Taoyuan Airport Lounge Guide

Hey fellow global explorers!
Did you know there's a lounge at Taiwan's Taoyuan Airport pouring
unlimited Kavalan whisky?
Yep, you read that right. It's not available in every lounge, though.
You'll find this fantastic perk exclusively at the newly remodeled
Plaza Premium Lounge in Terminal 1.
And yes, it's completely all-you-can-drink! ^^
From ice-cold Taiwan Beer on tap
to neat pours of Kavalan Classic Single Malt,
here is my full review of this must-visit
Taoyuan Airport layover oasis!
In today's post, we'll cover:
✔️ Taoyuan Airport Lounge Prices |
✔️ Location & How to Get There |
✔️ Terminal 1 Lounge Full Review |
Let's dive right in! 💚
1. How Much Does the Taoyuan Airport Lounge Cost?

The lounge I visited this time is the
Plaza Premium Lounge located in Terminal 1.
It operates 24/7 and features shower facilities,
making it incredibly popular among transit passengers.
As a bonus, it was recently remodeled,
so the interior feels incredibly clean, modern, and fresh.

To be honest, several lounges at TPE are under
construction until June 2026, so options are a bit limited right now.
However, hearing about this grand reopening made it an easy choice!
The walk-in price can be steep, but if you book online,
you can snag access for around ~$38.
Lounge Access Fee | Quick Booking Links | |
Klook | ~$49 | |
KKday | ~$40 |
While it's not the cheapest airport lounge in the world,
considering the amenities you get,
paying under ~$46 feels like a solid investment
for a comfortable pre-flight experience.

✔️ Unlimited Kavalan Whisky,
✔️ Free shower facilities,
✔️ Dedicated laptop spaces and cozy rest zones.
It's not massive, but it perfectly packs in everything you need!
Pro tip: If you book via KKday, use the promo code below
to shave a little extra off the top.

2. Where is it & How to Get There? (Terminal 1)

Terminal 1 at Taoyuan actually has quite a few lounges.
It can sound confusing when people give directions,
but the good news is that
they are all clustered together on the same floor/corridor.

Right after you clear outbound immigration,
look straight ahead for the "VIP Lounges" overhead signs.
Follow the arrows, and you'll find it easily.
You'll need to head up one floor.
If you ever get turned around, just asking the info desk
is the fastest way to get back on track.
3. My Plaza Premium Lounge Experience

I arrived around 5:00 PM on a weekday,
and there was a slight line to get in.
You stand in the left line to register your voucher/QR code,
then wait in the right line for a staff member
to guide you to your assigned seat.
Because turnover is surprisingly fast,
I only waited about 10 minutes before getting seated.
Since a few other lounges are currently under construction,
this one does absorb a lot of the overflow traffic.

Despite the crowd, the seating variety is excellent: solo pods,
laptop-friendly worktables, and cozy setups for couples or groups.

The buffet spread isn't the largest I've seen,
but the quality of what they do offer is top-notch.

The absolute highlight is the Live Cooking Station!
You can order Taiwanese beef noodle soup, mixed dry noodles,
udon, and braised pork rice bowls made fresh to order.

Let me tell you, the beef noodle soup here is incredible.
(Honestly, it was better than some bowls I had in the city... 👍)

They also had night market staples like fried sweet potato balls
and pineapple cakes. Don't let the humble appearance of the
chicken soup fool you either—it was rich and deeply flavorful.

But the real star of the show is the Taiwan Beer and Kavalan Whisky🥃
Having unlimited access to a world-class single malt is amazing.
It's entirely self-serve, so you can pour at your own pace
without feeling self-conscious.
If you appreciate a good drink before you fly,
the Plaza Premium Lounge is undeniably the best
lounge choice at Taoyuan Airport!
4. Does the Lounge Have Showers?

Yes! There are shower facilities located right by the lounge entrance.
While I didn't use them myself this time,
you just need to check in at the front desk to use them.
They are completely free to use.
Because they are complimentary, don't expect a five-star spa experience,
but if you have a long layover or a grueling long-haul flight ahead,
a hot shower here is an absolute lifesaver!
Fun fact: You can actually use the showers even if you don't buy lounge access!
5. Is the Taoyuan Airport Lounge Worth It?

Let's break it down honestly.
📌 Highly recommended if you:
- Are a fan of Kavalan Whisky and Taiwan Beer
- Want to knock out a great meal and relax before heading home
- Prefer a clean, modern space over massive square footage
📌 Skip it if you:
- Expect an endless, Vegas-style buffet spread
- Need a sprawling, empty lounge to walk around in
- Are looking for an ultra-luxury, first-class-only vibe
For under ~$40, getting unlimited Kavalan Whisky
plus a stellar Live Noodle Station
made it completely worth the price of admission for me.
FAQ: Taoyuan Airport Lounges

Q. Do I have to book in advance?
You can pay at the door, but the pre-booking price is
significantly cheaper. I highly recommend booking
ahead through platforms like KKday or Klook.
Q. How many lounges are open in Terminal 1?
Because of ongoing renovations, options are currently reduced.
As of May 2026, Plaza Premium is your best bet as it
boasts the freshest remodel.
The Oriental Lounge is slated to reopen after June 2026,
which should help spread out the crowds even more.
Final Thoughts

That wraps up my Taoyuan Airport Lounge review.
If you want to sip endless glasses of premium Kavalan Whisky,
the Plaza Premium Lounge is the place to be!
(Spoiler: They don't even serve it in the Korean Air Prestige Lounge!)
