Yongkang Street's Must-Visit Spots, Delicious Eats & Souvenir Recommendations

If you're looking to truly immerse yourself in the authentic Taiwanese vibe
during your Taipei trip, 'Yongkang Street' is the place to be!
It's super easy to get to, with a direct connection to Dongmen MRT Station,
and it's absolutely packed with fantastic restaurants, charming souvenir shops,
and so much more to explore.
And here's a tip: if you visit when it's drizzling a bit, like I did,
you'll feel that authentic Taiwanese atmosphere even more intensely.
Today, I'm going to share some must-visit spots so you can
make the most of your Yongkang Street adventure.
Foodie Hotspots
Here are three foodie hotspots on Yongkang Street that you absolutely have to check out:
Yongkang Beef Noodles, Tianjin Cong Zhua Bing, and Smoothie House.
If you visit Yongkang Beef Noodles during peak meal times,
be prepared for an incredibly long queue.
To minimize your wait,
try to go outside of regular lunch or dinner hours!
This beef noodle soup with its rich, savory broth is a guaranteed winner for any meal in Taiwan.
Next up for a quick and tasty bite is Tianjin Cong Zhua Bing.
This spot also had an incredibly long line!
Cong Zhua Bing is a Taiwanese-style pancake, fried to crispy perfection,
making it a universally loved snack.
Priced affordably at 30-60 New Taiwan Dollars,
I highly recommend giving it a try.
Personally, I suggest the corn or cheese fillings!
For dessert, I wholeheartedly recommend the mango shaved ice
at Smoothie House!
While there aren't many seated spots, they do have
standing tables, which adds to the fun and unique experience of enjoying your treat.
The mango shaved ice portions are quite generous, so I recommend
sharing it with a few friends!
Boutique Shops
Next, let me introduce two boutique shops on Yongkang Street
that are definitely worth a visit.
The first place I want to tell you about is Leeho.
From the outside, the shop might look small, but once you head
downstairs to the basement, you'll discover a surprisingly spacious store!
As you descend the stairs from the first floor to the basement,
you'll find a unique feature: you can sample various teas and even try
snacks like mango cakes before making a purchase.
What's more, the variety of teas is much greater than you might expect,
You can grab some souvenirs here!
Laihao was absolutely packed with so many captivating items.
T-shirts, pouches, stickers, and so much more,
I lost track of time browsing everything!
Next up, I'll introduce Mama Umbrella.
Taiwan is a country that gets a lot of rain,
so umbrellas are quite famous here.
Among them, Mama Umbrella is known for being lightweight and high-quality,
even if the price is a little bit higher.
With foldable umbrellas, long umbrellas, and various sizes,
you have a wide range of choices.
Plus, the designs are incredibly diverse,
so you can pick one that perfectly suits your personal taste.
I actually held one of the umbrellas myself,
and it was so light that I immediately wanted to buy one.
Besides umbrellas, they also have cup holders, pouches,
coin purses, stickers, postcards, and more,
so I hope you'll take some time to browse those too!
Souvenir Recommendations
Next, I'll introduce two fantastic Taiwanese snack spots in Yongkang Street,
perfect for souvenirs to take home.
First up is L'Atelier Lotus, famous for its mint-colored packaging.
L'Atelier Lotus is a renowned spot for nougat crackers.
Even though I visited at an off-peak time, the line stretched
incredibly long behind the store.
If possible, I highly recommend getting there right at opening.
L'Atelier Lotus's nougat crackers are
incredibly moist and soft, making them highly recommended
for anyone new to nougat crackers.
A box costs 220~250 TWD,
and since it's a cash-only establishment, please make sure
to bring cash when you visit.
Next up is Sunmerry, a renowned spot for pineapple cakes.
Sunmerry is located near Dongmen MRT Station, so I recommend
stopping by to make your purchases after you've explored all of Yongkang Street
and are heading elsewhere.
Pineapple cakes are a Taiwanese-style pastry with
moist pineapple jam encased in a soft cake crust,
making them a snack loved by people of all ages.
Sunmerry's pineapple cakes come individually wrapped with adorable packaging,
making them an excellent souvenir choice.
Both cash and card payments are accepted, so keep that in mind.
Yongkang Street is a place where you'll find plenty of charming little shops,
diverse dessert spots, cozy cafes,
and get to experience that unique Taiwanese vibe.
