Grand Hyatt Taipei: Taipei 101 View

The Grand Hyatt Taipei is a luxury 5-star hotel directly connected to Taipei 101 via a bridge.

Rooms start from 33㎡ and range from king-bed rooms with Taipei 101 views to premium suites spanning 83㎡. Grand Club Lounge access benefits are also included with some rooms.

Its proximity to two MRT lines ensures excellent accessibility. The biggest advantage is having the 101 Shopping Mall and a night market, both central to Taipei tourism, right at its doorstep. It's perfect for both family and couple getaways.
Mandarin Oriental Taipei

The Mandarin Oriental Taipei is a leading 5-star hotel in Taipei, boasting a unique exterior that blends luxurious European architecture with an Eastern aesthetic. Standard rooms are spacious, starting from 55㎡, and all rooms come equipped with Italian marble bathrooms and premium bedding.

It's located in the Songshan District, just 1km from Songshan Airport. With an outdoor heated pool, fitness center, and a globally acclaimed luxury spa, you can enjoy peaceful relaxation even in the heart of the city.

It's an ideal environment for couples, family trips, and even unwinding after a business stay. What's more, among Taipei's 5-star hotels, its spa is particularly highly praised, making it a perfect fit for those interested in skincare and wellness.
Regent Taipei

Regent Taipei is a luxury hotel situated in the heart of Taiwan's capital, well-known for its sophisticated service and spacious rooms. Located in the Zhongshan District, it's the most preferred location among the three hotels mentioned for travelers.

Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, Ningxia Night Market, Ximending, and more are all close by, accessible within 20 minutes by subway or taxi.

With a total of eight restaurants within the hotel, dining options are diverse, and the spa offers various wellness treatments, including hot stone massages and body scrubs. As a hotel with a long history among Taipei's 5-star establishments, it's an excellent choice for those who appreciate refined and classic service.

Fukuoka is always a good idea. Even when international travel feels daunting due to fuel surcharges, you can get there in just about an hour by plane.
Fukuoka, my constant recommendation for first-time visitors to Japan! Let me share a shopping list of great items to pick up at Don Quijote in Fukuoka.

Food & Snacks

I go to Don Quijote and buy over 80% food items. That's because the prices are affordable, and I can bring them home and stock up to enjoy for several days.
I also sometimes buy Meltykiss, the more budget-friendly version of Royce Chocolate.

Jellies are a must-pick! I think I've tried at least one of every type, and honestly, none of them were bad. You can pick any and they'll all be worth trying.

A famous food item in Fukuoka is anything related to mentaiko (spicy pollack roe). Mentaiko is, after all, a specialty of Fukuoka. You can easily find mentaiko products not just at Don Quijote, but also at airports, train stations, and supermarkets.
They're well-packaged for gifts and require refrigeration, so it's best to buy them on the day you return home. Pretz Mentaiko crackers are also hard to find in other regions, so I highly recommend those too!

These days, the descriptions are often well-translated into Korean. I'm trying new snacks one by one, but there are still so many more I haven't tasted yet!

Ramen meal kits are also a staple on any Fukuoka shopping list, right? Some people fall so in love with the taste of Ichiran Ramen's main branch that they buy up all the meal kits. I've never bought one myself, but those who have tried them say they quite accurately reproduce the flavor you get at the restaurant, making them pretty similar.

I love Nissin Donbei Kitsune Udon so much that I've never *not* bought it at Don Quijote! The original with the big fried tofu (aburaage) and the bulgogi udon are delicious. But the udon with tempura pictured in red? It gets soggy, so I'm not a fan.

Cup Noodle is delicious! It tastes just like Yukgaejang (spicy beef soup) cup ramen.

I love curry, so I always buy Golden Curry. While this is also sold in Korea, there's quite a price difference, you know? It's definitely much more advantageous to buy it in Japan.
Skincare
Mask packs, patches, and skincare products are also very popular.
Since I'm a man, I only buy one skincare product: Biotherm Sun Cream! It's expensive if you buy it in Korea, but you can get it at a much more affordable price locally in Japan. It's a go-to item I love so much that I always keep at least 2 or 3 of them at home.

Perfect Whip is easily found in other stores in Korea as well. But if you compare prices, Japan is slightly cheaper, so it's a good idea to stock up on a few.

Besides those, there are Ryumakan patches, hyaluronic acid ampoules, cosmetics, acne patches, and more. However, when it comes to cosmetics, there's no fixed rule about what you *must* buy, as everyone has products that suit them and some that might cause trouble or simply not work well.

Keana Nadeshiko products are also very popular, aren't they? The blue ones pictured above are the toner and rice cream, and the red one is the cleansing foam.

Medicine

This is Cabagin, Japan's national stomach medicine. It contains ingredients extracted from cabbage, and people say it really helps soothe your stomach when you have indigestion.

There are also many types of patches. Some people even hoard the coin-sized patches!

Personally, I prefer eye masks that you stick on your eyes rather than coin-sized patches. If you cleverly put on an eye patch when sleeping on a plane, you can get a comfortable rest. And those Kyusoku Jikan (relaxing time) foot patches? If you stick them on your feet after a long day of travel and before bed, your fatigue just melts away!
At Don Quijote, there's so much to see that if you don't organize your shopping list beforehand, you could easily spend the whole day browsing. Even if you only buy what you need, your suitcase will still get packed to the brim, haha! And remember to bring your passport, because you can get a tax refund benefit if you spend over 5,000 yen!
