Daegu to Taipei Flight Prices & Tips
T'way Air TW661 & TW664 Review
I recently took a trip from Daegu to Taipei, Taiwan!
With global events causing fuel surcharges to skyrocket,
airfare has generally become much more expensive.
However, Taipei remains one of the few incredibly affordable destinations..♥️
It boasts fantastic weather for walking around,
and is packed with delicious street food and vibrant attractions.
It's honestly a perfect getaway no matter who you're traveling with.
Today, I'm going to share everything from how to compare
T'way Air ticket prices for the Daegu-Taipei route
to a detailed review of the flight experience itself.
Booking Daegu to Taipei Flights
I booked my Daegu to Taipei tickets via Trip.com.
I checked the prices across different dates
and locked in a relatively cheap option.
Direct flights from Daegu to Taiwan
are operated daily by T'way Air.
The flight time is only about 2.5 hours,
and Taoyuan Airport is well-connected to the city center,
making it an easy, low-stress trip.

I managed to buy my round-trip tickets for about ~$154
just before another fuel surcharge increase.
Currently, you can expect prices to hover around ~$231.
Keep in mind that prices fluctuate based on the season!

I primarily use Trip.com for booking flights
because it allows for a seamless price comparison at a glance.
It also clearly displays whether checked baggage is included,
which prevents any frustrating surprises at the airport.
Even during busy holiday weekends like Memorial Day in late May,
you can still find round trips for about ~$269.
If you're looking for an international trip departing from Daegu,
I highly recommend looking into Taipei :)

If you click the 'Price Graph' under the date search bar,
it shows you a chart comparing prices for surrounding dates.
This feature is an absolute lifesaver.. 👍
Thanks to this tool, you can easily tell if the price
you're getting is a bargain or a rip-off.
This is honestly the main reason I stick with Trip.com haha.

Flights to Taipei departing from Busan (Gimhae Airport)
offer more diverse time slots
and are sometimes priced slightly lower,
so flying out of Busan is also a solid alternative.

Check-In Hacks
T'way Air allows for mobile check-in.
It opens 24 hours before your flight's departure,
and you can easily check in via your phone or computer.
The best part about mobile check-in?
You get to select your seat for free!
Also, while Daegu and Gimhae airports aren't huge,
if you ever fly out of a crowded hub like Incheon,
there's a dedicated baggage drop counter for mobile check-in,
which saves you a massive amount of time.
I've detailed exactly how to use T'way Air's online check-in
in the link below!
>> How to Check In Online with T'way Air <<
Navigating Daegu Airport

Daegu Airport is much more relaxed than Busan or Incheon,
so I arrived about 2 hours before departure.
Check-in counters close exactly 1 hour before the flight,
so definitely make sure you get there at least 2 hours early!!

At Daegu Airport, T'way Air doesn't separate counters by destination;
everyone queues together.
Because of this, if your flight coincides with popular routes
like Japan or Vietnam, the line can get pretty long.
My friend arrived earlier and had to wait about 20 minutes,
but I got there a bit later after the initial rush,
so there was no line and I checked in instantly.
While there weren't too many people heading to Taiwan,
be prepared for a wait if a busy flight is departing
around the same time as yours.

After checking in, take the escalator up
one floor to the departure gates.
This is where you go through security and immigration.
There were a few people at security,
so I waited about 10 minutes. Haha.
Compared to Gimhae or Incheon,
it is incredibly breezy and stress-free here >.<
T'way Air TW661 & TW664 Review

My outbound flight to Taipei was TW661,
and the return flight to Daegu was TW664.
Lately, tons of people are traveling to Japan and China,
but relatively fewer seem to be heading to Taiwan.
Because of this, there were plenty of empty seats both ways.
Thanks to that, it was a very comfortable, albeit short, flight.

T'way is the airline I end up flying with the most.
The flight attendants are always friendly,
and the cabin was neat and well-maintained!

Since the flight wasn't fully booked,
we had plenty of space to stretch out. Haha.
There were definitely fewer tourists than when I visited last year.
I've recently visited Taiwan, China, and Japan,
and Taiwan was by far the quietest and least crowded,
making it perfect for a laid-back vacation.
With so much amazing food and fun day trips nearby,
I'd definitely go back to Taipei again
if I can score another cheap flight :)

Note that T'way Air does not provide free meals or water.
If you want a full meal during the flight,
you need to pre-order it when booking your ticket.
Otherwise, you can buy instant noodles and snacks onboard.
They have a good selection of beer, coffee, soda, and chips.
Click the photos above to zoom in on the menu.
For in-flight purchases,
you can only use a credit card in your own name,
so make sure to bring a card that works internationally!

After a quick 2.5-hour flight, we touched down at Taoyuan Airport.
Because several other international flights
arrived at the exact same time,
the immigration line was absolutely massive.

But here is a pro-tip for you:
Do NOT stand in that endless immigration line.
Look for the e-Gate booth and register right away.
It's an automated immigration clearance system.
Once you register for e-Gate, you can skip the human officer
and scan your passport at the machines to enter instantly.

The huge crowd on the right side of the photo above
is the standard immigration line for foreign visitors.
A lot of people on my flight from Daegu
didn't seem to know about e-Gate and were stuck waiting.

Since I had already registered for e-Gate last year,
I breezed right through the dedicated automated lane. Haha.
My travel buddy hadn't registered yet,
so they just went to the e-Gate counter and got it done in minutes.
Once you register, it's valid for future trips,
so if you see a long line at immigration,
head straight to the e-Gate enrollment counter nearby.

Once you're enrolled in e-Gate,
you just walk over to the automated gates right next to it
and scan yourself through.
There was literally zero line here. Completely empty! Haha.

Even though I was seated near the very back of the plane,
I made it out faster than almost anyone thanks to e-Gate! ><
I actually beat my checked bags to the carousel and had to wait.

Taiwan Arrival Card
Make sure to fill out the online Arrival Card
before you leave for the airport to save even more time!
That wraps up my guide to finding cheap flights
from Daegu to Taipei
and my honest review of flying T'way Air!
It's a fantastic time of year to visit Taiwan,
so if you're hunting for a quick, affordable international getaway,
definitely put Taipei on your radar :)
