When you're planning a trip to Taipei, Taiwan, what essential items come to mind?
Beyond the usual travel essentials, you're probably thinking about attraction tickets, transportation passes, and other must-haves for exploring the Taipei area.
But what if I told you there's one single item that can take care of all these things at once?
Today, I'm excited to introduce you to the Taipei Fun Pass, the ultimate must-have for effortless Taipei trip planning!

The Taipei Fun Pass is an all-in-one pass that includes admission to various attractions spanning Taipei city and its surrounding areas, unlimited rides on city buses and the metro, and even transportation to nearby excursions.
This means with just one Fun Pass, you can skip the hassle of booking individual tickets and transportation passes for Taipei's many sights. ✅ Your trip planning is done in one go!

📌 The Fun Pass comes in 1-day, 2-day, and 3-day options, but I strongly recommend opting for the 3-day pass.
While Taipei's public transportation is quite affordable, the 1-day or 2-day passes might not offer enough value to justify the cost. However, the 3-day pass allows you to ▶️ save money and enjoy incredible convenience, hitting two birds with one stone!
You can even book your Fun Pass right here, so keep scrolling for the link!

I briefly mentioned some of the places where you can use the Taipei Fun Pass earlier.
Let's dive into more details about where this pass truly shines.

The pass includes admission to 34 attractions, 5 cultural experiences, four lines of city/suburban public transportation, and even a night market beer mug souvenir.
Since there are so many options, it can be a bit overwhelming. So, I've compiled a list of the truly worthwhile spots you can visit with the pass below.

Category | Recommended Uses |
Transportation | Taipei Metro, City Buses |
Attractions | Taipei 101, Miramar Ferris Wheel, Maokong Gondola, National Palace Museum, Fort San Domingo, Jinguashi Gold Museum, Yehliu Geopark, Taipei Zoo |
Experiences & Souvenirs | Shifen Sky Lantern Experience, Jiufen Granny's Taro Balls, Ahong's Pineapple Cake, Dragon & Tiger Night Market Cup |
By utilizing tours or planning your own route, you can experience most of the attractions and activities listed in the table over three days, saving significantly on admission fees.
Using the Fun Pass is also incredibly straightforward.
I'll walk you through how to use it at different locations with the photos below.

1. Public Transportation
📍 First up, how to ride public transportation.
Taipei's metro and buses operate similarly to many other modern cities – you tap a card to enter and exit. Instead of a separate transport card, you can simply tap your Fun Pass for seamless travel.
Many travelers use an EasyCard for public transport, but constantly reloading it can be a hassle, and dealing with leftover balance is often tricky.

With the Fun Pass, you don't need to worry about recharging, and there's no extra cost if you accidentally take the wrong metro line or bus, giving you peace of mind while exploring. (I personally didn't use my EasyCard at all on my trip!)

2. Tourist Attractions
📍 Next, let's look at how to use the pass at tourist attractions. The method varies slightly depending on the specific site.
For places like Yehliu Geopark or the National Palace Museum, you can directly enter by tapping your Fun Pass, no need for separate ticket exchange.

However, for attractions like Taipei 101 or the Miramar Ferris Wheel, you'll need to exchange your Fun Pass for a physical ticket at the ticket counter or a designated machine before entry.
Even with this slight difference, it's incredibly convenient to handle all your attraction entries with just one Fun Pass!

3. Souvenir Exchange
📍 Finally, here's how to claim your souvenir.
Simply visit the Tourist Service Center in Ximending, present your Fun Pass, and you can pick up your complimentary beer mug.

It's a small cup, about 6.8 fluid ounces (200ml), so initially, I wondered, 'What would I even use this for?' But now, it has become our couple's favorite beer mug, and we use it all the time!
The design is surprisingly cute, so if you're a collector of unique mugs, I highly recommend picking it up as a souvenir!

Today, I've shared some essential information about the Taipei Fun Pass, a must-have for anyone planning a trip to Taipei.
By using the Fun Pass, you can consolidate all your transportation passes and admission tickets into one convenient card. Plus, carrying just one pass around makes exploring the city so much easier!
I highly recommend the Fun Pass for those looking for a comfortable and stress-free trip, whether you're traveling with parents or children. Below, I've also included my personal review of using the Fun Pass during my 3-night, 4-day Taipei trip, so you can plan your own seamless adventure!

Taiwan Travel eSIM Recommendation: Registration & Usage Guide
Since transportation costs in Taiwan are relatively cheap, it is difficult to get your money's worth with a 1-day or 2-day pass. Therefore, we recommend purchasing the 3-day pass, which offers both cost savings and convenience.
For Taipei 101 and the Miramar Ferris Wheel, you must present your Fun Pass at the ticket counter or exchange kiosk to get a physical ticket before entering. This is different from places like Yehliu Geopark or the National Palace Museum, where you can enter directly simply by tapping your pass.
When using a Fun Pass, you don't need to top it up during your trip or worry about getting a refund for the remaining balance, unlike an EasyCard. It is also convenient because you won't incur any extra charges even if you take the wrong subway or bus.
You can receive the night market beer glass by visiting the tourist information center in Ximending and presenting your Fun Pass. The glass provided is a small 200ml size.
