Recommended Half-Day Itinerary Including Spring City Resort Hot Spring

Beitou: Our Day 3 Taipei Adventure! ♨️

We set off in the morning, soaking up a fantastic half-day, then returned to the city in the afternoon.

This Taipei half-day itinerary is perfect for travelers who:

​

✅ Are visiting Taipei for the second time

✅ Are on a family trip with parents

✅ Are hot spring enthusiasts..💕

It's true for most places, but Beitou is packed with outdoor attractions, so it's absolutely fantastic to plan your visit for a day with beautiful weather!

1. Getting to Beitou from Taipei City

To get from Taipei City to Beitou, just hop on the Tamsui Line (MRT Red Line), and you'll arrive in about 30 minutes!

Since many of the main attractions are around Xinbeitou Station, travelers often transfer from Beitou to Xinbeitou.

My recommended way to explore is to get off at Beitou Station and take a leisurely stroll up to Xinbeitou, soaking in the sights along the way.

Then, after your relaxing hot spring session, you can take a shuttle back down to Xinbeitou or Beitou.

(I'll share details on how to use the shuttle at the very end of the post!)

2. Discovering the Local Market on Your Walk to Xinbeitou

Another great reason I suggest starting your journey with a walk from Beitou Station is the chance to explore a vibrant local market as you head uphill!

It's a neighborhood where real locals live, which makes it incredibly charming and authentic.

3. Public Library & Beitou Hot Spring Museum

If only my hometown had a library like this,

I'd be so motivated to hit the books..!!

Nestled in the heart of Beitou Park — a truly beautiful place to simply stroll on a sunny day — is the stunning <Beitou Public Library>.

As it's a public library, visitors from outside are welcome to explore it for free.

Inside, you'll find many locals studying and reading, so it's a perfect spot to quietly unwind before you continue your adventure!

The expansive windows and warm wood-toned interior were absolutely stunning! I couldn't quite read the books since I don't speak Chinese, but it was still a joy to be there, hahaha.

Each floor offers access to an outdoor terrace—make sure to step out and enjoy it!

It's the moment when Beitou transforms in your mind from "just hot springs" to "an incredible healing oasis!"

Right across from the Public Library is

<Beitou Hot Spring Museum>!

You don't actually get to soak in hot springs here,

but there are various spaces designed with a hot spring concept.

Young children especially love it,

and since they limit the number of people inside,

if you visit on a holiday, there might be a short wait (10-20 minutes).

Please keep that in mind.

4. Enjoying Geothermal Valley & Spring City Resort Hot Springs

Up to this point, most of it was flat,

but the final section has a slight uphill climb.

It takes about 10 minutes.

If walking is difficult,

there are many taxis in front, so you can take one.

(The fare will be around ~$3.)

As you get closer to Geothermal Valley, you'll start to notice a faint 'fart smell' (lol)

– that distinct sulfurous hot spring scent.

Even through a video, you can feel the humidity and heat!♨️

After walking up to Geothermal Valley

and feeling the heat,

you'll probably feel like getting into the water!

Then comes the final stop: Spring City Resort.

Even if you're not staying overnight,

you can purchase a hot spring-only ticket to enter.

There are also many small pools perfect for young children!

Purchasing tickets online is

much cheaper, and you can enter immediately by showing your QR code!

For adults, it's around ~$15,

and private hot springs cost extra, so be sure to check.

The Spring City Hot Springs have that wonderfully smooth, silky feel.

The changing rooms and showers inside were clean and spacious too.

Families with children sometimes spend half a day here,

but for couples, solo travelers, or pairs, 1-2 hours should be enough.

Finally, when you're ready to head back to Beitou

or Xinbeitou Station,

you can take the shuttle provided by Spring City Resort.

(Free if you use the hot springs)

When you first present your Klook ticket,

they'll ask about your preferred shuttle departure time.

You can make a reservation then and head out when it's time.
