During my recent trip to Sydney, I had to stop by for a spot of lunch at the legendary
XOPP by Golden Century!
After the iconic Chinatown institution Golden Century closed its doors, the family legacy found a stunning new home in Darling Square. Known for serving some of the finest Cantonese food in the city, this modern successor is a must-visit for foodies.
If you are planning a day of exploring, it's incredibly convenient. It is located just a short walk from Pitt Street, which happens to be the drop-off point for the highly-rated Port Stephens, Blue Mountains & Featherdale Wildlife Park Combo Tour. It is the perfect spot to reward yourself with an incredible feast after a full day of sightseeing!

XOPP - Sydney Dining Experience
The Darling Harbour area is absolutely stunning, both day and night.

You will find XOPP on the mezzanine level of The Exchange, the striking, nest-like wooden building in Darling Square. (Level M, Shop 31/1 Little Pier St, Haymarket NSW 2000, Australia)
Hours: Daily 12:00 PM – 10:00 PM
Break Time: 5:00 PM – 5:30 PM
Yum Cha Hours: 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM daily

The interior is sleek, modern, and spacious, featuring a variety of seating options and a gorgeous bar. It is ideal for everything from solo dining to large group gatherings.

Their drinks menu is highly impressive, boasting an extensive wine list, beers, Chinese spirits, and creative cocktails. (The Lychee Mojito is highly recommended!)
XOPP by Golden Century Yum Cha Menu
Yum Cha Hours: 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM
While Yum Cha is a lunchtime affair, you can still order from the main à la carte menu during lunch. I saw neighboring tables feasting on live lobster and massive steamed fish dishes!

The menu offers an incredible selection of dim sum, staying true to traditional Hong Kong and Cantonese flavors.
Here is what we ordered for two people:
Prawn Har Gow $16
Plain Pork Siu Mai $14
Steamed Spare Ribs w/Black Bean Sauce $12
Sweet Custard Lava Buns $11
Salted Egg Yolk Potato Wedges $14
Spring Beans w/Minced Pork $16
And to drink: Tsingtao Beer $10, Lychee Mojito $26, and Jasmine-Green Tea $4.50 (per person)
Lychee Mojito $26

The Lychee Mojito exceeded my expectations. Not only did it look beautiful, but it was perfectly balanced—not overly sweet, with just the right kick to kickstart lunch.
Prawn Har Gow $16
Plain Pork Siu Mai $14
Sweet Custard Lava Buns $11
The dim sum is served with three dipping sauces. The chili sauce was exceptional, cutting through the richness perfectly.

I usually keep my expectations modest for dim sum outside of Hong Kong, but XOPP is the real deal!
Both the Har Gow and Siu Mai were incredibly plump, wrapped in perfectly chewy skins, and bursting with fresh, juicy fillings.
And you absolutely cannot skip the Sweet Custard Lava Buns. The rich, salted duck egg yolk custard literally melts in your mouth. Even though we were stuffed, we seriously debated ordering a second batch to go.
Steamed Spare Ribs w/Black Bean Sauce $12
Salted Egg Yolk Potato Wedges $14
Spring Beans w/Minced Pork $16
The savory green beans with minced pork, the uniquely addictive salted egg yolk potato wedges, and the tender spare ribs were packed with deep umami flavors. I honestly can't recommend one over the other—they were all phenomenal.

Everything arrived piping hot, fresh out of the steamers and off the wok.
It is easy to see why so many locals and Cantonese food purists pack this place out. XOPP officially ranks as one of my favorite Chinese dining spots in Sydney.
The Verdict!
* Extensive menu with exceptional drink pairings
* Professional, friendly service in a stunning modern setting
* Great value during Yum Cha hours (12 PM - 5 PM)
* Rating: *Highly Recommended / Must-Visit*

The Yum Cha menu at XOPP is only available during lunchtime, from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM daily. During the Yum Cha hours, you can enjoy the same dishes at a lower price, and you can also order from the regular menu.
The restaurant is located on the 2nd floor of Darling Square in Haymarket, Sydney. It is open daily from 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM, with a break time from 5:00 PM to 5:30 PM.
Shrimp Hargow is $16, Pork Shumai is $14, and Sweet Custard Lava Buns are $11. For drinks, you can order a Lychee Mojito for $26 and Jasmine Green Tea for $4.50 per person.
This is because Pitt Street, the drop-off point for the tour, is not far from Darling Square, where the restaurant is located. It provides a very convenient route to head straight for dinner after finishing the tour.
