drinking authentic milk tea and bubble tea is practically a rite of passage,
even for those who don't usually drink it back home!
To be completely honest, I am not a big boba person.
I've never really enjoyed the texture of tapioca pearls,
and I never felt like bubble tea was worth the hype
or the cash... until now! 😭
During my recent trip to Taipei,
Yi Mu Ri (一沐日) completely changed my mind. 😲
For the first time in years, I finished an entire cup by myself.
Now I finally understand why Taiwanese milk tea
is a mandatory stop on every travel itinerary!
If you are searching for the absolute best milk tea spots

Out of all the bubble tea shops I tried in Taipei,
this specific branch was my absolute number one favorite!

I visited the Yongkang branch.
Yi Mu Ri is a highly popular chain with multiple stores across Taipei.
As a tourist, the easiest locations for you to visit
during your sightseeing runs would be
this Yongkang branch, the one near Longshan Temple,
or the Zhongshan branch.

The Yongkang branch is ideally located
right in the heart of the vibrant Yongkang Street area.
It is just a 1-minute walk (about 360 feet) from the Michelin-rated #YongkangBeefNoodles,
making it the perfect place to grab a refreshing dessert drink right after a savory bowl of noodles.
2. Menu, Flavors, and Customization

There are no paper menus here;
instead, the complete menu is mounted on the left wall next to the register.
It features English, Japanese, and Korean translations,
and every item is numbered.
You can easily order just by pointing or saying the number to the cashier! 🍀
This makes the ordering process incredibly stress-free for international travelers!
As you can see, the menu is extensive.
The best part is that almost every drink
allows you to customize the sweetness and ice levels.
You can even swap regular dairy for oat milk!
They also offer decaf tea options,
so you can craft your perfect cup exactly how you like it.
Yi Mu Ri Milk Tea and Bubble Tea
We ordered two signature drinks:
the Alishan Oolong Milk Tea and the Mugwort Boba Milk Tea!
The Alishan Oolong Milk Tea
delivers a beautiful, floral oolong aroma from the very first sip,
without that heavy, cloying aftertaste typical of many milk teas.
It was incredibly refreshing on a hot afternoon,
and I think even those who usually dislike milk tea would love this clean flavor.
The Mugwort Boba Milk Tea
features a rich, earthy mugwort flavor that is beautifully balanced.
It has a nutty depth that keeps you coming back for more without feeling heavy.
The texture of the boba pearls was the real highlight here.
While Xing Fu Tang offers a softer, stickier, brown-sugar-soaked pearl,
Yi Mu Ri's pearls are firm, dense, and bouncy—resembling the satisfying chew of fresh mochi.
3. A Cool Waiting Area
If you are visiting Taipei after April,
temperatures easily climb past 86°F. It gets hot!
When I visited, it was a sweltering 95°F with high humidity.
Even though Yi Mu Ri is a takeout-only shop,
they have a dedicated indoor waiting area
where you can wait for your order in glorious, ice-cold air conditioning!

compared to other street-side stands. It's a lifesaver!
4. Perfect Neighborhood Itinerary

My highly recommended route: Eat a hearty bowl of beef noodles,
grab a refreshing cup of Yi Mu Ri milk tea,
and enjoy a leisurely walk over to Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall!

Just a 1-minute walk (110m) away is Yongkang Beef Noodle, a Michelin-selected restaurant. We recommend having beef noodles for your meal, then getting a takeout drink from Yi Mu Yi to enjoy while walking to Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall.
There is a menu on the store wall with Korean and Japanese translations. Every menu item is matched with a number, so you can easily order by simply telling the staff the corresponding number.
While Xing Fu Tang's pearls feel soft and gooey, Yi Mu Yi's pearls have a firm, dense, and chewy texture similar to mochi. You can also customize your drink by adjusting the sweetness and ice levels, or changing the milk to oat milk.
