Jiufen
Nougat Crackers
Misty

📍 Misty Nougat Cracker Jiufen Branch
No. 29, Jishan St, Yongqing Village, Ruifang District, New Taipei City, Taiwan 224
When you think of Taipei travel, nougat crackers are undoubtedly one of the must-buy souvenirs.
On a previous trip, years ago, Mimi or 55 were the reigning champions. But on my recent visit, it seems the top spots for nougat crackers have shifted.
While L'atelier Lotas in Yongkang Street is currently quite popular, my itinerary didn't allow for a visit there.
So, since I was in Jiufen, I decided to check out Misty, which is gaining traction as an alternative to the famous 55 Nougat Crackers. I found them just as delicious as the Mimi Nougat Crackers I remembered.
They offer classic flavors, but also coffee, and you can sample different flavors before you buy.
If you're visiting Jiufen, definitely give them a try before making your purchase!
Pineapple Cakes
Shou Shin Fang

📍 Jiufen
224 Taiwan, New Taipei City, Ruifang District, Jiufen
Besides nougat crackers, pineapple cakes are another iconic Taipei souvenir that consistently makes every shopping list, right?
To be honest, on a previous trip, I'd heard Shou Shin Fang's pineapple cakes were amazing, so I bought the 100% pineapple variety and was a bit underwhelmed. I remember thinking, 'Is this really worth it?' This time, I seriously debated whether to buy them again.
However, I realized that for older relatives or those who prefer softer treats, pineapple cakes are a gentler option than the chewier nougat crackers.
So, I initially thought a higher pineapple content meant better quality and planned to buy the 100% again. But thankfully, they offered samples, and after trying both, I found the 80% much more to my liking!
Therefore, if you're planning to buy pineapple cakes from Shou Shin Fang, I personally highly recommend sampling them first to find your favorite.

Yingge Ceramics Village
Teapots

Yingge Ceramics Village, while not always on the top of every Taipei itinerary, is a place I personally recommend visiting for its charming streets and the opportunity to buy beautiful ceramics at incredibly affordable prices.
I picked up a lovely teapot in Yingge for about ~$5! Isn't that an amazing deal?! So, if you make it to Yingge, definitely add some ceramics to your souvenir list!

National Palace Museum
Jadeite Cabbage Bookmark

The National Palace Museum is a must-visit on any trip to Taiwan! I always make it a point to buy a souvenir wherever I travel.
At the National Palace Museum, the Jadeite Cabbage and the Meat-shaped Stone are legendary. I really wanted to buy a related souvenir, and after browsing, I found the Jadeite Cabbage bookmark to be both beautiful and practical.
At about ~$7, it was a bit pricier than the teapot I bought in Yingge, which made me hesitate. But I figured, 'You only live once, and who knows when I'll be back?' so I splurged!
Once I got home and started using it, I was surprised by how elegant and beautiful it truly is.
So, if you're looking for a memorable souvenir from your National Palace Museum visit, I highly recommend the Jadeite Cabbage bookmark.

Duty-Free
Kavalan Whisky

Wondering what to pick up at the duty-free shop?
I recommend Kavalan whisky!
While you might find Kavalan a bit cheaper at liquor stores outside the airport, if you're busy exploring all the amazing sights, you might not have time to hunt for a bottle.
So, for those short on time, like me, buying Kavalan at the duty-free is a convenient and excellent option.
Convenience Store
Pudding

This pudding was recommended by a fellow traveler, and let me tell you, it's a game-changer!
I wasn't always a big fan of pudding, but after trying some truly delicious ones lately, my aversion has significantly decreased.
The pudding my friend suggested blew me away – it was even better than some I've had in Japan! Truly a life-changing pudding💚
If you spot it in a convenience store, you absolutely have to try it!
Snacks
Fried Egg Potato Chips

I'm not usually a huge potato chip enthusiast, but these fried egg flavored chips are incredibly famous for actually tasting like fried eggs.
I was curious, so I picked up a bag, and wow, they really do taste like fried eggs! It's such a unique flavor, definitely worth trying at least once.
Lay's Scallop Flavored Potato Chips

These Lay's Scallop flavored potato chips are apparently a favorite among seafood lovers.
They have a pleasant, savory flavor! While they're called 'scallop flavored,' to me, they tasted more like a general savory seafood seasoning on chips.
Feminine Hygiene Products

To be honest, I hadn't planned on buying these, but a travel companion highly recommended them.
They raved about the incredible cooling sensation, so I was intrigued. I haven't actually used them myself yet, as I haven't quite reached for them.
However, they often pop up when you search for unique Taiwan souvenirs.
So, if you're curious about trying something truly different, it might be worth adding to your souvenir haul.
