Here is where many travelers get confused: Which terminal should I go to?
Ticket booth locations and operating hours vary slightly between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.
While most major international airlines land at Terminal 1, keep in mind that the ticket counter at Terminal 2 closes earlier in the evening!
📍 Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport
No. 9, Hangzhan S Rd, Dayuan District, Taoyuan City, Taiwan 33758
📍 Airport Terminal 1
Dayuan District, Taoyuan City, Taiwan 337
📍 Airport Terminal 2
B2, No. 9-1, Hangzhan S Rd, Dayuan District, Taoyuan City, Taiwan 337
Taoyuan Airport Terminal 1 Guide Location: B1 Arrivals Hall, Kuo-Kuang Bus Ticket Counter Counter Hours: 7:00 AM - 2:30 AM (Buses run 24 hours a day) If you land at Terminal 1, turn left immediately after clearing customs and exiting the arrivals gate. Look for the signs pointing to "Bus to City" near the escalators and elevators. Take the escalator down to B1. You'll pass a 7-Eleven convenience store. Continue down the corridor until you see the digital bus schedule screens. Right next to them, head to Kuo-Kuang Counters 7 or 8 to show your QR code voucher and redeem your physical tickets. |

If you are arriving at Terminal 1, make sure to screenshot these directions! 📸
⚠️ Note: I didn't use Terminal 2, so please use this as a general reference! (If you need to transfer between terminals, feel free to ask the airport staff for assistance.) Taoyuan Airport Terminal 2 Guide Location: 1F Arrivals Hall, Bus Ticket Counter Counter Hours: 4:30 AM - 10:00 PM |

Once you find the counter, show your downloaded QR code voucher to the staff. They will issue two physical tickets per person (one for departure, one for return).
Keep your return ticket safe! Lost tickets cannot be reissued.
(Physical tickets are valid for up to 6 months from the date of issue.)

This is the updated timetable, effective 05/01/2026.
These schedules show departures from Taipei Main Station and Taoyuan Airport Terminal 2.
The departure times from Terminal 1 are usually only about a 1-minute difference from Terminal 2, so you can treat them as practically identical.
Honestly, the exact timetable matters less during peak hours because the lines can get long, meaning buses run almost continuously to accommodate the crowds. When I arrived around 12:40 AM, buses were pulling up every few minutes!

You can always check the real-time departure board next to the Terminal 1 ticket counter for the most accurate details.
Even though the ticket counters have closing times, the Kuo-Kuang 1819 bus operates 24 hours a day, with intervals ranging from 10 to 30 minutes.
When I lined up at 12:40 AM, buses were arriving consistently every 10 minutes.

Once you have your tickets, head straight to Platform 5. The boarding platforms are located directly opposite the ticket counters.
Finding the platform is incredibly easy, but be prepared for a queue. Since most travelers are heading to Taipei Main Station, the line for the 1819 bus is almost always the longest.

When I first joined the queue, the line for Platform 5 was so long it stretched all the way back to Platform 8!
If you are traveling with a partner or group, here is a pro-tip: split up your roles! One person can queue up at Platform 5 while the other runs to the counter to redeem the tickets. This simple trick will save you tons of waiting time!
I joined the queue at 12:40 AM and boarded the bus around 1:00 AM. It took about 20 minutes from the back of the line to boarding. (If you want to avoid this wait in the middle of the night, your only other real option is a pricey taxi!)

The bus is a comfortable double-decker style, and the ride is surprisingly smooth. I was worried about motion sickness, but it was incredibly stable and relaxing.
The driver handles all the heavy lifting for your luggage, storing it in the lower compartment. They will place a numbered tag on your suitcase and hand you the matching receipt stub. Keep this safe so you can claim your bags when you arrive!
Please note that eating and drinking are strictly prohibited on board. Be sure to finish any snacks or bubble tea before stepping onto the bus!
If you are planning to use the bus for your return trip back to the airport, make sure to read this part carefully!

📍 Taipei Bus Station
No. 209, Sec. 1, Shimin Blvd, Datong District, Taipei City, Taiwan 10351
To take the Kuo-Kuang Bus 1819 from the city back to Taoyuan Airport, head to the Taipei Main Station Bus Terminal, 4th Floor, Platform 409.
(If you already have your round-trip ticket, you can bypass the ticket counter and head straight up to Platform 409 on the 4th floor!)
Check the schedule ahead of time and try to arrive 10 to 15 minutes before departure to secure your spot in line.
⚠️ For One-Way Travelers! Don't worry if you can't find the ticket counter during your trip! I've heard you can tap your EasyCard (Taiwan's transit card) directly to ride. It works similarly to bus systems in other major global cities. You can easily tap on with an EasyCard or buy a ticket at the automated machines, but please note that cash is not accepted directly on the bus. Since I purchased a round-trip ticket in advance, I didn't personally test the EasyCard method, so it's always a good idea to confirm with the station staff! |
Because this bus runs 24/7, it is the ultimate backup option when the Taoyuan Airport MRT is closed for the night and you want to avoid paying for an expensive taxi ride.

Before boarding the bus back to the airport, make sure you know your departure terminal. The driver will ask for your terminal number so they can organize the luggage compartments accordingly and let you off at the correct stop.
Pre-booking your tickets online and scanning your QR code at the counter is incredibly convenient, especially since it saves you from needing local cash immediately upon arrival. It's the absolute smoothest way to kickstart your Taiwan trip!
✅ Save or screenshot your QR code booking voucher.
✅ Present the QR code at the counter to receive 2 physical tickets. Keep the return ticket safe!
✅ Head straight to Platform 5 (divide and conquer with your partner to beat the queue!).
✅ Finish all food and drinks before stepping onto the bus.
✅ For your return journey: Head to the 4th Floor, Platform 409, and arrive 10-15 minutes early.
✅ Double-check your airline terminal (Terminal 1 vs. Terminal 2) before boarding.
Stepping out of a foreign airport can feel overwhelming, but if you follow this simple routine, you'll be on your way to downtown Taipei in no time.
1️⃣ Counter 2️⃣ Redeem Ticket 3️⃣ Platform 5
It's as easy as that!
