What makes it even better is its proximity to Dihua Street, a vibrant area brimming with charming cafes and historic architecture. The perfect itinerary? Spend an afternoon exploring Dihua Street, then seamlessly transition to Dadaocheng for an unforgettable sunset experience. The flow couldn't be more ideal!

For first-time visitors to Taipei, you might wonder if you need to venture all the way to Tamsui for a stunning sunset. But let me tell you, Dadaocheng offers a wonderfully local and accessible sunset spot right within the city, and I can't recommend it enough!
Getting there is a breeze!
From Beimen Station, it's just about a 15-minute walk. You won't get lost; simply head to the end of Dihua Street, cross one main road, and you're right there at Dadaocheng.

Perhaps it's the river, but the sunset here felt even more magnificent. Watching the vibrant hues reflect on the water, I completely lost track of time.
There were plenty of people relaxing on mats, and just observing cyclists pass by added to the tranquil, healing atmosphere. It's truly a place to unwind and soak it all in.
It felt like a place where locals come to unwind after work, enjoying the sunset. The best part? There were more locals than tourists, which meant a relaxed atmosphere without the crowds. It's truly a hidden gem!
The riverside also boasts excellent bike paths. Renting a bicycle and riding along the river as the sun dips below the horizon would be absolutely magical. That's definitely on my list for my next visit!

After the sun dips below the horizon, the sky often bursts into an even richer orange glow. It's like the sunset colors intensify!
So, my tip is to stick around for an extra 10-20 minutes after the official sunset to capture those truly magical moments.
If your timing is just right, you might even catch planes taking off from Songshan Airport, adding another unique element to the view!
2. Dadaocheng Container Market
Once you've had your fill of the stunning sunset, it's time to treat your taste buds, right?
The Dadaocheng Container Market features a lively array of food stalls, much like an outdoor night market. It's a fantastic place to try a variety of local and international bites.
With a diverse menu featuring everything from pizza and hot dogs to grilled skewers, it's a fantastic spot to grab dinner. You'll find something for everyone!
On weekends, you might even catch live busking performances, adding to the vibrant atmosphere. If your visit aligns, it's a wonderful bonus to enjoy along with the sunset!
With ample table seating right by the river, you can enjoy your meal in comfort while taking in the scenic views.
