Goseong in Gangwon State is quickly emerging as a must-visit coastal travel destination.
Usually, travelers bundle it with a trip to Sokcho or Gangneung. Since Goseong is just a quick 15-minute drive from Sokcho, it's incredibly easy to add to your Korean east coast itinerary.
During my recent trip, I discovered a fantastic 5-star hotel that I just have to recommend. It’s a 5-minute walk from Bongpo Beach, boasts an incredible location, and features an indoor heated pool, a rooftop infinity pool, and a top-tier fitness center.
📍 Wyndham Gangwon Goseong
13 Bongpo 4-gil, Toseong-myeon, Goseong-gun, Gangwon State

Initially, I was looking for an ocean-view hotel right in Sokcho because of the easy access to tourist spots and local eateries. However, weekend rates were more than triple the weekday prices! Plus, I really wanted a quiet, relaxing getaway, which the bustling center of Sokcho couldn't offer.

That's when I found this gem. I loved that it was close enough to Bongpo Beach for a peaceful morning stroll, yet still surrounded by great local restaurants and cafes. The location is truly the best of both worlds.

While I've visited Sokcho many times, it had been a while since my last trip to Goseong. Reading through reviews, many guests praised the spacious parking lot. Since we were on a 5-day, 4-night trip, we had a lot of luggage. Having a dedicated, easy-to-navigate parking garage right in the building was a huge relief.
The walk from the parking area to the guest rooms after check-in is remarkably short, making it highly convenient if you're traveling with elderly parents or young kids.

Check-in 3:00 PM / Check-out 11:00 AM
The lobby of the Wyndham Goseong is located on the 1st floor.
This is where you'll handle check-in. Right next to the reception is Bonaterra, a premium chocolate shop that's definitely worth a peek.

The hotel is divided into Building A and Building B. Check-in takes place in Building A. I was assigned a room in Building B. The staff processed everything quickly, so we were able to head up to our room right away.

It's worth noting that Wyndham Goseong is a 5-star property directly managed by the global luxury brand Wyndham. I originally booked for just one night, but the experience was so great I decided to extend my stay on the spot. When I asked the front desk during my initial check-out, they seamlessly handled the extension. The staff's hospitality was top-notch.
✔️ Pro Tip: If you plan to extend your stay like I did, let the front desk know as early as possible!

Since it's a relatively new hotel, I read plenty of reviews beforehand. The photos looked pristine, but it's always hard to gauge the actual room size. Fortunately, the room was surprisingly spacious.

Right by the entrance on the left, you'll find the closet and shoe area. What really caught my eye was the dedicated luggage space in the entryway. It was wide enough to fully open two large suitcases without blocking the path.

Next to the bed, there's a comfortable sofa and a dining table, providing plenty of room to relax and set down your things. The overall layout felt very breathable and comfortable.

Another huge plus for me was the hardwood flooring. While carpets might dampen footsteps, they often fall short in terms of hygiene. The clean, modern hardwood floors at Wyndham Goseong made the entire space feel much more sanitary.

If you travel often, you know that bed quality can make or break a trip. True to its 5-star status, the mattress and bedding here were exceptional. I slept through the night without waking up once.

I stayed in a standard room, but here's the best part: all rooms at Wyndham Goseong feature ocean views. The pristine condition of the linens and that unmistakable "new hotel" freshness made the stay incredibly pleasant.

The bathroom was spacious and spotless. However, if you're planning to use the infinity pool, they have excellent locker and shower facilities up there, which I highly recommend using!

The room comes with a smart TV (perfect for streaming your favorite shows) and two complimentary bottles of water. By the bed, there's a smart lighting sensor and a wireless charging pad that can handle your phone and AirPods simultaneously—a lifesaver since I forgot to pack my charger!

Hours: 9:00 AM ~ 6:00 PM
Adults ~$30 / Children ~$15
(Hotel guests receive a 20-30% discount)
Right after checking in, we headed straight to the infinity pool on the 28th floor of Building A. Just give your room number at the desk, and they'll hand you towels, an entry wristband, and a locker key. You must wear the wristband to enter.

You can easily change into your swimsuit in the locker rooms right before entering the pool area.

The shower facilities are conveniently located on the same floor, so you can swim and rinse off before heading back down to your room.

Since the infinity pool closes at 6:00 PM, it's best to go right after check-in or the following morning after breakfast. We checked in past 4:00 PM, so we had to hurry up to get our swim in!

We managed to enjoy the pool before it got too late. Being right on the Gangwon coast, the ocean breeze was pretty fierce. Thankfully, the pool is heated, so we stayed perfectly warm despite the strong winds.

On the day we visited, the water temperature was around 91°F, making it incredibly cozy. We loved it so much that we went back for a morning swim before checking out the next day.

The unobstructed, panoramic ocean views make this an amazing spot for photos.

On the way to the infinity pool (Building B, 28th floor), you'll pass by the LNB Lounge. We ordered three mocktails and ended up staying much longer than planned because the vibe was so relaxing.

We weren't in the mood for alcohol, so the zero-proof cocktails were the perfect choice. They were delicious and refreshing—definitely something the whole family can enjoy together!

Guests have free access to the fitness center on the 4th floor of Building B. Being managed by a global luxury brand, the gym felt noticeably larger and better equipped than standard hotel gyms.

I like to keep up with my workouts while traveling, so I was eager to test out the equipment.

It's a great setup whether you want to squeeze in a morning workout before breakfast or burn off some calories after dinner. The three of us even ended up doing some yoga, which we rarely do at home!

Breakfast Hours: 7:00 AM ~ 10:00 AM
I know many travelers consider breakfast a dealbreaker when booking a hotel. I'm the same way and always read breakfast reviews meticulously.

To cut to the chase: it was phenomenal. We had a long drive home planned right after check-out, and the breakfast was so hearty and filling that we didn't even need to stop for lunch.

I loved the extensive Korean food selection. From cockle bibimbap to bulgogi, chicken, and smoked duck salad, the local flavors were spot on. They also had a great balance of international options like Vietnamese pho and dim sum, catering to every palate.

The buffet gets busiest between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM. If you go too late, some popular items might run out and get swapped for different dishes. If you want a relaxed meal with the full selection, I highly recommend going right when it opens.
I initially booked this place just because it was a newly opened hotel, but it completely exceeded my expectations. From the morning walks on Bongpo Beach to the heated infinity pool, the fantastic breakfast, the LNB Lounge, and the fitness center—every detail was perfect.
The main goal of this trip was pure relaxation, and choosing Wyndham Goseong was the best decision. The 5-minute walk to the beach, the warm pool, the hearty breakfast, and those lounge mocktails made it unforgettable.
If you're planning a coastal getaway to Gangwon State this summer, I cannot recommend the Wyndham Goseong Hotel enough! :)
I hope this review helps you plan your next trip.
Safe travels! ✋🏻
