Dreaming of a Taipei adventure? As a seasoned traveler, I find myself drawn back to Taiwan's vibrant capital time and time again. And every single trip, there's one iconic landmark I simply can't miss: the incredible Taipei 101 Tower! Even if the weather in Taipei is already heating up (it's May 2026, after all!), the allure of this architectural marvel is undeniable.
Join me as I share my favorite tips and tricks for visiting Taipei 101, a must-add to any Taipei itinerary!
TAIPEI 101 TOWER
Operating Hours
Daily: 10:00 AM - 9:00 PM
Last Entry: 8:15 PM
1. Location & Getting There
📍 Taipei 101
Taipei 101, No. 7, Section 5, Xinyi Rd, Xicun Village, Xinyi District, Taipei City, Taiwan 110
This popular Taipei attraction is conveniently located at the Taipei 101/World Trade Center MRT Station.

Simply take the MRT Tamsui-Xinyi Line (the Red Line) directly to Taipei 101/World Trade Center Station. Head out of Exit 4, and you'll find the entrance to the Taipei 101 Observatory right ahead of you.

Once inside the building, you'll spot a Din Tai Fung restaurant to your right. Continue past it into the food court area. Follow the clear "Observatory" signs located throughout the building to guide you to the entrance.

A quick tip: while the observatory entrance is on the 5th floor, you'll first go up to the 4th floor, then take an escalator up to the 5th. Don't get turned around!
2. Tickets & Prices
Tickets are checked at the entrance. While you can purchase tickets on-site, you'll often find better deals by booking in advance through official platforms or third-party travel sites.

Another great reason to book ahead? Taipei 101 is a hugely popular spot, so tickets can sometimes sell out at the counter, especially during peak season. Secure your spot by purchasing in advance!
| On-Site Purchase | Trip.com | KKday | Klook |
89F & 91F | NT600 (~$19) | ~$18 | ~$18 | ~$19 |
89F, 91F & 101F | NT980 (~$31) | ~$29 | ~$30 | ~$30 |
Fast Track | NT1,200 (~$38) | ~$37 | ~$37 | ~$37 |

While Trip.com currently offers the best deal, keep in mind that platform discounts can change with the season. Always check prices across different booking sites before you buy!

If you're planning to visit other famous Taipei attractions like the National Palace Museum or Yehliu Geopark, consider purchasing the "Taipei Fun Pass." This pass offers unlimited entry to various attractions and public transport, making it a fantastic value for your Taipei itinerary. Calculate your potential savings and choose the best option for your trip!

Exploring Taipei 101 Tower

I pre-booked a Fast Track ticket, which allowed me to bypass the lines and be one of the first on the elevator! The thrill of skipping the queue? Absolutely worth it! 💚

Reaching the 89th floor in just 37 seconds – now that's impressive!
89th Floor Observatory
Your standard ticket grants you access to the 88th, 89th, and 91st floors, but the 89th floor is truly the main event.

Take your time strolling around the interior, admiring the panoramic views of Taipei from every angle. Personally, I love soaking in the bustling city skyline, with all the towering buildings stretching out below.

The observatory also features several dedicated photo zones, where tourists often line up to capture that perfect shot. Since I was visiting solo this time, I managed to quickly snap a few photos of the zones when the crowds thinned out!
Oh! While these themed photo zones are fun, another personal recommendation for a fantastic photo op is the corner window seats.

Lean back against the glass in one of these corners, and you'll get an absolutely stunning photo with the city sprawling behind you – definitely give it a try!
One side of the 89th floor is home to various shops, perfect for grabbing a quick bite or a snack.

As a Fast Track ticket holder, I received several coupons. However, since I had plans for Kiki Restaurant right after my visit, I opted for just a bubble tea.

There's also a souvenir shop brimming with charming merchandise, from cute Taipei 101-themed items to elegantly packaged gifts. It's a great spot to pick up something for yourself or a thoughtful present for friends and family.
88th & 91st Floors
Beyond the 89th floor, your standard ticket also grants you access to the 88th and 91st floors.

The 88th floor houses the Wind Damper Gallery, where you can marvel at the massive tuned mass damper ball that protects the building during strong winds or earthquakes.
It's hailed as the world's largest damper ball, definitely worth a look if you haven't seen it before. Having visited it previously, I decided to coolly skip it this time.

The 91st floor features an outdoor observatory, which is only open on days with good weather. Sadly, I've missed out on visiting it twice now... Am I a weather jinx?

While missing the outdoor experience was a bit of a bummer, the 91st floor also offers interesting exhibits on Taipei 101's history and construction, making it a decent spot to explore.
101st Floor: The World's Highest Secret Garden
The 101st floor, which requires a special ticket beyond the standard or Fast Track options, is currently themed as the "World's Highest Secret Garden."

As someone who loves high-rise views combined with garden aesthetics, this was right up my alley! However, due to a tight schedule, I reluctantly had to skip it this time.

I hear it boasts even more stunning photo zones than the 89th floor, so if you're chasing that perfect Instagram shot, the 101st floor is a must-visit. Word on the street is that daytime photos with natural sunlight turn out the prettiest!
Oh! The 101st floor also features another outdoor observatory called Skyline 460. While the price tag is a bit steep, it promises an unforgettable experience for those looking for unique outdoor adventures in Taipei.
Taipei 101 Observatory is always a staple on my Taipei itineraries.

This iconic high-rise offers breathtaking city views and dazzling nightscapes, plus the lower floors are packed with shopping malls and fantastic restaurants. It's simply too good to miss when planning your Taipei travel itinerary.
I've only experienced the night views on my two visits, so I'm planning a daytime trip next. Since both day and night offer distinct charms, I highly recommend visiting at the time that best suits your preference!
