The Quay Hotel: A Budget-Friendly Gem

Planning a trip to Singapore?
If you've started looking at accommodations, you might have been shocked by the sky-high prices.
While planning a trip with my parents,
I was honestly taken aback by how expensive the hotels were.
But after some serious digging for a budget-friendly option,
I finally found the perfect spot.
Today, I'm excited to share my review of
The Quay Hotel, a fantastic find with an amazing location and unbeatable value!

The Quay Hotel is located right near Clarke Quay.
Being so close to the river makes it
an absolutely perfect spot for day or night strolls.

📍 It's also just a 10-minute walk (about half a mile) to Chinatown,
and there's a bus stop right outside the front door,
making getting around the city incredibly easy.
We took a red-eye flight and
arrived at the hotel past midnight,
but we were still able to check in without any issues.
You can check out more detailed info
about the hotel below.

The lobby isn't huge—just a check-in counter
and a few chairs—
but it's beautifully decorated with marble tiles,
giving it a clean and surprisingly upscale vibe.

Interestingly, there was a microwave
right next to the lobby elevators.
While they don't provide bottled water in the rooms,
there's a water dispenser in the hallway,
so you can fill up your own bottle for free.
Since buying bottled water constantly during a trip can add up,
having a water dispenser was a huge plus for us.

The layout of the hotel was a bit unique.
We had to go up and down some stairs
and turn a few corners to reach our room at the end of the hall,
so it was quite a walk from the elevator.
We booked the Superior Double Room,
which was the most affordable option.

The room features a double bed, a small table,
and minimal furniture,
designed to maximize the available space.
It was a windowless room, but it seemed like
they kept the AC running to maintain the air quality.
When we walked in, it didn't feel humid or stuffy at all.

At about 160 sq ft, the room had
plenty of space to fully open two suitcases side-by-side.
While it's not massive, it certainly didn't
feel cramped or uncomfortable.

In-room amenities included coffee, tea, and an electric kettle,
plus some sports drinks in the mini-fridge.
These are provided as complimentary welcome drinks,
so feel free to enjoy them!

The bathroom was surprisingly spacious
with a separate shower area.
It's designed as a wet room, meaning you don't
have to worry about water splashing on the floor.

The shower is a standing stall without a bathtub,
and thankfully, it has a handheld showerhead
rather than a fixed one, which made showering much easier.

They provide all the basic toiletries,
including toothbrushes, toothpaste, combs, and shaving kits,
so you really don't need to pack these from home.
While the room and bathroom weren't ultra-luxurious,
they were excellent for the price point.

Since we arrived in Singapore in the early hours of the morning,
we originally booked this just as a quick overnight stay,
but it ended up being one of the most satisfying hotels of our trip.
Because it lacks a pool and other high-end facilities,
the room rates stay low at around ~$115 to ~$138,
and honestly, the room size was a pleasant surprise.
Having a bus stop right out front made transit a breeze,
and ❗️ the fresh-squeezed orange juice vending machine on the first floor
was definitely the cherry on top.
If you're looking for a hotel in Singapore that perfectly balances
a great location with an affordable price tag,
I highly recommend The Quay Hotel.
I compared several sites before booking, so I'll leave the
link where I found the cheapest rate below.
Be sure to check it out if you're planning to book!
