I love Thai food so much, I'd even travel to Thailand just to eat!
But during my recent trip to Australia, I stumbled upon a Thai food gem that tasted even better than the real deal!
Let me introduce you to **Chon Siam, a must-visit in Sydney, Australia**!

**Chon Siam** was actually right near our accommodation,
a place we stumbled upon by chance.
Its proximity to **Chinatown and Paddy's Market**
meant **access was incredibly convenient**.
There are plenty of other Thai eateries in this vibrant area,
so feel free to explore!
Chon Siam offers seating on both its first and second floors.
With a good number of tables, you likely won't have to wait long,
if at all.
We dropped by for an early dinner around 4 PM.
As we enjoyed our meal, we noticed many Thai locals started filling the place up.
It really dawned on us that this place must already be
a popular go-to spot among the Thai community in Sydney!
You can even experience an **outdoor dining vibe right by the 1st-floor entrance**.
We chose to sit outside to take in the beautiful Sydney city
views,
and it was incredibly relaxing, a true moment of healing.

We were looking for a hearty dinner,
so we ordered one rice dish and one noodle dish – the perfect combo!
Considering a basic meal for two in Australia typically runs about ~$21-28,
these prices were incredibly affordable!
It felt even more budget-friendly than some Thai restaurants back home,
making it fantastic value for money.
I'll delve into the details below, but trust me, this combination is a must-try!
In Australia, tap water is generally
provided free of charge.
While it might have a slight tap water taste initially, you'll quickly get used to it,
and it's perfectly fine!
The food took about 10 minutes to arrive,
and I was pleasantly surprised by how quickly it came out!
The portions were incredibly generous per dish, exceeding my expectations,
and the presentation was absolutely stunning – I knew I'd made an excellent choice!
Kana Moo Crob 카나무크롭
Kana Moo Crob is a dish featuring
fried pork stir-fried with vibrant vegetables.
'Moo Crob' literally means fried pork,
and you can truly savor that perfect crispy-on-the-outside, juicy-on-the-inside texture.
Since it's stir-fried in a soy sauce and oyster-like sauce,
it was an absolute 'rice thief' – so delicious you'll keep wanting more rice!
And with a subtle hint of chili added,
it wasn't greasy at all, making it incredibly moreish.
The pork rind section was wonderfully chewy,
giving it a fantastic texture.
There were also more vegetables than I anticipated,
making it a dish with a perfect harmony of rice, meat, and veggies.
Soft Shell Crab noodle 소프트쉘크랩 팟타이
The Soft Shell Crab Noodle was a Pad Thai topped with
tender, seasoned soft-shell crab.
The portion was quite generous, easily enough for 1.5 servings!
The characteristic sweet sauce of Pad Thai
and the chewy noodles made it delightfully slurpable.
The soft-shell crab was incredibly tender.
Since it came coated in a sweet and savory sauce,
it paired perfectly with the crab's rich flavor.
If you're a crab enthusiast, this flavor will absolutely delight you!
When you enjoy it with the peanuts served alongside,
the nutty richness is truly amplified!
Chon Siam Thai Restaurant, a must-visit spot in Sydney, Australia,
was a local Thai favorite that we happily stumbled upon.
Considering the cost of living in Australia, it offers excellent value for money,
making it a spot I'd love to revisit on my next Sydney adventure.
