Texas Chicken Thao Dien Review 2026: Spicy Fried Chicken in HCMC
Find out why Texas Chicken at Vincom Mega Mall Thao Dien is a must-try for delicious, generously-sized fried chicken and spicy burgers in Ho Chi Minh City.

Sometimes, after a long Monday, all you want is something easy and delicious for dinner. My go-to spot? Texas Chicken, conveniently located on the 5th floor of Vincom Mega Mall Thao Dien. While I was dreaming of "chimaek" (chicken and beer), I had a workout planned, so it was chicken and a soda for me!
The Texas Chicken combo is a real treat, featuring three generous pieces of their famous fried chicken alongside a sweet, baked biscuit-like bread – think KFC biscuit, but with its own unique twist.

Ordering is simple – just head to the counter!

I really appreciated that there's a hand-washing station right next to the trash area. It's super convenient!
They also provide disposable gloves, but next time, I think I'll just wash my hands and enjoy my chicken the old-fashioned way.

They say it's three pieces of chicken, but seriously, these are massive! Each piece is so huge, it almost feels like half a chicken on its own!

When the richness of the fried chicken starts to set in, a spoonful of coleslaw is the perfect palate cleanser.

We also ordered a burger. You can choose between original or spicy for all chicken and burger options, and of course, we went for spicy all the way!
The real game-changer in the burger was the addition of nacho chips inside – a brilliant crunch!
Funnily enough, even though we chose spicy for both the fried chicken and the burger patty, the chicken in the burger packed a much hotter punch. It was totally my style!
Even my partner, who usually opts for just chicken, was impressed, saying, "Oh, we could totally each get a burger next time!" But then, the irresistible fried chicken won out, and they concluded that having both – chicken followed by a burger – was the ultimate combo. Can't argue with that!

TEXAS CHICKEN
Did you know that Texas Chicken is actually known as 'Church's Texas Chicken' in its home country? It's a chicken franchise that originated in the United States, first established in Texas in 1952.
In the US, it's commonly called Church's Chicken, but internationally, they lean into the name Texas Chicken to emphasize its "Texas-style chicken" image as a marketing strategy!

The Chicken Combo (three pieces of chicken + refillable drink + coleslaw) costs 149,000 VND, which is approximately ~$5.

The Burger Mexicana, ordered à la carte, was 69,000 VND, roughly ~$2.

Here's a look at the full menu, including the Mexicana options.

They also offer sauced chicken options. Five pieces of sauced chicken were priced at 99,000 VND, which is approximately ~$4.

Drinks are refillable, so you can quench your thirst as much as you like!

Ketchup and chili sauce are also readily available nearby.

While you can find chicken at WinMart on Basement 1 of Vincom Mall, and McDonald's on the 1st floor, for freshly fried, hot chicken, Texas Chicken on the 5th floor is definitely the best choice!
I can see myself coming back to Texas Chicken often for a quick and satisfying dinner.
