Ttangkkeut Songho Beach is a spot I find myself returning to whenever I travel to Haenam. One of the main reasons is that I often stay at the nearby Ttangkkeut Hwangto Nara Theme Village.
This accommodation in Haenam offers fantastic value, and Ttangkkeut Songho Beach is conveniently located right next to it.

What I love about this beach is that it's rarely overcrowded, even during peak season. It's also equipped with excellent facilities for beachgoers, making your visit comfortable and hassle-free.

The scenery here is simply stunning, and the wide, sandy beach provides ample space for kids to play safely. It’s truly a fantastic spot for families.

As you'll see later in the post, the sunsets here are absolutely breathtaking – a perfect end to any beach day.
Every year, Songho Beach hosts a vibrant summer festival. This year, the festivities ran from July 26th to 28th, 2026, offering incredible entertainment for all ages.

During the festival, you can enjoy a variety of attractions, including lively trot music performances, energetic EDM sets, and dazzling fireworks displays. What’s more, temporary inflatable pools are set up right on the beach, making it an absolute paradise for kids to splash and play!

With slides and inflatable pools right on the beach, it’s truly the ultimate summer vacation spot for families. While these fantastic facilities might not be available all summer long, I highly recommend calling ahead to confirm their operating schedule before your visit.

During my visit, we brought our own inflatable sofa, which was incredibly comfortable under the shade. I often bring it along for extra relaxation.

I was pleasantly surprised that there were no separate fees for parasols or other beach amenities during my visit. It really felt like Haenam-gun was making a great effort to support tourism and welcome visitors.

Looking at these pictures, it's amazing to see how much my kids have grown since then!

Right behind the beach, you'll find a beautiful pine forest, which is a popular spot for campers. With plenty of shade and flat ground, it looks like an ideal place to pitch a tent and enjoy nature.

While there aren't many fancy restaurants nearby, we enjoyed a delicious meal at a local "Gisa Sikdang" (Driver's Restaurant) near the beach. True to Jeolla-do's culinary reputation, the food was excellent with an abundance of flavorful side dishes.

Since our visit coincided with the festival, we were treated to a fantastic fireworks display and even caught a glimpse of a live concert – it added so much to the experience!
My Takeaway on Ttangkkeut Songho Beach
For the most enjoyable experience, I highly recommend visiting Ttangkkeut Songho Beach during its annual summer festival. It's incredibly safe for children, and during my trip, the Haenam-gun district managed the beach facilities, allowing us to use everything for free, which was a huge bonus. If any of you have visited recently, feel free to share your experiences – I'd love to hear about them!
