I recently visited Tanhyun Sushi, a well-known spot in Unnam-dong, Yeongjongdo!

I'm excited to share all the details, from parking and the restaurant's atmosphere to menu recommendations and tips for weekend reservations!

1. Location & Parking

Tanhyun Sushi is conveniently located in Unnam-dong, Yeongjongdo.

It sits right between Haneul-dong and Neopdi, making it easily accessible by car from anywhere on the island.

There were about 6 parking spaces available right in front of the building.

However, these spots are shared with other nearby shops, so I'd recommend trying to park in the front row closest to the restaurant if possible!

2. Interior Ambiance

The interior was decorated in a warm, inviting wood tone that perfectly suits a Japanese restaurant.

It felt more calm and cozy than flashy, making it an ideal spot for a relaxed meal and conversation with a friend!

The restaurant was quite intimate, with only about 5 tables.

But this was actually a plus! The owner was incredibly attentive to each table, offering a level of personalized service that you often don't find in larger establishments.

3. Menu Recommendations

My friend and I ordered the Half Soba and Assorted Sushi Set.

My friend stuck with the standard set, but I customized mine by swapping the inari (fried tofu skin) and tamago (egg) sushi for extra shrimp sushi!

The first thing that caught my eye was the thick-cut sashimi.

At some other sushi places, the amount of rice can overpower the flavor of the fish, but here, the rice portion was just right, allowing the texture and taste of the sashimi to truly shine!

The cold soba that came with the set was also incredibly delicious!

The broth was rich and perfectly chilled, and the noodles remained delightfully chewy even after sitting for a while. It was a hot day, and this refreshing, flavorful cold soba hit just the spot, cooling me down completely!

Be sure to try wrapping your sushi with the gamtae (seaweed) that's served separately.

The gamtae added a nutty, savory depth that transformed the sushi into an entirely different, even more delicious experience! Highly recommend!

The set also includes shrimp tempura, and you absolutely must eat it as soon as it arrives!

They're freshly fried, so they're piping hot and incredibly crispy—we devoured them in no time!

4. Waiting & Reservations

I visited on a Saturday around 2:00 PM, and by pure luck, there was one last table available, so we were seated immediately.

However, right after we sat down, a waiting line started to form! Others who have visited before mentioned that there's usually a wait on weekends.

Due to the limited number of tables, if you're traveling a distance to get here, I highly recommend checking for reservations by phone or through Naver before you visit!
