An Infinity Pool Ocean View Cafe that Transforms into a Vintage BAR at Night

I love nothing more than losing myself in thought while gazing at the ocean, and
this time, I stumbled upon a truly extraordinary spot!
It was an experience far exceeding my expectations, which is why I'm so excited to share it with you.
Here's my review of The Stand in Yangyang!

Imagine sipping coffee with an incredible ocean view – that's what you get at this Yangyang cafe.
With a restaurant, a pub, and even a stunning rooftop infinity pool,
it's truly a multi-cultural complex all rolled into one.
It was the perfect place to spend a relaxed half-day or more.

If you're brainstorming ideas for a weekend getaway in Gangwon-do,
this post might just be the perfect guide for you! :>
📍 Right on Hajodae Beach
🚗 On-site parking available
💛 Cafe is open / Rooftop pool (operates seasonally)

🩷
The Stand cafe in Yangyang boasts excellent accessibility, situated directly in front of Hajodae Beach!
It was perfect for a visit before or after a stroll along the beach, and I found countless photo-worthy spots, especially by the window seats and on the rooftop.

It perfectly complements Yangyang's signature free-spirited vibe,
making it one of the most memorable places from my entire trip.
Just a heads-up: during peak season, window seats and popular photo zones can get quite busy,
so I'd recommend visiting on a quieter weekday or right when they open to truly soak it all in.

Mood
I was looking for a place with a bit more **character** than your average ocean view cafe,
and while browsing social media and blogs, my eyes were drawn to a place that felt both **vintage** and
incredibly **hip** – that place was none other than **The Stand**.
In the morning, it offers a beautifully atmospheric ocean view.
But as night falls, it transforms into a trendy lounge bar with dazzling lights,
revealing a charm utterly different from its daytime persona.

Step inside the ground floor, and you'll be captivated by the sophisticated interior and artful decor.
The building itself is incredibly spacious, and each floor boasts a distinct ambiance, making it a joy to explore every nook and cranny.

Artistic installations are thoughtfully placed throughout, so
no matter where you strike a pose, you're guaranteed to capture a 'shot of a lifetime'.
There was also a bakery section near the ground floor counter,
and let me tell you, it was so popular and delicious that
most of the bakery items were almost completely sold out! haha

From the window seats, through the transparent, panoramic windows overlooking the outside,
you can truly soak in the ambiance of Hajodae Beach, no matter where you're seated 🔅
Restaurant & Menu

At The Stand, you can enjoy not only a magnificent view but also
delicious meals and drinks, thanks to the
restaurant operating alongside the cafe.
This means you can easily spend your time here from lunch right through to dinner.
The restaurant menu features
a diverse selection of Western dishes, including steak, pasta, gnocchi, and various seafood creations,
and even offers a wine selection.
On the ground floor, there's also a pub where you can enjoy highballs and beer,
so you can enjoy a sweet coffee during the day
and then transition to an atmospheric drink in the evening – it's perfectly set up for both!!
With spacious seating and generous table spacing,
it's comfortable not only for couples but also for families and larger groups.

* Cafe Beverage Menu
From sweet drinks and refreshing ades to
Einspanner and aromatic coffee selections, the variety was so extensive that
I had a delightfully difficult time choosing! ㅠㅠㅋㅋㅋ
Personally, after sampling a few, I
ended up ordering their signature Nutty Press,
It was incredibly delicious, sweet and savory! 🩷
This is my top recommended drink!

I've been to many ocean-view cafes, but
finding a place with a cafe, restaurant, pub, and infinity pool all under one roof
is so rare, making this spot incredibly unique and special! 🥹
📷
But among all those amazing features, there was something truly exceptional that stood out…

And the absolute best photo spot was, of course, the 4th-floor rooftop pool!!
As soon as I opened the door, the refreshing ocean of Hajo-dae
unfolded beyond the infinity pool,
and the actual view felt so much more expansive and grand
than what I'd seen in photos!
[Admission Fees]
Adult: ~$21
Child (Elementary School Grades 1-6): ~$7
Preschoolers: Free
The infinity pool operates seasonally (June-September)
(Please note that operating hours and fees may vary depending on the season and specific dates of your visit.)

Pro Tip ✳
✔ Photos look best when taken from the pool's edge, rather than by the sunbeds.
✔ The lighting and colors are especially beautiful between 5 and 7 PM.
✔ For a more refreshing and expansive shot, capture the infinity pool
with a vertical composition against the ocean backdrop.
✔ White and black attire complements the vibe of the space perfectly.
✳️ The seating is generously spaced, so it doesn't feel crowded even when it's busy!
✳️ Sunbeds and shower facilities are conveniently located right next to the pool!
✳️ Just spending time in this space during the height of summer would be absolutely perfect!
If you're looking to truly immerse yourself in the Yangyang vibe,
this is definitely a place worth checking out at least once!

Quick Look: Pros
• Cafe, restaurant, and pub all in one convenient location
• Right in front of Hajodae Beach
• The rooftop infinity pool is truly impressive
• Spacious seating, perfect for lingering
• Abundance of photo opportunities

Quick Look: Cons
During peak season, it can get crowded, and window seats tend to fill up quickly.
If you're hoping for a more relaxed experience and plenty of time for photos,
I recommend visiting right at opening time or on a weekday!
💟 Your 'Must-Save' Checklist

My Verdict
If you're visiting Hajodae Beach,
I highly recommend extending your visit to include The Stand,
rather than just seeing the beach and moving on.
If I get to visit Gangwon-do again, I definitely want to incorporate a plan
to enjoy the rooftop infinity pool and spend a leisurely half-day there!
I will absolutely, without a doubt, revisit..!!
