Taiwan Travel: Taipei 101 Shopping Mall Review
Beyond the Observatory and Din Tai Fung: A Must-Visit Luxury Haven
When you're planning your trip to Taipei, Taiwan,
Taipei 101 is definitely on the itinerary.
Typically, the plan involves going up to the observatory,
having a meal at Din Tai Fung,
and then wrapping up your visit.
But if you have some extra time in your schedule,
I highly recommend paying this place a visit too.
I'm talking about the Taipei 101 Shopping Mall (Center)!
It's a place where various brands and luxury goods come together.
You might think, 'Aren't all luxury malls pretty much the same?'
And if you're not particularly interested in brands or luxury items,
then there's even less reason to check it out, right?
Well, after visiting myself, my thoughts completely changed.

The real charm was on the upper floors of the shopping center.

When I first stepped inside,
it wasn't dramatically different from what I expected.
There were various brand stores,
and luxury brands were present,
giving it the feel of a typical department store.
If I were interested in shopping, I might have enjoyed comparing prices,
but since that's not my thing at all...
It reminded me a bit of Shinsegae Department Store Centum City in Busan...
and that was pretty much it. Haha.
I just thought it wasn't much different from a Korean department store.
(By the way, I saw a Polo store and decided to check it out.
It seemed more expensive than in Korea, I think...)
However, when I went up to the very top floor,
the atmosphere completely transformed.
The upper levels of the Taipei 101 Shopping Center
were the most impressive part.
It was truly a super-luxury experience!
The high ceilings, the opulent interior,
and the expansive, open spaces combined,
creating an overwhelming sense of grandeur the moment I stepped in.
It felt less like a mere shopping area and more like
exploring a luxury theme park.
If you just look at the photos,
you might think, 'Isn't it just a shopping mall?'
But the atmosphere I experienced in person was definitely different.
(Though it might just be me...)
Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Dior, Cartier,
Yves Saint Laurent, Bvlgari, Burberry, and more —
the world's leading high-end luxury brands
are all gathered in one magnificent space.
Even if luxury shopping isn't my main goal,
I found it quite enjoyable just exploring the store atmosphere
and the space itself.
I stumbled upon this place looking for a spot to rest, and it was lovely, haha!
There was also a cafe where you could sit and relax
amidst the luxury boutiques.
LADUREE seemed to be on the pricier side.
Rather than squeezing in with the crowds at the B1 food court or a cafe on the 1st floor,
it seemed like a great idea to splurge a little
and enjoy some tranquility here.
(Seriously, it gets incredibly, incredibly crowded...)
I wish I had come here instead of the 1st-floor cafe ㅜㅜ
I was truly amazed by the grandeur and sophistication
that simply can't be captured fully in photos.
Even if you're not into luxury goods,
there's plenty of fun to be had just exploring the space itself,
so I hope you get to experience another charming side
of the Taipei 101 Shopping Center~
If you, like me, think 'all department stores are pretty much the same,'
then this place will likely be the biggest surprise.
There might be a slight exaggeration there, lollll
