Book Taipei 101 Observatory Tickets on Klook
I actually headed up to the observatory right after
having an incredible meal at Din Tai Fung,
which is located right in the building.
(I'll share all the delicious details on that below!)
If you're coming from Taipei Main Station,
you can take the red line directly without any transfers.
From Ximending, it's just one quick transfer.

It's only about a 25-minute subway ride from the main tourist hubs,
making it super accessible.
Once you arrive, head up to the 5th floor of the mall.
That's where you'll find the ticket counter and the dedicated observatory elevators.
I wanted to catch both the sunset and the dazzling night views,
so I booked my entry for about 30 minutes before sunset.
I ended up arriving a bit early,
about 30 minutes ahead of my reserved time slot,
but they still let me right in!
Because I pre-booked on Klook,
I didn't have to exchange anything for a physical ticket. I just scanned the QR code on my voucher and
completely skipped the ticket counter line.
Since there's only one main elevator bank taking everyone up,
having your ticket ready to go so you can just join the elevator queue
is a huge time-saver.

Once you step out, the 360-degree floor-to-ceiling windows
give you an incredible sense of scale. It's breathtaking.
It was actually a bit overcast on the day I went,
but the moody, diffused light gave the city a really beautiful, cinematic vibe.
As you walk around the perimeter, the window ledges point out
major landmarks and how far away they are.
It was a lot of fun trying to spot different buildings from up high.
There's a specific corner section where the floor is mirrored.
You absolutely have to take photos here!
The reflections look amazing.
This is definitely the ultimate Taipei 101 photo zone.
Up on the observation deck, they also sell snacks, beer, coffee, and more,
so you can easily grab a drink and
just soak in the views at your own pace.

Instead of arriving exactly at sunset,
get there a bit early.
Wander around, and then stake out a spot by the west-facing windows
to wait for the golden hour photos.
(I noticed most of the locals doing exactly this!)
Also, don't forget to check out the gift shop—
they have some surprisingly cute and unique souvenirs!
Watching the city transition from sunset to a glittering nightscape
was easily one of the most memorable moments of my Taipei trip.
You can't visit Taipei without eating at Din Tai Fung, the world-famous home of Xiao Long Bao (soup dumplings).
Conveniently, there's a massive location right on the 1st floor of the
Taipei 101 Shopping Center.
It makes for the perfect combo itinerary.
The restaurant is incredibly clean and spacious,
making it a great spot if you're traveling with family or parents.
Because Taiwan is the birthplace of Din Tai Fung,
the quality here is just on another level compared to
the branches I've visited in other countries.
The delicate wrappers and the rich, savory broth inside
are something I still crave.
A quick heads-up: this Din Tai Fung location is wildly popular,
and the wait times can get pretty intense.
