When planning a trip to Singapore,
Universal Studios is an absolute must-visit destination.
While you obviously need an admission ticket,
you might be wondering if splurging on an Express Pass is really necessary.
If you're on the fence, keep reading!
I'm breaking down everything you need to know about USS,
from ticket prices to the best rides you can't miss.

Universal Studios Singapore (USS) features
7 unique themed zones, including Jurassic Park,
Ancient Egypt, Far Far Away (Shrek), and Hollywood.

There are currently five Universal Studios locations globally:
USA (California, Orlando), Japan (Osaka),
China (Beijing), and Singapore.
Compared to the others, Singapore's park is smaller,
which is actually a huge advantage because you can explore it at a relaxed pace.
I visited expecting the massive scale of Universal Studios Japan,
but its compact size made it much easier to navigate in a single day!

Whether you're traveling with kids, friends,
or your significant partner,
it's a guaranteed fun day out and a true Singapore staple.

USS is located on Sentosa Island.
My friends and I took a taxi from our hotel on Orchard Road,
which cost around 16 SGD (~$12 USD).
You can also reach the island via the Singapore Cable Car.
Riding the cable car feels like an attraction itself,
so if you're traveling with family,
I highly recommend taking this scenic route!

It is highly recommended to buy your
Universal Studios Singapore tickets online in advance!

Currently, Trip.com offers the best deal!
You actually pay less for a bundle that includes the Admission Ticket + a $5 SGD Meal Voucher
+ a $5 SGD Retail Voucher than you would for just the ticket alone. Talk about a steal!
Even after applying discount coupons across different platforms,
Trip.com still came out as the cheapest option!

The Express Pass allows you to skip the regular lines for rides.
It is an add-on option that must be purchased separately from your admission ticket.

To get straight to the point:
If you're visiting on a weekday, you probably don't need it!
When I went,
the wait time for most attractions was under 30 minutes.
Sometimes I literally walked right on within 1 to 5 minutes.
If you arrive right at opening (rope drop),
you can easily knock out popular rides like Transformers and the Mummy.

However, I highly recommend the Express Pass
if any of the following apply to you:
✔️ Visiting on a weekend or public holiday (peak season)
✔️ You want to ride as much as possible in a short amount of time
✔️ You struggle with standing in extreme heat
Singapore's weather is notoriously hot and humid (often pushing 90°F).
Waiting in line will have you sweating within 5 minutes,
which drains your energy incredibly fast. Honestly, the heat alone
makes the Express Pass very tempting.

① Transformers The Ride: The Ultimate 3D Battle
This is arguably the most popular attraction at USS.
The 3D visuals are so incredibly immersive,
you genuinely feel like you've stepped into the movie!

② Battlestar Galactica: HUMAN vs. CYLON
A thrilling dual roller coaster that races side-by-side.
Human is a traditional seated coaster, while Cylon is suspended.
If you love adrenaline, Cylon is definitely the more intense option.

③ Revenge of the Mummy
Located in the Ancient Egypt zone,
this high-speed indoor roller coaster is packed with thrills in the dark!

④ Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure
A river raft ride that sends you plunging down white-water rapids.
You will absolutely get wet, so bringing a poncho is a smart move!

⑤ Shrek 4-D Adventure
A fantastic 4D cinematic experience.
Perfect for families with young children or anyone who isn't a fan of intense roller coasters.

To easily check ride locations and current wait times,
make sure to download the "Universal SG" app!
The most efficient way to tackle the park is to start at the entrance
and work your way around in a counter-clockwise direction.
(Transformers → Human & Cylon → Mummy
→ Jurassic Park → Shrek → Minions)

Universal Studios Singapore operating hours are generally
10:00 AM ~ 8:00 PM.
However, they occasionally close at 7:00 PM,
so always double-check the official website or app before your visit!

Currently, you can purchase them at Trip.com for the lowest price, around ~$57. The 'Admission Ticket + SGD5 Meal + SGD5 Shopping Voucher' package is cheaper than the 'Admission Ticket Only' option, so this is the recommended choice. This promotion runs until June 30, 2026.
For weekday visits, you don't necessarily need to buy an Express Pass. Most attraction wait times were under 30 minutes, and if you enter right at opening, popular attractions like Transformers or The Mummy can be ridden quickly.
Taking a taxi from Orchard Road to Sentosa Island cost approximately 16 Singapore dollars. For families, taking the cable car is also a popular option to get a feel for the amusement park atmosphere in advance.
Universal Studios Singapore typically operates from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, but it sometimes closes at 7:00 PM, so it's best to check the official website or app before your visit. The most efficient route is to go counter-clockwise from the entrance, with Transformers, Human & Cylon, The Mummy, Jurassic Park, and Shrek recommended in that order.
