Indonesia Shopping
It's pretty rare for me to go overboard with souvenirs when I travel. But during my recent trip to Indonesia, I found myself exploring all the major shopping spots in Bali, especially in Ubud. So, I figured it was the perfect time to share my ultimate Bali shopping list with you!
When you're in Bali, particularly Ubud, there are a few must-have items that consistently make the top of everyone's shopping list. Here’s what I found worth checking out for gifts and souvenirs:
1. KOU Cuisine (Jams & Soaps)
2. BALI TEAKY (Teak Wood Tableware)
3. Bluestone (Essential Oils & Aromatherapy)
4. Luwak Coffee
5. Ellips Hair Oil
Let's dive into each one to see what makes them so special.

First up, we have KOU. The shop itself is incredibly charming and beautifully decorated, making it a joy to browse. Now, here's a little tip: there are actually two KOU locations very close to each other – KOU and KOU Cuisine. KOU focuses more on lovely handmade soaps with a selection of delicious jams, while KOU Cuisine puts jams center stage, offering soaps as a delightful complement. You can't go wrong with either!
First, KOU.

Inside, you'll find testers so you can experience the wonderful scents firsthand. They offer full-sized soaps and adorable, candy-wrapped mini soaps perfect for travel. These little gems are great to pick up and use right away during your Bali adventure!
For personal use, they even sell slightly cheaper "scrap" soaps – a fantastic way to enjoy their quality products without breaking the bank.
On the other side of the shop, you'll discover their exquisite jams. I didn't buy any myself at the time because I still had more travel ahead and was worried about spoilage. However, a friend who returned home earlier bought some as Bali souvenirs, and the feedback was incredible – they absolutely loved them and kept asking where they could get more! You can also sample the jams before you buy.

If you're looking for beautifully packaged Bali gifts, this is definitely the place to find them.

This is KOU CUISINE.
While similar to KOU, this location places a greater emphasis on their jams. Since they're practically next door to each other, you can visit whichever one catches your eye first!

Next on our Bali shopping adventure is BALI TEAKY, renowned for its beautiful teak wood kitchenware.

These gorgeous wooden bowls and utensils are perfect if you want to bring a piece of that Indonesian travel vibe into your kitchen back home. Even if you're not planning a full Balinese feast, simply using these warm, rustic wooden pieces can instantly uplift your mood and dining experience.

Moving on to Bluestone, a shop specializing in essential oils and aromatherapy products. While they offer a lovely range, I personally didn't find myself needing any oils at the time, nor did I think my friends would have much use for them as Bali gifts. So, I decided to pass on this one.
Of course, no trip to Indonesia is complete without mentioning Luwak coffee. It's incredibly famous here, and you'll find it readily available as a Bali travel souvenir. I tried several places, hoping to find "the one" that surpassed my previous best Luwak coffee experience. Unfortunately, none quite hit that mark for me, so I ended up passing. I'm a big coffee lover, and I really wanted to bring some home if it was exceptional! Looking back, perhaps my standards were a bit too high, as there were certainly some decent options. Oh well, live and learn! If you're keen to try, I'll share a famous cafe in Ubud: you can enjoy a cup there or purchase beans to take home from this well-known cafe in Ubud.
Last but not least on our Bali shopping list is Ellips Hair Oil, a popular local beauty find. You can easily pick this up at various drugstores as you explore.

You'll often find them stacked high!
However, I discovered a place where it's significantly cheaper:
📍 Bali & Dream: Jl. Karna No.18-14, Ubud, Kecamatan Ubud, Kabupaten Gianyar, Bali 80571 Indonesia
Jl. Karna No.18-14, Ubud, Kecamatan Ubud, Kabupaten Gianyar, Bali 80571 Indonesia

This place is called Bali & Dream, and the price difference is quite noticeable, so I highly recommend buying your Ellips Hair Oil here if you want to save a few bucks!

Each color of Ellips Hair Oil serves a different purpose, targeting various hair concerns, and they're also available in convenient single-use capsules.

Oh, and one last tip: Coco Mart is often mentioned as a famous spot for Bali travel shopping. However, when I visited, I honestly didn't find much that stood out. My personal recommendation is to decide what specific items you're looking for and then head directly to the dedicated shops that sell them, rather than expecting a wide variety of unique souvenirs at a general supermarket.

So there you have it – my curated Bali shopping list for gifts and souvenirs you can find in Ubud. While there are undoubtedly many other treasures to discover, choosing from this list alone will ensure you bring home some fantastic memories and mementos from your Indonesian adventure!
