Namae1-ri Beach is nestled near Namae Port, one of Yangyang's most prominent harbors.
In a previous post, I highlighted the beautiful Jigyung-ri Beach. If you missed it, check it out here:

My family and I stumbled upon Namae1-ri Beach while searching for a kid-friendly lunch spot. It's just a short drive of a few minutes from the crystal-clear waters of Jigyung-ri Beach.
You'll notice more surfers here, thanks to popular spots like Pogun restaurant and the laid-back Geobuk-i Surf Bar. It's got a really cool, chill vibe.
On our way to lunch, we passed this amazing bar right on the beach and immediately thought, "We HAVE to come back here after we eat!"
Compared to other popular summer beaches, Namae1-ri felt incredibly peaceful and uncrowded, even during peak season.
This photo is from mid-August 2025. As you can see, even during the busy summer, the beach remained wonderfully serene.
For our family lunch, we headed to Pogun, a fantastic Vietnamese noodle restaurant right in front of Namae1-ri Beach.

This Vietnamese spot is incredibly popular, and for good reason!
The dining area was bustling with customers during lunchtime.
We ordered classic Beef Pho and delicious Fried Rice.
My personal favorite was the
Spicy Tripe Pho – it had such a kick!
Pogun Spicy Tripe Pho
The Spicy Tripe Pho is a fantastic choice for adults looking for something bold.
Pogun Bun Cha
And for the kids, Bun Cha was a perfect, lighter option.
All the dishes for our family of four arrived together.
The portions were generous, and every dish was absolutely delicious. After our satisfying meal, we headed straight to the Geobuk-i Surf Bar we'd spotted earlier.

Geobuk-i Surf Bar
You'll find Geobuk-i Surf Bar near the large Turtle Rock on Namae1-ri Beach. There's no dedicated parking lot, so you can park in the public space behind the bar or along the beachside road, making sure not to block traffic.
This surf bar perfectly captures that coastal vibe. They offer beers, soft drinks, and even milkshakes, making it a great spot for families with kids.
Their menu features tempting snacks and light meals like Seafood Rosé Chicken Tteokbokki, Sweet Potato Milkshake, Truffle Fries, and Coconut Shrimp. We had just eaten lunch, so we couldn't order much, but I'm planning to revisit this August 2026 to try more of their delicious offerings and share an updated review!
This place is also quite popular, with plenty of visitors enjoying the atmosphere.
My kids, who can't sit still for long, loved the freedom of the beach.
A refreshing Coconut Milkshake was perfect for the little ones.
While the milkshake was great, nothing quite beats a beer with an ocean view!
Since I don't drink, this photo of my wife's beer will have to do!
We explored both Jigyung-ri Beach and Namae1-ri Beach on the East Coast of Gangwon Province.
Compared to other beaches, the water here is exceptionally clean, and it's generally not overly crowded.
While it might be a bit of a journey, the pristine beauty and tranquility make it absolutely worth the trip for a memorable summer vacation.
I have such fond memories from my visit in 2025 that I'm planning to return this August 2026!
