Did you book a late-night flight to Taiwan
simply because the price was too good to pass up?
But now that it's booked, are you feeling a bit lost about
where to stay when you land in the middle of the night,
and how on earth you'll get to your hotel?
When you actually start searching for hotels,
you'll find that surprisingly many places
don't allow late-night check-ins.
But don't worry, I've got you covered!
As a seasoned traveler who almost always flies late-night,
I'm sharing two 24-hour check-in friendly
"half-night" stays that I've personally used!
First, let's talk about the best area to book a half-night stay
when you land in Taipei during the early hours.

My top recommendation is the area around Zhongshan Station.
There are three main reasons why I highly recommend this spot:

📍 1. It's incredibly close to Taipei Bus Station.
When you arrive in the middle of the night, the only practical way to get to the city
is taking the Kuo-Kuang Bus 1819.
The final stop of this bus is Taipei Bus Station.
The area circled in red on the map
is within a 10-minute walk from the bus station,
making it super easy to reach, even after a tiring flight.
📍 2. Super affordable room rates.
It feels like a waste to spend a fortune on a room you'll only use for a few hours.
In this area, there are plenty of decent hotels under ~$64 a night
that offer surprisingly good quality for the price.

📍 3. Fantastic local food spots nearby.
There are so many amazing local eateries right around the corner.
When you arrive late at night, it might look quiet since everything is closed
except for convenience stores and fast food joints.
But step outside during the day,
and you'll find an abundance of mouth-watering food spots.
From doujiang (soy milk), danbing (egg crepes), to fantuan (rice rolls),
there are plenty of breakfast spots serving authentic local flavors,
making it the perfect way to start your Taiwanese food adventure!

Even though I only stayed here for a few quick hours after landing,
the location is so convenient that I would have been more than happy
staying here for my entire trip.
Now, let's dive into the details of the two "half-night" hotels with 24-hour check-in
located right in this perfect neighborhood!
Checkinn Express Taipei Station
Check-in: 15:00 ~
Check-out: ~11:00
Location: 6-minute walk from Taipei Bus Station (350m)
Room Types: Standard, Superior, Deluxe, etc.
Rates: Weekdays from ~$38, Weekends from ~$70
Note: Disposable amenities/toiletries are not provided
The first hotel I want to share with you is
Checkinn Express Taipei.

It's just a 6-minute walk from Taipei Bus Station,
so getting here in the middle of the night is a breeze.
Plus, with rates starting at ~$38 for weekdays
and around ~$70 for weekends,
it's the perfect price point for a quick half-night stay.
This hotel features self-service kiosks
for check-in and check-out,
making late-night arrivals seamless.
Even when we arrived around 2:00 AM,
there was still a staff member on-site,
which made the check-in process even smoother and more reassuring.

As for the hotel lobby and hallways...
It gave off a bit of a standard motel vibe at first.
But the entire building was actually really clean,
and it didn't feel outdated at all, which was great.

And the moment I opened the door, I was so surprised by how spacious
and clean the room was!
There was plenty of room next to the bed to lay out two suitcases,
and the bathroom even came with a bathtub.
Accommodation in downtown Taipei areas like Ximending
can be super expensive and notoriously cramped,
so being able to enjoy such a spacious room for less than half the price
made me incredibly happy with my choice.

Plus, having a bathtub is quite rare for budget hotels in Taipei,
so it was amazing to soak and wash away all my travel fatigue.
Even though I only booked this place for a "half-night" stay,
I loved it so much that I seriously contemplated switching
the rest of my trip's accommodations to this hotel!
If you are looking for a comfy spot for a quick half-night stay,
or want a budget-friendly base for your entire Taipei adventure,
I highly recommend Check Inn Express Taipei!
Mr. Lobster's Secret Den
Check-in: 15:00 ~
Check-out: ~11:00
Location: 6-minute walk from Taipei Bus Station (400m)
Room Types: Standard, Superior, Deluxe, etc.
Rates: Weekdays from ~$33, Weekends from ~$51
Note: Single-use toiletries are not provided

Our second accommodation is Mr. Lobster's Secret Den,
which isn't too far from Check Inn Express.
It's just a 6-minute walk from Taipei Bus Station,
and rates start around ~$33 for weekdays and ~$51 for weekends,
making it an even more budget-friendly option.

This place also operates as a hostel,
so they offer both shared dormitory rooms and private double rooms.
Plus, if you contact them in advance when booking,
the staff can assist you with check-in even in the middle of the night.
(It seems some of the staff actually live on-site.)

Since it's a hybrid hostel-hotel,
the communal lounge and kitchen facilities are fantastic.
If Taiwanese local food isn't quite your thing,
you might find it much easier to whip up your own meals here!

We stayed in a Private Double Room for two.
The room didn't have any fancy decor,
giving it a cozy, homelike feel.
Inside, it was quite simple with just a small table, two chairs,
and a bed,
but there was plenty of open floor space,
easily allowing us to open up two large suitcases.

The bathroom style actually reminded me a bit of
a typical early-2000s Korean home.
Still, it was very spacious,
which actually made it much more comfortable to use.
One thing to keep in mind is that they only provide
liquid hand soap and an all-in-one body & hair wash.
For those who prefer to use separate shampoo or conditioner,
I highly recommend bringing some disposable ones with you just in case!

While the room quality here is a bit basic,
it is about 20% cheaper than other options,
and it has the advantage of offering single-person rooms.
So, if you are a solo backpacker or
travelers looking for a budget-friendly half-night stay, this is a perfect choice!

making them absolutely perfect for a quick, comfortable pit stop.

On the other hand, if you want something with slightly higher quality,
