Taipei Hotel Reviews 2026: 3 Best Stays by Budget
Looking for the perfect base in Taipei? Discover our top 3 hotel picks for 2026, featuring a relaxing hot spring retreat, a central hub, and a budget gem.

Top 3 Taipei Hotels for Every Traveler
One of the toughest parts of planning any trip is answering one simple question:
"Where should I set up my base camp?"
Taipei is a wonderfully diverse destination. Some travelers come for non-stop sightseeing and street food, while others are looking for a tranquil wellness retreat.
Because every itinerary is different, your accommodation needs will vary, too.
If you're still on the fence about where to book for your 2026 trip, I've got you covered. Here are my top 3 tried-and-tested Taipei hotels, categorized by travel style: ultimate relaxation, prime sightseeing location, and unbeatable budget!
1. Wulai Spring Spa Hotel
Wulai Spring Spa Hotel
Check-in: 5:00 PM
Check-out: 12:00 PM
◆ Perfect for a relaxing getaway with private in-room hot spring baths
◆ Located near the authentic Wulai residential area
◆ Includes one complimentary public hot spring access per person
My first recommendation is the Spring Spa Hotel, nestled in the famous Wulai Hot Spring Village just outside of central Taipei.

If you translate the Chinese characters literally, it means "Wulai Hot Spring Mountain Villa." True to its name, it's a peaceful retreat tucked away in the lush mountains. I highly recommend taking the 849 bus or a taxi to get here, though they do offer parking if you've decided to rent a car.

The rooms are surprisingly spacious—you can easily open two large suitcases with plenty of floor space to spare.
But the absolute highlight is the private hot spring bath right by the window.
Doesn't it look like the ultimate spot to unwind?

Soaking in the tub while gazing out at the natural mountain views makes you feel completely disconnected from the hustle and bustle.
The hotel uses natural, mineral-rich carbonated hot spring water. It's drawn at a comfortable temperature, so you can jump right in for a relaxing soak as soon as the tub fills up.
If you're traveling with your partner or parents and want a rejuvenating retreat, this is the perfect pick!

2. Hotel Ximen Puli
Hotel Ximen Puli
Check-in: 3:00 PM
Check-out: 11:00 AM
◆ Unbeatable location: 3-minute walk from Ximen Station Exit 6
◆ The ultimate hub for city sightseeing and day tours
◆ Surrounded by incredible local street food and restaurants

My second pick is Hotel Ximen Puli.
As the name suggests, it's located right in the vibrant heart of Ximending, just a quick 3-minute walk from Ximen Station.
I'll be honest—the exterior is a bit dated and feels slightly like an older motel.

Inside, the rooms are compact and lack windows. It was just big enough to open two suitcases.
However, the bed was incredibly plush, ensuring a great night's sleep after a long day of walking. There's also a small table that came in handy for enjoying late-night snacks.

The bathroom and sink area are also on the smaller side, but I really appreciated that the toilet and shower spaces were distinctly separated.
Yes, it's a very compact hotel, but the prime location right in the center of Ximending completely makes up for any space constraints.
It was incredibly safe and easy to wander around hunting for street food late into the evening, and being so close to Ximen Station made it the perfect starting point for our suburban day tours.
If convenience and accessibility are your top priorities, Hotel Ximen Puli is an excellent choice.
3. Check Inn Express Taipei Station
Check Inn Express Taipei Station
Check-in: 3:00 PM
Check-out: 11:00 AM
◆ 24-hour check-in (perfect for red-eye flights)
◆ Phenomenal value for money
◆ Just a 4-minute walk from Taipei Main Station Exit Y13

My final recommendation is the Check Inn Express, conveniently located near Taipei Main Station.
Because they offer 24-hour check-in, it was an absolute lifesaver when I arrived in the early hours of the morning after a late flight.

Being a mere 4-minute walk from Taipei Main Station means the connectivity is fantastic.
On top of the great location, the room size is surprisingly generous—we had plenty of room to lay out two suitcases comfortably.
The surrounding neighborhood is packed with local breakfast joints and familiar franchise restaurants, so grabbing a quick bite before heading out was always a breeze.
But the biggest draw for me was the unbelievable price. At roughly ~$38 per night, the value is simply unmatched.
If you're hunting for a clean, highly affordable stay, I can't recommend this place enough.
