Taiwan Travel: Xing Fu Tang Ximending Bubble Tea Review

A trip to Taiwan isn't complete without at least one bubble tea a day!
It's been a while since my last Taiwan trip, and I noticed some of the popular bubble tea spots have shifted. So, I decided to check out Xing Fu Tang in Ximending and share my experience.
Xing Fu Tang Location & Operating Hours
📍 Xing Fu Tang
No. 101號, Hanzhong St, Ximen Village, Wanhua District, Taipei City, Taiwan 108
Location: No. 101號, Hanzhong St, Ximen Village, Wanhua District, Taipei City, Taiwan 108
You'll find it just a short 3-minute walk from Ximen Station, Exit 6.
Operating Hours
8:30 AM ~ 12:30 AM
With hours stretching from early morning until past midnight, it's super convenient for satisfying those bubble tea cravings anytime!

My hotel was right in Ximending, so I passed Xing Fu Tang daily. While there was occasionally a line, it always moved pretty fast, so don't be deterred!
Just head to the right side where the staff are taking orders.
Xing Fu Tang Menu

You'll want to order Xing Fu Tang's signature Brown Sugar Boba Milk. It's 120 TWD, which is about ~$4. It feels a bit pricey for a bubble tea, but trust me, it's worth a try!
One surprising thing is that they actually sell Xiaolongbao (soup dumplings) at a bubble tea shop! Talk about an unexpected combo, right?
They even have a limited-time set that includes the Brown Sugar Milk Tea and Xiaolongbao for 200 TWD, or about ~$6.
I was a little skeptical about the Brown Sugar Milk Tea and Xiaolongbao combo, but hey, when in Taiwan, right?

You can also get these items separately.
While the price for the regular Xiaolongbao is quite reasonable, the 'Brown Sugar Boba Xiaolongbao' definitely raised an eyebrow! I mean, sweet boba in a savory dumpling? That's a flavor adventure I wasn't quite ready for, haha.

Xing Fu Tang proudly declares its opposition to artificial tapioca pearls, showcasing their commitment by letting you watch the fresh pearls being made right before your eyes. It's a nice touch that certainly inspires confidence!

Watching the brown sugar boba slowly simmer to perfection is mesmerizing! It reminds me of the brown sugar bubble tea craze that swept through many places a few years back. It’s still going strong here in Taiwan!
Inside Atmosphere

With an open kitchen concept, you can peek at the meticulous process of making both the Xiaolongbao and the milk tea.

They even use a 'dinosaur torch' (that's what I'm calling it!) to caramelize the sugar on top, adding that perfect finishing touch.
Since my hotel was in Ximending, I popped in first thing in the morning and was able to get my bubble tea without any wait – a definite win!
How Does Xing Fu Tang Taste?

While the visual appeal is definitely there, the price point of around ~$4 felt a tad steep for a single drink, which was a minor letdown.
My first sip was a burst of flavor, and the handmade pearls were wonderfully chewy and delicious. However, as I kept drinking, a subtle richness started to build, almost a greasy feeling that wasn't quite my cup of tea (or bubble tea, in this case!). It felt like a flavor that would definitely split opinions, and since I'm not a huge fan of overly rich or greasy tastes, it leaned a bit too much in that direction for me.
So, if you ask if I'd grab another Xing Fu Tang on my next Taiwan trip? Honestly, I'd probably say I'm content with having experienced it once. It's a popular spot, and I'm glad I tried it, but there are so many other amazing bubble tea shops to explore!
Xing Fu Tang Ximending is located approximately a 3-minute walk from Ximen Station Exit 6. It operates from 8:30 AM to 12:30 AM, making it accessible from early morning until late at night.
The signature Brown Sugar Boba Milk at Xing Fu Tang Ximending is 120 TWD (~$4). A limited set menu, which includes Brown Sugar Milk Tea and Xiaolongbao, is available for 200 TWD (~$6).
Xing Fu Tang opposes artificial tapioca pearls and makes its own tapioca fresh. You can even watch the tapioca-making process inside the store. While there can sometimes be a wait, it usually moves quickly. If you visit in the morning, you can often get your bubble tea without any wait.
