King Sejong's Tomb Yeoju 2026: Visiting Hours & Fees
Planning a historical day trip from Seoul? Discover King Sejong's Tomb (Sejongdaewangneung) in Yeoju for an enriching cultural experience amidst beautiful autumn scenery.

With the Hangeul Day holiday upon us this October 9th, 2026, or if you're just planning a lovely autumn weekend getaway,
what adventures do you have in mind?
If you're like us, staying home feels like a missed opportunity, but the thought of battling heavy traffic for a distant escape can be daunting.
Good news! We've found the perfect spot for an easy day trip, scenic drive, and refreshing walk from Seoul or Gyeonggi-do:
Yeoju Sejongdaewangneung (King Sejong's Tomb)!

Just last week, my family and I embarked on a wonderful trip to Yeoju Sejongdaewangneung. The crisp autumn breeze made it ideal for a leisurely drive and a refreshing outing.
We were pleased to find the parking lot incredibly spacious and well-maintained, making our arrival stress-free.
1. The King Sejong History & Culture Center

After parking around 4:25 PM, our first stop was the King Sejong History & Culture Center, conveniently located near the entrance.

If you're visiting Yeoju Sejongdaewangneung, we highly recommend exploring the History & Culture Center before heading to the royal tomb itself. It truly enhances the entire experience!

The History & Culture Center is thoughtfully organized into three main themes:
▲ King Sejong, the Holy Ruler of the Nation
▲ Joseon Royal Tombs: A World Heritage Site
▲ King Hyojong, the Spirit of Northern Conquest

It was incredibly informative, allowing our children to engage with the magnificent achievements of King Sejong, the creation of Hangeul (the Korean alphabet), and the historical significance of the Joseon Royal Tombs, all presented in an accessible, kid-friendly way.

A quick tip: the King Sejong History & Culture Center's operating hours change seasonally, so be sure to double-check before you visit!
King Sejong History & Culture Center Operating Hours
✔️ September - October: 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM
✔️ November - February: 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM
2. King Sejong's Tomb (Sejongdaewangneung)

After our enriching visit to the History & Culture Center, we made our way to King Sejong's Tomb itself.
Be aware: King Sejong's Tomb closes promptly at 6:00 PM, with the last admission at 5:00 PM. Plan your visit accordingly!

We managed to enter just before 5:00 PM, so we hurried our steps to see the Jae-sil (caretaker's residence) and King Sejong's Tomb. If we had more time, we would have loved to also explore Hyojong's Tomb (Yeongneung), which is nearby. That's a slight regret!
For future visitors, we highly recommend setting aside at least two hours to fully appreciate both tombs and the surrounding area.

The entrance fee for adults (ages 25-64) is 500 KRW, which converts to approximately ~$0. Children under 24 and seniors over 65, as well as pregnant women, people with disabilities, parents with multiple children cards, and those wearing military uniforms or traditional Hanbok, can enjoy free admission.

The path leading to King Sejong's Tomb in Yeoju is beautifully flat and gentle, making it perfect for families with young children or those pushing strollers. Everyone seemed to enjoy a comfortable stroll without any difficulty.

The most impressive part of our visit was the Doreasol-gil path.
Having visited other royal tombs like Yungneung where we could only admire from a distance, I wasn't expecting to get so close to the actual burial mound here.

However, thanks to the specially designed 'Doreasol-gil' walking trail, we were able to approach King Sejong's Tomb closely for an intimate viewing.
For our elementary school-aged children, King Sejong is a familiar and revered figure from their history books and classes. To stand before his tomb, to truly see and feel the presence of such a monumental historical figure, was a deeply memorable and special educational experience for them.
3. Hangeul Day Cultural Events 2026

For those visiting on October 9th and 10th, 2026, you're in for an extra treat! Meaningful Hangeul Day cultural events are taking place around King Sejong's Tomb. This is a fantastic opportunity to immerse yourself in even richer sights and activities during the Hangeul Day holiday weekend.

This Hangeul Day holiday or any beautiful autumn day, why not plan your own journey to Yeoju Sejongdaewangneung?
It's a fantastic opportunity to share the significance of Hangeul and the spirit of Korean history with your children, all while enjoying a refreshing autumn walk.
We wholeheartedly recommend it as a perfect family day trip this fall!
