyes
felt like sitting inside a giant, real-life aquarium.

Sharks and fish being drawn in by the tuna head.
The container holding the tuna head doesn't just sit in one spot—
they keep moving it around to keep things active.
And here's a video to see the sharks in even higher definition!
After watching tiny fish, seeing these massive sharks move was mesmerizing.
I found myself completely captivated,
just watching how gracefully they swim.
And even the coral reefs sitting on top of the shipwreck during our safety stop before heading back up to the boat...
It was absolutely, breathtakingly beautiful.
Watching all the cute little fish swimming over and through the coral reefs,
I seriously didn't want to ever get out of the water.

South Pacific Fiji Travel: InterContinental Breakfast Buffet & Dining Review Roundup

Shark diving operates on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. It costs $180 for a 2-tank dive, plus an additional $13 marine conservation fee. Coral diving takes place on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, and costs $145. For both dives, the daily equipment rental fee is the same at $25.
It is financially cheaper to book the diving and accommodation separately rather than using The Pearl Resort accommodation package provided on the Aqua Trek website. If diving is your main purpose and you do not need an expensive room, it is better to book your accommodation separately through a hotel booking platform.
Instead of divers swimming around freely, they sit behind a low stone wall and watch the sharks being lured by a bin filled with tuna heads. Divemasters stand by with long poles to redirect the sharks if they come too close to the people, ensuring a safe viewing experience.
For both shark diving and coral diving, you must arrive at the Aqua Trek shop by 8:00 AM to check in. After completing the activities, you will return to the shop at 12:30 PM for shark diving and at 1:00 PM for coral diving.
