New York & Cancun Honeymoon: Cancun #11
Hi there! It's Bamkki here.
When planning our Cancun honeymoon, the thing we spent the most time agonizing over was...
Which Cancun All-Inclusive Resort to choose!
Because, well, that's where the biggest chunk of our budget went! haha
Haha, seriously! 🤣
There are so many resorts in Cancun.
"Do we really need to go all-inclusive?"
"If so, which room tier should we get? How much should we stretch our budget?"
We went back and forth on this endlessly.
Because for just a bit more, you can get *this*... then for a bit more, you can get *that*... The greed was real! 🫠
Anyway, what I finally settled on was
TRS Coral in the Playa Mujeres area of Cancun,
and the Junior Suite Swim-Up, which is about the 3rd or 4th tier up from the base room.
Today, I'll share my honest review of the Swim-Up room, the room condition,
and even a quick price comparison!
I'm sharing our Cancun honeymoon TRS Coral reviews step-by-step,
and I'll leave the links below!

1. Why We Chose an All-Inclusive Resort in Cancun
Once you start looking into Cancun resorts, you'll quickly realize
how extreme the polarization is.
It's either super budget-friendly or ultra-luxurious all-inclusive resorts.
So, for our 6-night stay in Cancun,
we compromised with 2 budget-friendly nights + 4 all-inclusive nights.
Paying for 6 nights of all-inclusive felt too heavy on our wallet,
and since we had a full-day tour planned,
we didn't want to waste a precious day of all-inclusive amenities!
So, the highlight of our honeymoon—
where we spent our last 4 nights and invested ~$2,561—
is the Cancun All-Inclusive resort, TRS Coral.
Spoiler alert: It was absolutely incredible,
and I want to go back to Cancun for our 10th anniversary so bad! (Haha)
2. TRS Coral Junior Suite Swim-Up Room Review
TRS Coral has so many different room categories.
To list them starting from the most affordable:
Junior Suite (Garden View to Beachside)
Loft Suite (with Jacuzzi, Terrace)
And then comes the Junior Suite Swim-Up.
A "Swim-Up" room is essentially pool access—
meaning the pool connects directly right outside your room.

Once you draw those curtains, the pool is right there! ♥️
The romance of a swim-up room is just crazy, so I have to rave about this first.

When you step out onto the terrace, it connects straight to the pool.
It's not a completely private pool;
it's a shared pool that connects with the neighboring rooms.
But maybe other guests don't use it that much,
because we never really bumped into anyone else
from the neighboring rooms. ^!^

Took this picture at dawn—isn't it absolutely stunning? 💛
Now, let's take a look at the room layout.

As soon as you walk in, there's an open-concept(?) bathroom area to the right.
The two doors in the photo on the left lead to the shower booth and toilet respectively,
while the bathtub and double sinks are completely open to the main area.
Just past the partition wall behind the bathtub is the bed.
I forgot to take a picture of the amenities, but they are actually L'Occitane!
When I asked them to refill the body lotion because it was running low,
they just brought a brand new full-sized bottle. I was so touched by Cancun's generous hospitality.
Capitalism at its absolute finest! 💸

See that wall behind the bed frame?
Yep, the bathtub is located right on the other side of it.
Since the resort is built on a massive piece of land,
the room itself felt incredibly spacious.

And the moment we walked in, we were hit by the ultimate All-Inclusive welcome.
A lovely spread of welcome food and wine was waiting for us.
So of course, we popped the bottle open and started drinking immediately! haha

Water, a kettle, and cups were all ready to go,
and the minibar was fully stocked.
Usually, we're taught never to touch the hotel minibar unless we want a crazy bill, right?
But at an all-inclusive resort, even the minibar is unlimited!
They even sent a pre-arrival survey after I booked,
and filled it up with all my favorite drinks. Haha!
Even after you drink them, you can just text your butler to restock it.
It's basically a bottomless magic minibar.

They have all the basics covered, including a hair dryer,
and the closet was spacious enough to hang up alllll my wrinkle-prone clothes.
3. Pros & Cons of the Swim-Up Pool Access Room

To start with the bottom line: although the room is directly connected to the pool,
we only actually jumped into the swim-up pool twice during our 4-night stay.
The reasons being:
1. The main pool is incredibly well-designed.
2. The pool water was a bit chilly (though the same goes for the main pool).
But on the flip side, the advantages of the swim-up room are:
1. The main pool can be tough to grab a spot if you aren't an early bird.
2. With almost no one else around, it feels incredibly private.
Also, while reading some reviews beforehand,
I saw some complaints about it being humid
since it's on the first floor right next to the water.
But during my stay, I didn't find it humid at all!
Just keep in mind that wet laundry took a while to dry.
4. Cancun Honeymoon Resort Price Comparison
Alright, now for the most important part: the price comparison!
For reference, I booked mine through Trip.com,
but that was only because I got a massive 20–25% discount coupon after booking my flights,
which made it overwhelmingly cheaper...
Normally, unless there's a special promo,
Trip.com tends to be on the pricier side compared to other platforms.
I recently did a mock search for 3 nights in November,
and found that Korean travel agencies like Hana Tour and Web Tour offered the lowest rates.
Since Cancun is such a popular honeymoon destination,
Korean travel agencies seem to offer really great deals and benefits.
Junior Suite Swim-Up Based on Nov 4 - Nov 7 | Price |
Hana Tour (Booking Link) | ~$2,134 |
Agoda (Booking Link) | ~$2,255 |
Trip.com (Booking Link) | ~$2,834 → With flight booking discount: ~$2,135 |
*Prices may vary depending on the date, season, and individual promotions,
so be sure to check them yourself!
Hana Tour
If you're looking strictly at the price, this is currently the cheapest option!
Since it's a hot spot for honeymoons,
Korean travel agencies seem to sell it at highly competitive rates.
They also offer free cancellation options,
so go ahead and check the lowest price here 👇
Hana Tour: As you dream, it unfolds
Agoda
Since a trip like this is a major investment,
it's always a good idea to compare multiple booking platforms.
Their deals, credit card promos, and discounts change all the time.
Generally,
Agoda tends to have the most competitive rates for hotels,
so you definitely want to keep them on your radar.
Agoda Official Site | Free Cancellation & Booking Deals | Over 2 Million Hotels
Trip.com
And lastly, Trip.com!
Thanks to the Platinum tier benefits I unlocked after booking my flights,
I grabbed an extra 20–25% off,
saving me nearly ~$640! Hehe.
Even if your flights aren't specifically to Cancun, booking flights to other regions
can still earn you promo benefits that last for a month or two,
so make sure to double-check!

One last tip! I also requested quotes from travel agencies last year.
To be honest, trying to book through agencies during the New Year's holiday season
came with a minimum stay requirement of 5 nights or more... ㅠ
However, they do bundle in some cool perks compared to booking everything yourself,
so it's definitely worth looking into!

The advantage is that you can enjoy the pool privately without having to secure a spot at the main pool. The disadvantages are that the pool water is cold and laundry doesn't dry well inside the room.
Hanatour was the cheapest at ~$2,132, and Agoda was ~$2,254. Trip.com's base price was ~$2,830, but with a flight booker discount, it can be booked for ~$2,132.
It was because booking all 6 nights as all-inclusive was too expensive. Additionally, since we had an external tour scheduled for one day, we felt it would be a waste of the resort benefits, so we mixed in 2 nights at a more budget-friendly accommodation.
L'Occitane products are provided as amenities, and they are replenished with new ones if you run out. The minibar is unlimited, stocked with drinks tailored to your preferences based on a pre-arrival survey, and constantly refilled upon request to your butler.
