While looking for a Japanese travel destination, I chose

the small city of Tokushima.

It's only about a 1 hour and 45-minute flight from Incheon,

making it easy and stress-free to visit,

and unlike familiar Japanese destinations such as Tokyo or Osaka,

it offers expansive natural landscapes and traditional Japanese scenery

where you can relax and truly enjoy the moment.

Most importantly, it's not yet a destination heavily visited by Korean travelers,

so I loved that I could experience Japan's unique tranquil atmosphere

amidst its quiet alleys and peaceful scenery.

That's why I decided on Tokushima

in Shikoku, Japan, for this trip.

Tokushima is a prefecture located in eastern Shikoku, Japan,

and centered around Tokushima City, it's a small Japanese travel destination

where you can enjoy both nature and traditional culture.

When talking about Tokushima, you can't leave out

Awa Odori (阿波おどり).

It's a traditional dance festival held every August,

and it's a representative culture of Tokushima with a history spanning hundreds of years.

The festival has a strong atmosphere where "both dancers and spectators have fun,"

so if you want to experience a traditional Japanese summer festival,

it's definitely worth checking out.

However, during the Awa Odori period, tourist numbers significantly increase compared to usual,

so if you're looking for a quiet small-town trip,

avoiding the festival period is also an option.

The atmosphere is distinctly different from major cities

like Tokyo or Osaka, where tourists flock.

If you want to take a trip where you can slowly immerse yourself in the local vibe

and experience Japan's serene atmosphere,

I highly recommend the small but charming Tokushima.

Book a Direct Flight to Tokushima with Trip.com

The only direct flight from Incheon to Tokushima is 'Eastar Jet'.

I searched for and booked my flight on Trip.com.

If you're planning a trip to the small Japanese city of Tokushima,

rather than setting your travel dates first, I recommend

planning your itinerary around Eastar Jet's flight days.

The direct flight to Tokushima isn't a daily route;

it typically operates three times a week: on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

For instance, if you depart on a Monday and return on a Wednesday,

you'll need to compare connecting flights in addition to direct ones.

If you're like me and want to visit Tokushima directly,

it's a smart choice to plan your travel itinerary around Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays,

and then search for your flight tickets.

Flight ZE671, which departed from Incheon International Airport Terminal 1,

boarded at Gate 12.

For those of you registered with Smart Pass,

you can use a dedicated lane for boarding,

which reduces your waiting time in the general queue

and allows for a faster boarding process.

So, I highly recommend registering before your departure!

Aircraft boarding closes 15 minutes before the scheduled departure time,

and boarding is not possible after this time.

Incheon-Tokushima Direct Route: Flight time approximately 1 hour 45 minutes

We departed promptly at 13:45 without any significant delays,

and actually arrived 10 minutes earlier than the scheduled 15:30 arrival time at Tokushima Airport,

making the total flight time about 1 hour and 30 minutes!

Since the flight wasn't long, I didn't feel exhausted like on a long-haul journey,

and the fact that it's a direct flight from Incheon

made it a perfect, hassle-free start to exploring a charming small city in Japan.

Eastar Jet has a 3-3 seating arrangement,

which is similar to most medium-sized passenger aircraft.

With three seats on each side of the aisle,

it wasn't much different from the short-haul international flights I usually take.

For routes with short flight times like Incheon-Tokushima,

it's a perfectly comfortable seating configuration.

As someone who is 163cm tall, I used an economy class seat,

and the legroom was ample, so I had a comfortable flight.

Since it's a relatively short flight of about 1 hour and 45 minutes,

neither in-flight meals nor bottled water are provided.

Please keep this in mind when you fly!

Tokushima Airport isn't very large,

so it's not crowded, and the flow for passengers is quite straightforward.

The airport signs are also very clear,

and what's even better, there are Korean interpreters available, so during the immigration process,

I didn't have to worry much about language barriers.

If you follow the Immigration and Arrival signs,

the process goes from immigration screening to baggage claim.

Because the airport is small, the distances you need to walk are not far,

so even first-time visitors to Tokushima Airport

can complete the entry procedures with ease.

Please have your Visit Japan QR code and passport ready.

After registering your fingerprints and having your photo taken as guided by the staff,

simply scan your Visit Japan immigration declaration QR code,

and the entry procedures will be completed without any complicated steps.

However, in some cases, they might ask a few simple questions.

These questions are usually just to confirm your purpose of visit or how long you'll be staying,

so there's no need to panic – just answer truthfully!

After checking your flight number on the display board,

head over to the right conveyor belt to pick up your bags.

While waiting times can vary a bit depending on your flight,

my luggage came out pretty fast, so I didn't have to wait long at all!
