Honestly, I debated whether to visit Tianzifang. I'd heard it was a shopping street, and while White Rabbit candy can be found elsewhere, and I rarely use hand cream (most gifted ones end up as decorative pieces!), I worried I might regret not going. So, I went, and my conclusion? Absolutely go! You won't regret it!
Beyond the hand creams and White Rabbit candy, the charming alleys themselves are incredibly picturesque. I visited on a rainy day, and the drizzle only added to the atmospheric beauty. It was truly lovely! ❤️
Having experienced it firsthand, I can confidently say I would have deeply regretted skipping it. That's why I'm writing this post to highly recommend it!

White Rabbit Candy (Dabaituo)
As soon as you enter Tianzifang, you'll spot the iconic White Rabbit candy store! I hadn't planned on looking for it, but it was right there. They offer a fantastic selection of candies, perfect for gifts. I heard that the Tianzifang location has a wider variety of flavors than other places, so if you're keen on exploring all things White Rabbit, this is the spot to visit.
Qingzhi Hand Cream
This shop is famous for selling hand creams adorned with 365 different birth flowers, one for each day of the year. It's renowned for being a wonderful place to buy a hand cream personalized to a birthday or a special anniversary! It's practically a representative souvenir you must buy when visiting Shanghai, and they even offer initial engraving!
So, if you're planning to gift a hand cream, I highly recommend picking one up while you're in Tianzifang.
However, be aware that your desired date might be out of stock, so it's best to go early. The checkout lines can also be long, so allow yourself plenty of time. My birthday wasn't available, sadly! 🤣
Shanghai Xuehua Gao (Moisturizing Cream) Souvenir Shop
Even though I had already bought Qingzhi hand cream, I couldn't resist entering this Xuehua Gao (moisturizing cream) souvenir shop because it was so quintessentially Chinese! Personally, I felt that for a Shanghai souvenir, a cream with traditional Chinese characters or designs was more fitting than one with just flowers like Qingzhi.
That's why the Zhengege (貞格格) cream, featuring charming Qing Dynasty-era characters, really caught my eye. It even had a lovely sweet scent and was budget-friendly. Honestly, I don't see why Qingzhi is necessarily the only option! ✨️ So, if you spot a shop like the one in the photos while you're passing by, I highly recommend stepping inside.
Shiyunxuan (石运轩)
Shiyunxuan is a fantastic place to explore, offering traditional tea sets and beautiful handmade crafts. It's definitely worth a visit!
Even if souvenirs aren't your main goal, the alleys offer a variety of delicious street foods to try. So, I recommend taking your time and enjoying a leisurely visit.

However, it's more like a sticky, firm caramel than a soft candy, so you might want to avoid it as a gift for grandparents or those with sensitive teeth.
Personally, I found the red bean flavor to be especially delicious!

I bought this for around ~$21! I went without much prior research, so I'm not sure if it was a good deal or not, but to me, it was definitely worth ~$21! It was so beautiful and radiant! 👍🏻
