So, even if you’ve pre-booked your pickup, remember to have some local currency on hand if you're arriving late.
Speaking of local currency, if you arrive late at night, be aware that there's usually only one currency exchange counter open in the arrivals hall. It often has a sign warning that it's your last chance before exiting! I saw several travelers miss it, only to realize they had no TWD for the surcharge once they were outside. The staff confirmed that after you exit, all other exchange booths are closed at that hour.
They suggested passengers try to exchange money at their hotel, but if your first hotel doesn't have a 24-hour reception, that could be a significant problem. So, if you anticipate needing local currency for a night surcharge or anything else, make sure to use that one open exchange counter before you leave the secure area.
After sorting out the payment, we were off! The driver took the most direct route, and there were no detours or attempts to overcharge. I arrived at my hotel feeling refreshed, not stressed. The Taiwan airport pickup service was definitely a winner!
